I got the map update when WAMS programmed my hmi and radio. It was super cheap for him to do it vs buying the map and installing it myself.

I have a 2015 Tahoe LT with 8" screen with Nav.

Looking for a complete swap so I can get Apple Carplay.

Can someone selling/programming HMI and radio modules PM me with cost, Part Numbers.

Awesome...watch a couple YouTube vids and you'll be fine.  Took me maybe 20min to install my parts.

hey guys have the 4.2 screen and trying to upgrade to a 8 inch screen... but not sure what’s the difference between the 2.0 and the 2.5 module??? don’t care that much for all the techy stuff (even though my brother has a cruze with apple carplay and makes me sad since i got the baby screen lol) but since the 2.5 module is 50 bucks more then why not get all the stuff too? so what’s the difference with the 2.0 and 2.5 hmu module thanks :(

Do the 2.5; even if you DONT use car play/AA the speed is worth $50 easily.

You’ll want to get the matching radio for your audio RPO and both of them programmed.

Another happy Magpie Customer here, highly recommend, Customer service is awesome too.  Got everything delivered Friday evening, installed Saturday morning (45 mins) and it works great.  FYI for Carplay users there is no reason to do the cluster swap and programming anymore.  With the "Hey Siri" shortcuts in the latest IOS all you have to do is turn Siri Shortcuts on in your phone settings and say "Hey Siri" while your driving and she talks through the radio.  No need to press anything on the screen or steering wheel.

Details:  Truck is a Pre-August 2015 2500HD LTZ w/ I06 and HD Radio.  Got the new Radio and I06 2.5 HMI, plugged right in, confirmed w/ Magpie I would still have HD Radio and I do.

Tips, the USB swap was the hardest part (if you want to call it "hard") for me.  I'm anal about not scuffing or marring any interior plastic.  Mine was extremely tight.  I tapped everything off with painters tape around it (as I did with the dash trim when removing it) and used two of the thinnest trim removal tools I had lifting on the back and left side at the same time, it finally popped out in two pieces.  Didn't scuff or mar anything, and the new one fit tight as well with no movement.  Having a quality set of trim removal tools is key for this install.

Also it is a good time to change your cabin air filter while your swapping out the HMI since you have everything removed and its right there, mine was only two years old and needed replacing.

The screens from my 2015 Impala match these screens to the letter/number. Does this mean i could do the same swap in my Impala? Maybe @th3magpi3 would know?

One thing I just realized that I dont have anymore is the ability to rewind live radio. Was there an internal hard drive on the older units that isnt there on the new hmi and radios?

    • I have the VSE CCV kit. It is a quality product. Fairly easy installation. I vent it back into the turbo intake horn, like stock. I check the reservoir monthly. I have seen oily water come out. So far, after 6 months I would say it has collected about 8-10 ounces of crap.
    • I'm getting out in public more these days and rely on a walker for anything more than short distances.  I am impressed with how kind others are in their efforts to assist when they see me doing the old man walker shuffle!  I find teenagers hanging out at the mall are often the first to get ahead of me to open a door or to offer me the opportunity to get in front of them in a lineup!  I am very fortunate that this is temporary for me and I have a developed a huge appreciation for those seniors struggling to maintain some mobility. Walkers, canes or scooters will assist with mobility but they don't eliminate the challenges.  Chances are the individual using these devices are hurting.  A few kind words of recognition from a stranger can take away the discomfort for a few moments.  I am looking forward to paying forward all of the kindness I have received!
    • Curious @newdude, how does this change when a 6L80 is either fitted with a billet converter OR is behind a V6 whose converter isn't a pile of junk? Oh, and are you saying in the above the 4-5-6 clutch's burning up is the result of the converter/pump induced failure or they are just fragile? Thanks in advance for any feedback you may be willing to give.
    • 5.3 Sierra with approximately 80,000 miles had a radiator replacement about 6 months ago which required pulling the AC condenser and a vacuum and recharge on the system.  AC cooled fine until about a month ago, when it would suddenly start blowing lukewarm air for 5 minutes at a time at various points throughout the day, then suddenly resume cooling again.  Sometimes its when stopped at an intersection and other times while moving.  I've read about the internal electronics in the compressor going bad on these trucks and not cycling properly, but sounds like many dealers just chase AC issues with a parts cannon.  Also wondering if they charged it correctly when the radiator was replaced.   Is there an easy way to see if these electronically driven compressors are engaging properly, or to check for freeze up, etc.?  Dealer usually wont do much unless they can replicate or I can show them a video of what's going on.
    • Apparently it doesn't trigger a fault, at least according to my dealer, but in one month its gone from once or twice a week to several times a day, so you can catch it on video and its likely to be seen by the dealer.  I've heard some have replaced only the switch, yet others have required full shifter assembly replacement to the tune of $900+?
