I think the natural frequency of these trucks and the stiff frame make them extremely sensitive to any unbalanced rotating mass, even to the point where the rims have to be matched to the position on the truck and to the hub and rotor assembly. What I mean by this is a heavy spot in the rotor/hub can be off set by a heavy spot in the tire/rim assembly where even taking the rim off the truck and rotating 1,2 or 3 studs could possibly causes or cure a vibration. I have been experimenting with this recently and noticed by moving wheels and tires around and trying different clock positions on the hub I can make the vibration shake your teeth out or make it almost disappear. Which is absolute BS, no truck should be so sensitive that even a simple tire rotation could cause vibration issues. I must say though, even without the high speed vibration the truck still rides like $h!t. I'm thinking about swapping out the rear springs for something softer and adding the Sulastic shackles and a rear sway bar to prevent body roll. I've spoke with a few custom leaf builders and GM builds 4 different leaf springs for theses trucks rated from 1600 to 2200 lbs. So far a set of custom built Alcans are looking enticing. I've already swapped out the shocks and struts for RS9000 adjustables hoping to soften the ride and cure the vibration problem which helped the ride not the vibration but I'm hesitant to spend more money on this truck as opposed to just getting rid of it and looking at the Ram or F-150. These trucks are the best looking on the market but the ride is terrible.

It's going to be interesting to see if these problems continue into 16 or if there will be some unadvertised changes to the build to try and fix it. Dodge had vibration issues in their redesign from 09-12 now if you look on the either side of the truck on the frame closer to the front of the door you'll see vibration dampers.

well no im stumped..I had a vibrator.took it in 6000 miles ago and they replaced the drive shaft, rotated and balanced tires, balanced drive shaft and it was fixed...rode like a lexus.....well bring it into the dealer yesterday for a tire rotation and oil change and the SHAKE IS BACK....76 mph and look out, this baby rattles....what the hell could have happened to start this nightmare again?!!!!!

yeah thats what im thinking...i thought i was on easy street...had it fixed...no vibration at all and literally all they did was rotate my tires and oil change...bringing it back in tomorrow..hopefully they get it figured out....

Please keep us posted because I am in the same situation where Mine was fixed with a re-balance and rotation but I have been afraid of it coming back like yours did...

Good Luck..

That's what im thinking also, I mentioned that a couple hundred pages back. Ford also used to put them on there exhaust years ago.

I have a 15 Sierra cc shorted with the 6.2 Max Trailer package. The truck had a vibration when I test drove it and I brought it to the dealers attention. I was told that I had to put at least 500 miles on before they would look at it. I am about to call the dealer to start this process. I have read through a lot of info but any guidance would be appreciated.

My truck has what I can only describe as an oscillating vibration in the steering wheel at about 45-50 and a pretty bad shake at about 65-75. It is on Goodyears which I am not a fan but I don't think that is the core of the issues, mine feels more like driveline than tires.

From what I can tell, it seems as if the problem is a mixture of tolerances being off. I have had the shake from 74 to 80 since day 1. Thought it was wheel RFB, so had that done on SEY 22's that came on the vehicle with bridgestones. No change.

If your vibration/shake is below 74 mph, that would be the first thing I would have checked. I already had my black set of wheels on-hand, so put them on, and although the shake decreased, it was still there. contacted Discount Tire Direct, and because I was the first to get these from them, they went above and beyond to make sure it was not the wheel package itself. They went through a bunch of wheels and bridgestone tires to get me a matched set that RFB's at 1lb or less on the roadforce hunter. So pretty much the wheel and tire combinations I have are as round as round is gonna get. They went through a bunch of their own money to get this to me. Guess what, still had the shake, but a little less.

Two times in a row the dealership is trying to tell me it was the aftermarket wheels. And two times in a row I called BS. Third time in, had the factory issued 22's on and they didnt even check the wheels (I know this because the TPMS sensors were still set for my black set and they never reprogrammed for the stock set). They checked my Rancho shocks front and rear, and notified me that the rear set had too much play, so they replaced them. I was skeptical, but it reduced the shake to almost nothing unless your on a bumpy highway.

From what it seems to me, its as if the truck is so stiff that the shocks cannot react quick enough to road surface and it reverbs through the chassis. Unless I am on an abnormally rough road the truck rides on glass. Strangest thing ever. I am a little hyper-sensative to issues like this and I seem to pick up on things that most would ignore, so for me its now to a level that I believe would not be noticed by most. I am hoping a set of bilsteins will reduce it to nil so I can install my Helliwig front and rear sway bars. Tired of body roll.

As far as how many trucks have this issue, I would say at least half! I say this because I have come across alot of owners that dont even realize it. Two friends of mine told me theirs didnt have the issue, and it was worse than mine has ever been. When I pointed it out, they were dumbfounded, and since then, both have traded there trucks off.

I did not believe mine was overly bad until I rented a 2015 Ford Crew Cab 4x4. Drove from Ohio to Carolinas and back. Smooth thru 90mph. This Silverado not so much.

Most Chevy's are smooth as well. I had a rental silvy when mine was in the shop and it was just as smooth as mine. Ford is having vibration issues as well.

I agree. I had read somewhere on this site that the new 16's have redesigned body mounts. Not sure if that's true but sure wouldn't surprise me, seems like a logical thing to do to help fix the vibe issues.

I agree with your thoughts. I have replaced all shocks on my truck and it has helped some but not cured. I have looked at those Sulastic shackles and they really do look like they could work but I am just about done spending money on this thing. I keep looking at new rigs as well....I sure do love the way my truck looks just not in love with driving it on the highway.

Agreed. Love how the truck looks, best looking truck currently on the road, but these vibrations are making me lose my mind. Been looking at a few Ram 2500's. The day I drive one may be the same day I get rid of this truck.

But, I'm gonna give my dealer a chance to correct it first

My 2014 Silverado has the same issue with the vibrations, Bought the truck last Thursday with 8000 miles on it, noticed it a couple days later and when I Googled it I ended up here... I'll keep checking back here to see what happens.

I hear ya. I can't drive my truck and let me mind wonder. No matter how busy I am in life if I am driving I am just constantly analyzing the vibe and the truck at all times. OCD's a bitch. haha

I like the Ram 2500's. I have been talking with the Toyota dealer down the road about a TRD Pro Tundra. I have also kicked around the idea of a 2500 Silverado/Sierra but have read about some vibration problems with them as well and frankly that scares the crap out of me at this point. GM dealers have hit my truck consistently 1K or so higher on trade than other brands in my area but in the grand scheme of things that really isn't that much of a difference.

I feel like in my case the Tundra is a safe choice on reliability and resale....but man it just doesn't look as good as what I have now. Could wait for a test drive of a new 16 Sierra but again....scares the crap out of me.

I am in the same boat as well. Actually I had a buyback on my first truck, and now the new one vibrates too. Luckily I don't drive on the highway much but when I do, it is sure unpleasant. As far as looks go, I think the GM trucks win. The F-150 is certainly growing on me and I might go test drive one ad see what I come up with. The interiors on the GM's look higher end as well - but if I can't enjoy driving mine whats the point if its good looking, right? I too over analyze everything with the truck. I am thinking it might be time for a fresh start!

Well, I had mentioned that I was done dealing with all of GM's BullSh*t, particularly after they told me that it was "normal operation" and they they wouldn't do anything. The lawfirm I had contacted called me back today, and they ARE interested in taking the class action case, they have already gotten some "experts" to look into ALL of the issues, I gave them a little more information, and they said that either one of their "upper level partners" or the "experts" will be contacting me in the next few weeks regarding the overall case.

Here we go, the ball is finally rolling

    • The truck is a 1995 Chevrolet S10 Blazer, 4.3 VIN "W" engine. :cracks knuckles:   On a whim - because I needed a headache - this truck was for sale so I stopped to take a look. Doesn't run. Well, it does, but barely. Long crank, choppy idle, bad misfire(s), it REEKS of fuel. I can DO this..I'm thinking. Diamond in the rough. One owner until last year. A young guy is selling it, he bought it 6 months ago. It stranded him more than once, he's got a newborn. It was in the shop 10 days ago and he "thinks" they said it needs a new fuel injection system. He can't put any more money into it, needs it gone. I was thinking of upgrading my Macbook, which is a total want, not a need. For less than the price of a new laptop I can have fun for months tinkering on this truck and enjoying it. I'm taking this truck home. The guy was beyond thrilled, his wife was there, she thanked me profusely, I could tell they were hurting. They seemed like good people in a bind.   Some parts, a wash, maybe a set of tires, and I can have a few months of fun and then turn it for beer money (or the next project).   Sure enough, there's a work order from a shop last week in the INCHES of paperwork on this truck dating back to when the first owner bought it. They put a new distributor in it, fuel injection work describes basically opening the plenum and putting it back together. He said he couldn't afford any more work so he had them button it up and that's when he put it up for sale.   I'm not well versed in 4.3. I did discover 1995 uses the 1992-1995 SCPI "Spider" injector which is riddled with issues from splitting lines, clogged or cracked poppet valves and plastic spider legs that crumble over time. Cool. I'll just order me a ne---. Oh, the auto parts store doesn't have it? Rock Auto doesn't have it. eBay? $$$$$$ for used. These are UNAVAILABLE period end of story unless you know "a guy" who's still got one in a box somewhere.   Can't upgrade to the '96-'04 injector, it's a different plenum, wiring/pinout and sensor config.   There are a few kinda "know a guy" -guy rebuild services for these injectors out there for about $350. Okay, Okay... I'd like to know if anyone has used them? Anyone got a lead on these crappy 92-95 spiders?   I also don't want to send MY spider to Narnia and back without knowing if that's truly the problem. I guess I'll need to pull apart the plenum and do some digging.   I was also thrown for a loop. This 1995 model year truck has an OBD-II connector. The interface is decidedly not OBD-II. I can read and reset trouble codes and view live data, but there's not a lot of data. Like misfire count and on what cylinder, that's not there. It's OBD-1.5.   Nothing is ever easy. Now it makes sense why this guy wanted to disappear this thing for cheap. I'm guessing the shop told him the injector is toast, the part is unobtainable and they're not going to sort sending the thing to a rando offering rebuild service on craigslist, and the kid likely can't be without a working car for 3 weeks even if they'd facilitate that.   Experience with these early SCPI's? Stories? Things to check? Sympathy? (..Nah...)   This can sit until I sort it. But I haven't had a problem with a vehicle I couldn't easily solve in a long time.
