just curious what the attorney cost you (or should have cost you if it was free) because if the dealer offers a buyback, I want to know what the attorney and lemon law route costs to compare whats a better way to proceed.

 

if the dealer offers an out for like $1,200-$1,500 loss to get out of it then it might be a better deal then paying a lawyer and going through all that hassle

$0, the attorneys gets their fee from GM. Like I said, very simple process.

Just took my 2 month old Sierra Dbl 5.3 Texas back to the dealer (headed out of town for 10 days) to see if they can find source of 40-50 mph vibration and rattle from upper rear seat mount. Am coming to the conclusion that the problem is in the front end (motor mounts?), so told the service manager I didn't want them messing with the driveshaft or rear axle. (I could live with this for the next 5 - 10 years, though I'd prefer it be gone!) Accelerating from 40 to 50 the shake is barely noticeable, coasting down (esp. 4cyl. mode) much stronger. Steady 45 mph seems the worst. Anyone know if other GMs with the dual mode (4 & 8 cyl.) have noticed this vibration - at any speed?

 

Rear seat rattle should be gone with padding the upper mounts. Can't believe they didn't anticipate the problem!

Did u have the motor mounts changed?

ok, I got the truck back and they said they felt it but they didn't do anything at all to the truck because everything was normal and is working fine, this is what the service ticket said:

I have a bit over 2,000 miles on my '14. Plus the 5k miles I did on the company '14. So I've had 7k miles behind the wheel of identical 2wd 3.08 and 4wd 3.42 trucks. CC/SB, 5.3's. LT's. Both have a slight shake. In both trucks, I found that 35psi front and 33psi rear cold pressures helped out quite a bit. one idea that dawned on me is the driveshaft's on these trucks are 1pc, aluminum at that, and have no slip spline. So we have a 8' long aluminum pipe down there. I'd like someone to explain to me what happens in extreme temps and the thing is shrinking and down in 120F Florida expanding. The driveshaft should slip in/out a bit.

A 1 piece propeller shaft uses a splined slip joint to connect the driveline to the transmission or transfer case.

Was climbing around underneath my truck the other day looking around for possible culprits, and when I do I usually use the main drive shaft as kind of a monkey bar to slide up and down. This is the first truck I have owned to where I noticed the main shaft moves around. (Up and down, side to side) due to the transfer case on a rubber harmonic bushing. Could a low density rubber bushing (too soft) be allowing the prop shaft to lose some its centripetal center and what we are feeling is actually the front side of the shaft and transfer case vibrating? Anyone try removing the rubber piece and fabricate a solid mount yet? I've seen people putting cameras under their trucks and looking for axle movement but how about the tc/shaft connection?

They are going to clean up. My brother in law bought two Toyotas just before I bought my GMC. Not a problem one and no V4, not as good on gas or as quick as mine but pretty nice. Im a hard core GM guy thou, happy with mine so far. If it starts shaking its gone.

Everyone forgetting that the Titan will be an all new truck with this Cummins that Toyota is sourcing out from Cummins. Nissan and Cummins have been working on this engine for years. The Titan is a darkhorse like no other truck to date, watch out for this thing, the Cummins name sells itself and will be their main engine.

timfactor- motor mounts not touched yet. Rebalanced and rf and rotated the tires, no change in vibration.

 

Anyone else with this 40 - 50 mph vibration get it fixed?

Mine, after lots of parts changed out still shakes.

No one solution yet or a fix to this problem.

Transfer case mount is making a lot of sense as a culprit just saying.

I tend to agree, might be an alignment issue from poor drive shaft angles

 

reading about the calculations needed to realign things after lifting or lowering the truck I have to wonder if the factory setup angles might be wrong

I still don't believe it's a alignment thing because mine does it randomly at 75to77mph

Good day all, this is my latest update. I completed my GM Trade assist buy back today and no longer have my vibration but I do have a new 2014 Sierra as a replacement. I so am hoping that GM comes up with a fix because it isn't fair to have to deal with that kind of frustration. Good luck and I hopefully I don't have problems with the new one. Yes I did take it on a 25 mile interstate highway speed test drive and this one right now doesn't vibrate at all.

    • Question @diyer2 on this line if you please. Are you saying the shudder is the system turning on and off at the frequency of the shudder? Guess I'm asking if you are saying you have seen it do this with the bi-direction scan tool in graph mode? If so have you been able to discern the 'trigger'. Something is telling to cycle rapidly.    My truck just started doing this recently. 197K on the clock. My response has been M5 anything under 55 mph. I treat it like a lugging stick shift. Gear down and let it spin a bit. Engauge M5, then tow mode and then M6 lets the trans stay in 5th but the AFM is active. Smooth like Skippy.    My thought was that as a machine ages the friction gets lower and as the system is load based, the lower friction would allow it to turn on at ever lower rpm until it reaches the lugging point. And yes I am ignorant of any minimum rpm requirement for the system. If you know that would be useful information.    As you know I run a Scan-Gauge II which allows me to watch the On/Off of the signal to the VLOM. While in the shudder mode I'm not seeing is cycle at that frequency or at all for that matter outside the triggers @newdude posted a few years back. Now is it possible that the refresh rate isn't fast enough to catch it? Maybe. It is why I asked my first question about graphing and trigging parameter.     As we have observed from members here the failure point is all over the map miles wise as you note yourself in your opening post. That by itself begs a few questions like fellows that comment on these lifters failing even after the system has been disabled.     • UPDATE 2: Steering wheel control backlights and control of the cluster can supposedly be achieved by adding a wire to pin 20 of the cluster and tapping it to pin 2 of the main clock spring harness. I'm going to give it a shot - will update  
    • GM Global A pickups 2019-2022 can do OTA programming for the radio.  GM VIP (GM Global B) can do OTAs for almost every module on board.  So a 2022.5 and newer pickup can do OTAs for recalls like the 2.7 fuel flow recall.  EVs get OTAs that improve one pedal driving, radio issues, HVAC issues, updated battery management software, etc.     So age of the vehicle/what GM electrical platform its on will alter what amount of updates can be pushed on OTAs.  
    • Thank You.   So far my new ride is making me look like a genius for going with the 3.0L, as my first fuel refill occurred over three weeks from when I took delivery.  This engine combination is very amazing.  So far no issues and had not done a regen yet.
    • I am curious as to how much fluid you put back in the transmission ( assuming you had replaced the filter to compare to my findings ) and then went through the process of warming up the trans before pulling the check plug to drain out the excess and if you measured how much came back out.    I just found it surprising that some claimed a certain amount less fluid being put in and then draining some back out. The attitude of the truck as per if the surface is level and how the trucks stance is would make quite a difference since the check plug is right at the front of the transmission.
