So I got off the phone with my lemon law lawyer here in Pa. And looks like they are siding with GM. My dealership has blew smoke up my a$$ by not providing records. I know my stupidity. I've asked numerous times for records but the response is "we don't know who's going to pay for the work". So lawyer says there's no documentation even after truck was in shop 26 days. All that's recorded was tire balance. Which is bull because I documented every conversation to the day. Even provided videos before and after. According to lawyer GM offered 1400 dollar cash settlement. Told lawyer I don't want money. Want my truck fixed, a replacement or the thing gone. Funny how GM is covering this up. Can't get rid of this POS quick enough. 50000 dollar truck and I hate driving. 2015 shakerado Z71 crew cab. At this point I don't know what else to do. Anyone got suggestions?

Are you directing this at me? I asked a simple question. I like the 16 Sierra's and curious if the vibrating is still an issue.

Ok guys thanks for the info. I read an article a few months back about vibration type issues on the SUV's causing car sickness but it didn't say anything about the trucks. Why is this so hard for GM to figure out and fix? Really keeps me from wanting to be serious about buying a Sierra. Although I have 3 friends with them and none have this issue.

I know this is going to look suspicious being only my third post but I wasn't sure what forum to join at first. I have noticed a shake or vibration in my new 4x4 crew 5.5 box 5.3 truck it seems to come and go and has been a pain to pin point what makes it happen. I can feel it in the steering wheel, seat and sometimes the gas petal but mostly in the steering wheel. It seems to be most noticeable going up or down hill with very light acceleration but can do it on level ground at cruise speed too. And the fun part is it doesn't always do it to make it more of a challenge to diagnose it.

 

Brought it to the dealer last week and I thought the mechanic was going to think I was crazy but he did feel it too which was a relief also the service writer test drove it after they balanced and rotated the tires and he said its slight, but he felt it too. We scheduled it to come in tomorrow and are opening a warranty claim. I have very little faith that its going to get fixed because of the nature of the vibration and it being so new that there probably isn't any info out there on what it could be. I really don't know what they can do tomorrow other then make phone calls. If I had to venture a guess I'm going to say its in the transmission or possibly the engine.

 

We also have a 2012 equinox and on the same roads there's no vibration at all.

 

Also I have the z71 and man does that thing ride STIFF! Every repair strip in the tar is felt hard! Anyone know if it just takes some miles to get the shocks broke in (2600 on it now)? My 04 was a z71 too and rode much, much softer then this.

 

I would really like to get this figured out because it, along with a few other

smaller things is preventing me from loving this truck.

I had the same issue on my 2014 Silverado 3500 - 10 miles on it. The dealer ended up swapping the rims and tires after I called Detroit. Now I have a ticking noise... I bought this truck after owning a Ford F250 - 100K no mechanical issues. My brother-in-law got 387K out of his 2000 1500, I do not see that happening with this truck. I am

Read the thread is my first suggestion, it will answer your questions. Second suggestion is to either live with it or trade for another brand.

Fyi for those of you thinking about switching to the F-150, recommend you peruse the below link. Btw, just a side-bar I noticed that GM, Ford, Ram forums are formatted almost identically. I'm guessing that all three are owned by the same folks. Doesn't have anything to do with this topic, just an observation :)

Well we made the journey home and still had varying degrees of vibration throughout the trip. The steering assist also went out again at highway speeds.

It's now at the dealership it was purchased and they are working on it.

1st issue was a replacement steering unit. Will be in on Wednesday.

I have a loaner 2016 Silverado, same overall configuration, and I can't believe how much better it is than mine. All around better: better pickup, better throttle response, no shaking or vibrating. It's making me feel way worse about my truck.

My dealer and GM CS is on it and I'm hopeful they'll do right by us. I'll post back with updates as I get them.

My dealer replaced all 4 tires and the truck rides like it should now. Super happy about that BUT I'm getting some kind of high pitch whining while at highway speeds. I'm still trying to see if it's just this brand tire or something else. We'll see and I'll post back later.

I have a 2014 Chevy Silverado that did the shake. I stopped the shake when I took my 4 wheel auto off and put it in just 2 wheel. The 4x4 drive shift was trying to engage when accelerating when it was in 4 wheel auto. No more shake she runs so smooth.

It's not very often I give SnoringBear any credit, but I can say that a few weeks ago i took a Ram 1500 Laramie Limited with the air ride suspension, and it had a vibration similar to that of the GM trucks, although not quite as bad. I've driven a number of other Ram and Ford trucks, and none of those had the vibration, so that one could have just been an anomaly. Although I am nervous about those brands for other reasons now. Once I finish my buy back, I have all but decided to take that new truck, and trade it for a Tundra

Don't know what tires they put on, but it will come back, that I can assure you, it may take a couple hundred miles, but it will come back. I've had the tires replaced on my truck a couple times now, and it always comes back. What size rims do you have, and are they GM rims? the foreman at my shop believes the vibration is worst in the 20" and 22" rims, and occurs due to a lack of support in them. To me that means low quality lol

You'll be happy with the Tundra. I've had my 2016 Tundra for 6 months, no problems and rides down the highway smooth as silk.

      2 speed transfer case optional now?

      I can only guess as well that something was clicked on that brought you to the half ton choices by accident. By all means try again and chose the 3500 and sort out that its the cab and box configuration you want and choose four wheel drive ( rather obvious to have a transfer case ) and to make sure the dually isn't chosen. I find or at least did a couple of years ago when I was sifting through the options that it would sometimes jump ahead after choosing the series of truck and in this case 3500 and skip some of the other initial configuration choices and have to watch the heading bar and sometimes back up by choosing the first in the series of option break downs. I think sometimes the computer will remember items that were last chosen and skip over the first part. Anyway go through it all and depending on the trim level chosen and I think the LT is one that may fall into that where the option of having the 4 high auto transfer case can be chosen, where as a High Country doesn't show that option as it just comes with the fancier ( not necessarily better though in terms of potential problems ) transfer case but for sure both transfer case choices are equipped with high and low range in the HD truck segment. Like Newdude said who works at a dealership, its the half tons that are the ones that will come with the single speed unless certain options or trim levels are chosen that add the two speed transfer case but as your looking at an HD, you don't have to worry about that hot mess.    One item that at least didn't show up and not sure if it does yet or not in the HD options on the manufactures pubic website is the upfitter in cab switch option if one is desiring that. Unfortunately its not wired in at the factory but the panel with the switches is on the dash but the wiring harness to be installed gets tossed under the rear seat to be installed by whomever after the fact to complete the installation.

      Yesterday we brought home a 6yr  old Havanese dog from a nearby SPCA.  We've had her for 24 hours and we are delighted with how well she is adjusting to her new home.  It  was a huge decision to adopt a dog at this stage in our lives but we believe we made the right choice!   it was reported that her first 6 years were ones of neglect.  I think she's already realizing her life is going to get a whole lot better...  so is ours!

      No doubt, I definitely agree with you. However, considering the 6.2 and 3.0 have been catastrophically failing with very little miles, I figured I would put trouble free. I’m at 18,4xx and still not a single issue.

      It’s never dry here but it gets hot. My 4 vehicles I keep at home drive an 18 mile loop. One 6 days a week. Two about 3 days each and one once a month. Only one goes on trips about 4 times a year 1000 to 2000 miles each time. One 26 years old gets driven once a month for 22 years. One 14 years old goes 6 days a week. The other two are recent at 2 and 4 years. All are performing normal no extra service other than that would be half of recommended or severe service in the maintenance manual. No extra water or steam out the exhaust or premature plug wear. I would consider an 18 mile loop would be enough. So apparently once a month at 18 miles for 22 years has kept the collector car running well. About 45 minutes a month.
