Good to know. About how quickly did the problem reappear? What do you mean by the tires settle in the rims? Did you ever get the issue resolved for good?

When a tire gets mounted, they pump it to its max PSI, typically 51-52 psi to create the seal, then reduce it to spec for the vehicle. Because the tire isn't under the load of the vehicle when it gets mounted, the tire settles in over time as the vehicle is driven. When I went through my sets, I want to say it was about a week or 2, so maybe 200-400 miles. It was never fully gone, but it was reduced then worsened again.

 

Mine wasn't resolved, I am working with GM to get my truck repurchased through "Trade Assist", meaning I get a new GM vehicle in exchange for my current truck.

Well I got an email on monday asking if I got their last email from the prior wednesday, even though I responded the same day. So i forwarded the email I already sent them, and haven't heard anything since.

Bought a 2015 ten days ago and quickly discovered the vibration issue on the way home at interstate speeds. Brought to dealer, road force balance determined I needed two new tires. Two days later they ended up putting on four new tires. I was skeptical and immediately got on the highway - the problem seems to be resolved. Hope it stays this way.

Even though others have had the issue resurface after a RF Balance or Regular Balance, mine has been Fine for 16 months and 9k miles after a Regular Balance... I recently got a the Free Oil Change and tire rotation and still fine... Hang in there..

Holy Cow -

I just purchased a 2014 short bed 4wd z71 and I noticed a bad shake from 65 mph - 75 mph the second day i had it. I ended up taking it to a shop the same day and having the tires balanced and I did notice that helped, but didn't solve the problem.

 

I started fumbling through Google looking to see if this was a known issue and I found this thread. I read the first 10 pages before I realized there was 625 pages in this thread.

 

I assume this is a huge and very common issue due to the fact of activity on this thread. I am going to continue reading every post because I am extremely curious, but in the meantime can someone tell me if i'm screwed?

This truck has 60k miles and has a 2" leveling kit on it. 20" wheels with 33" tires. Would I get laughed out of the dealership if I brought it in for the vibration issue?? I bought this truck 3 days ago and like it other than that fact (and one other small thing).

 

As someone stated in the first few pages, these trucks are expensive and I like the truck a lot, but these issues are keeping me from loving the truck.

Do the vibrations get worse in Auto 4wd or 4wd for you guys? I was getting a nice vibration in my steering wheel in Auto 4wd around 40mph.

There's a recall and a couple of SB's on the 4wd geometry. Might check with dealer to see if they've been done.

Good news. Shakerado is gone. I simply got to a point that I hated driving the vibrator and dealIng with GM. So, now I have a proven truck with the only issue is that it eats gas. Runs like a truck, but smooth without the shake. Sounds note is a bit more throaty and love it. Definitely worth the $ I lost on the GM. I look forward to driving my truck now!!! GM- get your act together or your sales or your sales will continue to decline

Second Pico scope incoming and probably more tires. I'll say that the dealer service has not turned me away yet, but it just seems like stall tactics. No fix in sight.

YES, mine does the same and gets worse at higher speeds. dealer told me "running as designed"... really? I will revisit this, as I did not know there was a TSB out on it. Kind of gave up on any hope of a fix for this truck.

When they road force balance the tire, they are actually measuring the high and low spots during rotation which can be caused by both tire and rim. What they do to try and correct it is rotate the tire on the rim to even out the highs and lows. If this can't be done to within spec, then they use a different tire.

Some have found that after this, they have noticed the tires slip on the rim over time and don't stay in the same place. The best thing to do is to mark the tire with paint or similar indelible method at the point where the valve stem is. If the tire slips on the rim, you will see right away. This means your RFB is no longer good and needs to be done again, or better yet, ask why the tire is slipping on the rim.

Well, done with GM now. Got a call from GM saying that the truck is still vibrating but within GM specs. It will truly be the last money GM ever sees from me. 11 days in the shop, and although we know there is still vibration, we that think that some amount is OK on a 50k truck.

 

When the vibration gets worse again it will be lemon law time, as I am now at 4 visits and 11 days in the shop, in the first 20 days of ownership. GA law is 3 attempts and a final notice or 30 Calendar cumulative calendar days within the first 24 months/24k miles.. I explained to GM "customer service" that if I had to take this all the way to lemon law final notice there would be no option for a trade assist. Going all the way to arbitration and buyback now. Will also be replacing my wife's Acadia next year with an Infiniti or Lexus.

*Update* ..... They still have it from last Wednesday. I'm fairly confident that bad news will be my diagnosis. Right about now, I'd take a trade assist. 2 dealerships, 3 months of ownership, 4 tires, and 6 trips for the same problem. Even my kid wants to know the whereabouts of my truck.

      There was talk over the last couple of years that the contract to build these trucks between GM and International would not be renewed.  International moved production of all their other trucks besides the companion CV model out of the Springfield plant some time ago when they opened their San Antonio plant.  That left Springfield only building the Silverado Medium Duty, International CV Series, and some Express/Savanna long wheelbase cutaways.  International also put the plant up for sale some time ago.  This all answered my earlier question as to why GM and International did nothing with these trucks since they were introduced, as they had basically become a market 'placeholder' with a finite life.    The Silverado Medium Duty/International CV trucks were interesting combination of a GM powertrain, electrical system, and K2XX Silverado cab with an International chassis that was supposedly designed for a step-van type vehicle they never produced.  They were manufactured in International's Springfield plant along with the IH MV series initially.  When first introduced, there was much talk that the Silverado Medium Duty/CV would eventually get a gasoline engine option along with other upgrades and GM and IH would work on a class 6/7 joint venture truck.  This was before VW bought Navistar out, after that happened no more was said.  Draw your own conclusions...   About the time talk started that the GM/IH joint venture was not going to be renewed, rumors started that GM would develop a new line of medium duty trucks themselves.  The story is the new trucks will be part of the next generation HD's due in 2028, and will still feature a 'straight rail' chassis design that the current medium duty has.  GM views this as a desirable feature that differentiates their truck from the competition.  A gasoline engine option is also expected.  As the current Silverado Medium Duty remains in production until September 2026 and there is still a lot of inventory available do not expect any official word for some time.   I believe GM remains committed to their successful partnership with Isuzu, and all the LCF models will still be available from Chevy Commercial dealers.  Isuzu is on the cusp of opening a new large plant in South Carolina and there is also speculation that this may result in new product for both Isuzu and Chevy Commercial dealers.

      I have a 2026 2500 HD Ultimate. My phone app says there’s a software update available. It’s something about improved battery management and something to do with the running boards. I follow the instructions for the update but the “Check for Updates” option is greyed out in my settings menu. Has anyone else seen this? How did you resolve it? The help message just says “see your dealer” if the download doesn’t work. I’m just trying to save a trip.

      Fuel mileage?  That's all how you use your right foot.  Exhaust will give you sound.   Stock exhaust 5.3 is 2.75" diameter piping.     If the truck is nice and worth putting some $$ into it, I'd go for a Corsa catback.  I had one on my 2019 old body 5.3 and it was just perfect.  Zero drone, just driving around and cruising on the highway you'd think it was stock, but when you opened it up it was like a Camaro with the factory dual mode.  Corsa bumps their catback to 3in diameter.
