This is a epic fail on gm's part. Multi billion dollar company and they can't fix there seat. Come on gm you look lazy and greedy.

With all the millions of recalls GM is having right now we are last in line, much like the ignition problems they are having someone will have to have a serious accident before it gets addressed..

Thank you to hotrodz37. Just did this fix with a 3/4" hose clamp and some spare rubber laying around the shop. Works great and no more seat movement.

I too have this problem, 5500 miles. I have not spoken to my dealership yet, but will do this soon. Odd that I can trace this forum thread way back to last year and GM has not been able to fix this automatically for their 2014 vehicles built this year.

I have done the hose clamp and rubber fix to my Sierra and it has worked FLAWLESSLY the past week. I am so happy I can drive without tightening my cheeks around turns :)

Do you have any part #'s off the work order? I'm interested to know what exactly they replaced? Much appreciated and please report back in a couple weeks to see if the repair holds.. Thank you from us all...

I'll let you know. They did it last week and it's been fine since. They had to order in the part took 2 or 3 days. They also totally redid the frame and no more rust or chipping. Total removal of the grease/wax then under coated black. They do about a truck every 3 days.

I did the rubber and clamp fix a week and a half ago and it's been great ever since. It's certainly made the driving experience so much more enjoyable!

I really haven't followed this thread since I got rid of my first truck with its moving seats. I'm glad someone found a "fix" for a problem GM can't seem to figure out.. I'll keep this in mind if I have any issues with mine. Thanks hotrodz for the clever fix. BTW I clamped my adaptive valve open w a hose clamp too lol.

I have moved it every way possible and mine is still holding strong. Go for it!

There is supposed to be a redesigned part to fix this issue, still waiting on it to arrive but once it does and gets installed I post a picture.

I went ahead and did the hose clamp fix today and it completely eliminated it. Will have to see how it holds up. Hopefully it holds till the new part comes out.

I have only had my truck for two weeks and maybe it was my imagination, but I was hearing a click when I went around a curve. I didn't feel any movement, yet. So I decided to try to do the DIY fix on page 19 of this thread as a preventative measure to support the existing hardware.

 

The 1" hose clamps were no problem to find, but I wasn't sure where to find the clamps with the rubber insert. Anyway, long story short if you want to do this the clips in the photo below were what I used. I found these in the electrical section (near the electrical conduit) in Lowes. These clamps were 1 inch and I didn't need the total amount of rubber so I clipped off what wasn't needed on the hose clamp. Easy fix, just hope it keeps me from getting the full fledged problem. Ounce of prevention worth a pound of cure?

Each pack came with one clamp and was $1.68.

 

Some of you may have already known where to find these, but I had to hunt. I thought I would share the info in case there was someone else like me out there searching for these.

I had a hard time finding those clips too. I ended up cutting a bicycle tube and putting the hose clamp over that. So far so good zero movement.

TBN and ZDP levels matter. The one thing not covered was sufficient viscosity. Sad.     And yet we now have since API SN lower amount of them all with the only real change being a slight up tick in base oil selection. Along with lower concentrations of everything that makes oil work and lower and lower viscosity there is still an insistence on longer OCI's.    How low does the peanut butter and jelly level have to get before we say it's just white bread folded?    The new smoke and mirror treatment is the 'additives are INVISIBLE' to UOA testing with a health dose of TRUST ME.    I'm not picking on AMSOIL. This is coming from all of them. Every last one of them that abandon the low wear model in favor of the high mpg/EPA compliance model. 
    • First off use it in the way you’re more comfortable. In working in off road situations most of my life I used 4WD low range very little. In most cases when equipped I used auto 4WD. If I wanted maximum control going up and down very steep terrain  I used low range. Especially if I was driving a diesel. Same with very rutted terrain. In very muddy or snowy conditions I wanted momentum so high range worked well for that. With gravel ramps with limited traction I would try high range first. I would want smooth even increasing speed if I was fighting traction. Low range could give you too much to the wheels breaking traction trying to move. 
    • Having owned 4wd vehicle since the 1970s I find there are varying opinions on how to use 4wd, every owner is an expert in their minds.  IMO, 4LO is the appropriate gear and what I would use,  You have to feather the gas to avoid spinning tires and the lower the gear the better chance.  But like I said you will find those that think their method is best.  I live near a boat launch.  Yesterday there was a new Ford Maverick pulling out a pontoon boat almost 2x its size, they had no problems and they don't have a LO range.   True story. One winter day not long ago I was coming out of small town post office and there was a F150 4wd parked in front and was stuck foot deep snow ruts. I knew the lady so I asked her to put it in 4wd (wondering why in the middle of a 2-day snow storm she wasn't).  Her reply surprised me, "my husband" (the expert) told me not use that because it uses too much gas. She finally got unstuck spinning in 2wd which likely used more gas than not.  
    • Your tire pressure issue may just be batteries, you can reset them using tge Ing switch (I think) and the owner's  manual. ChatGTP will b e a faster, better help than Google.
    • The thinking is that starting out in a higher gear makes it easier to avoid applying excessive torque when pressing the gas pedal. In a modern 4wd truck with 4 low and a limited slip or locking rear end, I would use 4 low and try to crawl up the ramp. Sometimes if they are too slippery, you have to back up to let the boat have some bouyancy, and then accelerate briskly to get some momentum to help you pull the through the slippery parts.
