I've had the stone hitting the windshield but haven't heard it for a long time and actually forgot about it until I read this post. I've also had the dash above the radio and the dash panel under the steering wheel.

The steering wheel panel has been driving me nuts and it by far the worst (#4). It sounds like a 1/2 full container of tic tacs rattling. I took the panel off and the metal panel was loose so I put O rings over each of the plastic studs to help tighten up the metal panel. When I went to reinstall the the plastic panel on the truck I thought I should check the 4, 7mm screws that are holding the dash under that panel and I could turn them by hand! It took about 3 to 4 turns of my ratchet to get them to even snug up. I'm thinking I was hearing the washers on the screws rattling. Wonder what else they forgot to tighten? Or with how hard my ride is did they loosen up? It took about 10,500 miles before I heard it so I'm thinking they latter.

Anyone heard a strange high pitched electrical noise when using 4WD Auto, Hi or Lo?

I started using 4WD since we got some snow and this noise is just brutal. Sounds like a misquito in my ears! If I use 4WD auto the sound pulsates and gets even more annoying.

The radio wont even drown it out, it's too high pitched. It kind of sounds like some of the tones they play in a hearing test LOL.

I have the stone hitting the windshield sound, seems to be a temperature differential between cab/outside... Don't know if there will ever be a fix for that. I usually only get it when the truck is still warming up in the cab.

I have rattles and shakes and noises coming from both driver and passenger doors, sounds like a bottle banging around in the cup holder almost.

MINE SOUNDS LIKE A PAINT CAN IN A CLOTHES DRYER. GM SHOULD MAKE EAR PLUGS AND A FLOWMASTER 10 SERIES AS STANDARD EQUIPMENT.

I thought this to, then once I started believing it was temperature related it started making the noise when the temperature didn't matter. Mine only does it in motion and on a 400 mile trip can happen any time. There are times that it happens that it is obvious that it is stress from the truck, for instance taking a corner fast.

The other day it was doing it regularly. I beat the dash a bit and it stopped. I think it is stress in the way the dash fastens together.

Just had the headliner rattle fixed at my local GMC dealer. They installed insulated clips per a GM document number. Rattle there is now totally fixed. I still have the occasional pop sound from the windshield area but that's a lot more intermittent. Lastly there is a small rattle from the center console that I still need to get to the bottom of.

Having the headliner with the sunroof rattle gone was the biggest possible upgrade of the three though!

God, this is starting to depress the hell out of me, since I registered I have done nothing but read every single post in this Section of the forum and everyday it just gets worse and worse. Just find it unacceptable all these issues, I had extremely high expectations for this truck as it was going to be my next.

I too have the "stone hitting the windshield" cracking sound when I drive down the freeway. I've had my 14 Sierra All Terrain for a little over a month now and have about 2000 miles on it. I started hearing the sound within the first week of ownership and like everybody else I thought it was a rock hitting the windshield. It's a little dissappointing that it's happening, but my biggest gripe with the truck is the throttle response, man is it slow... I end up flooring it all the time just to get it moving!

How long does the warranty cover fixing these rattles? Not for the whole 3/36 is it?

Until your first dealer visit when the tech says "Cannot duplicate" and the service manager says: "NORMAL"!

My 6.2 jumps right out there.

I found when I start hearing the "stone hitting the windshield" sound often, If I beat on the dash it seems to stop. :smash:

Maybe it is a coincidence, I do not know. :dunno:

    • Yep! This should be a pin somewhere as @pgamboa really dives into all of this. Thanks for reposting the link!
    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
    • Atlas, you kill me As aggravating as a project like this can be you have been unable to hide your fascination with learning and using that angst against this beast like a Ninjitsu Master. It amuses you, admit it now.      BTW, love your writing style. 😉
