issue RECALL - Fire Risk

Seems after driving a while it has re-learned its behavior and mileage has come back to norm, average 17-18 have about 1500 miles after the recall reprogram. Maybe takes a bit to relearn?

My mileage has seemed to go to shit after the update too, has anyone elses gotten better?

my dealer actually came to my house Friday, picked my truck up, left me a loaner, and drove it to service area and did the recall. will be watching mileage very closely, I can't get much worse (currently at 13.4 with 3300 miles, 60/40 city highway).

My Texas Edition Silverado went up a little more than a mile per gallon and runs much smoother (engine and transmission) and stays in v4 mode much longer. The dealership did all the computer updates including the one for fire risk and fixed the rear slider although it worked just fine. Having my z 71 Silverado done this next week.

Had my recall fix done last Friday and maybe have had a drop of 0.5 MPG on half a tank of gas before filling up again. That is still within my variance from tank to tank prior to the re-flash. I have the 4.3 so it maybe a different set of parameters for the tune re-flash.

Anyone notice any difference in engine sound after the 14008 update and 13300 sub-update for AFM?

My Engine seems louder/grittier at low end, did notice a little more pedal response at low end too. With the louder/grittier sound, the v4 drone is a little more noticeable too. 5.3L, all stock. Any similar observations?

I've only had one trip(43 miles) to work this morning after my recalls and I seem to be getting better mpg. I wont get too excited unless it stays like that for the whole week

Seems to be too many factors to really know what is happening with the gas mileage. I think the main factor is your right foot weight LOL. My truck was supposedly fixed before I bought it 1-17-14 the sales dude explained to me that they had all worked 12 hours a day for the last few days before i bought mine to get them all moved in and fixed so they could sell the trucks. I joined the Fuelly site last week and am intending to run 5 or 6 tanks of my local stores nonethanol 87 octane fuel and see what I average then I may try some E85 for 4 or 5 tanks just for grins and giggles. I am really curious to see if the ethanol really ruins your mileage.............

I am overly smooth on the gas (shocking myself sometimes)...I do however idle during these winter months which I'm confident is killing my mileage. I pretty much just drive around town as I have a company car, so I'm sire THAT doesn't help as much either...bla bla bla.

There is no doubt that E85 significantly drops MPG. I took a 300 mile road trip a few months ago and got 19.5 on the way down on regular gas. When I filled up on the way back I used E85 and got 15 with the same driving conditions. Not worth it. Never again.

Unless you need the HP for something, E85 is a waste of money and a scam. Energy dilution with a corrosive substance by government mandate.

The only reason the government likes ethanol (and gives OEMs a big CAFE credit) is for the reduction in fossil fuel usage. They're trying to reduce our crude intake. Plain and simple. Same thing with E10.

For the FUEL consumer, E85 is a wash. $$$ per mile is essentially the same compared to E10 or E0. The problem is that ethanol is largely produced from corn, which impacts the farming and ranching industries to some degree. I've heard that E85 may actually drive up the cost of other farm and ranch grown items. So it may not be a wash when you look at how E85 impacts other US industries and products.
