Attention : owners with problems with HD radio. Go to [email protected] or just Google Ibiquity and choose contact us. These are the people responsible for our problems, it is their technology. When you get there they ask for comments. There are 2 lines in orange, choose the one that says HD radio experience. They ask for a station, then there are places to comment. Let them know how you feel about the performance of your radio. Be sure to mention you have a 2014 GM truck. They even have a picture of the radio in a 2014 GM truck on the home page. If enough people complain to them, maybe they can light a fire under GM to do something. Nothing will get done from GM so please If you have a problem do this, you paid good money you deserve good service. Thanks.

I posted this in the other HD section but this should not be buried 9 pages back, sorry moderators.

See update post several posts down. I have tried to explain this as it was explained to me. Thanks for participating

No complaints no action. That is why the title says complaints only. If yours works, lucky you, enjoy. Mine does not and "that's the way it is supposed to be" from dealer is not going to cut it.

Go to a different dealer or call GM directly. Going directly to the supplier will acomplish nothing.

Been to three dealers, have opened a case with GM. If the supplier thinks for one second that the brand name is being harmed by GM they will most certainly try to see why. I spoke to the station engineer at the largest station here. He says Ibiquity is very concerned in an emerging tech market that their system works as good as it can. They have cars that ride around with equipment to test the perameters of the broad cast stations, they are that concerned with function. So you don't think they would want to know that there is a problem, even a small one?

If you bought tires for your truck and there was a big bubble in one and the place you bought it from said "that's the way it is supposed to be" would you accept that just because the other 75% of the tires you bought are fine, does that make the 25% ok. I'm sure you would contact the manufacturer and complain that the seller is giving you crap. A good manufacturer would solve your problem. that is what I hope to accomplish for myself and the apparent other 10% of people with this problem.

Its not just gm. Top of the line brand new porsche models do this. All new cars with this hd radio always cut in and out frequently. Is there a way to turn it off?

I have and still have other vehicles with HD radio. The 2014 Silverado is the only vehicle with HD issues and FM reception issues. I have been to dealer about this issue, nothing has been done as of yet. I think if the FM reception was better, the HD radio would work better. If I am in a spot where reception is good, HD radio works fine, the problem is that the FM reception is weak, so my HD drops in/out.

Update: I just got off the phone with a director from Ibiquity (he called me). They have been aware of the problem for some time now. It was explained to me that it is the coax cable that runs from the antennae to the radio is defective. The connector ends are not connected or shielded properly, this is letting all sorts of electronic interference in to the system. The radio is fine as they test each unit. The antennae is fine as well. They are trying to push GM to remedy this with a recall or service bulletin as needed for the cable. He says that this is a problem in over 50% of the trucks to one degree or another. He said the recall will take some time, both in getting GM on board and to acquire the proper cable. He stated that his people are very upset about this and are glad people alerted them. I hope this will help some of you. GM dealers are not now in a position to act. Replacing the radio as the gentleman said some dealers were doing will not correct the problem. All this over a $5 cable.

All this over a $5 cable.

Yes, but GM saved $1 on every cable by going to a crappy quality one and that translates to big money when you make hundreds of thousands of trucks. Problems with the cable is just an inconvenient consequence that they would love to sweep under the rug. And that cable is probably only one item of hundreds of components in the new trucks that are less than optimal in quality.

This latest trend in minimizing quality control at the component level, and then moving production to a third world country with potentially unskilled labor, while shamelessly increasing prices is a very negative trend that seems to have affected a lot of manufacturing today.

A $5 cable a few cents for resistors in the radio for the lights. It all adds up to savings.
