Just wanting to clarify some things. I have a 2015 GMC Sierra Crew Cab all terrain with a console in the middle.  I assume I have the 2.0 Module as I do not see the Projection Icon on my screen.. Can I just swap out to a 2.5 module programmed to my VIN off ebay and update the usb plugs?  I do not need nav.  I can use the phone for that.  If i could do it for $200-300 will do for sure, $500 maybe but more than that probably not.  Didn't some one successfully do it for around $200?

If you want to do it right, you’ll want to get the matching radio module as well. I presume you don’t have Bose either. So you’ll want to look for a Non-Bose Radio Module and Non-Nav 2.5 HMI.

The total cost for this upgrade will vary based on how much you can get hardware for should you decide to get it used from any other source. Have it supplied by the company above, you’re getting new hardware.

Okay, don't shoot me but my 2015 Silverado 2500HD has the I04 radio.  I would like to upgrade to the 8" screen.  That is all I really want due to the fact it sits in the garage 5 days a week and is not my daily driver.  I assume it is a matter of buying the 8" screen and updating my current HMI?   I just don't know if it is worth going through the hassle of updating everything for a truck that rarely gets driven.  Now if I could upgrade my 2017 Colorado work truck with the I03 radio and get the company to pay for it that would be awesome.

Mine will go weeks without being driven.  Still worth it.

I got my Denali cluster back from @th3magpi3 and installed last weekend in my 2014. I had already done the 2.5 HMI upgrade with radio and usb port. So the cluster was the last piece to get it all upgraded. All functions that I tested that should work are working properly. Glad to have steering wheel controls working with Android Auto now. The cluster I got was from a 2017 Denali that I found on ebay for a decent price.

I came home today to a nice programmed speedometer from @GTPprix today. A huge thanks to @pgamboa and Chris for getting me squared away. I got the 2.5 HMI installed on Christmas a couple of weeks ago. Having the speedo programmed gives me all the steering wheel controls back, plus some. I can use Siri from my voice command button and even have the 4x4 screen that I didn’t have it before on my old speedometer.

here’s a list of the part numbers that you would need to choose from.

This seems to be the most active thread devoted to this swap so thought I'd post in here even though I did it all in a Yukon.  I did the full HMI, radio and Denali cluster upgrade to get android auto in my 2015 Yukon SLT.  @GTPprix did the programming and everything is working perfectly as far as I can tell and it looks great.  There are some quirky issues with my phone but it works great with the wife's phone so I don't think there's an issue with the system.

I sourced all the parts used on car-part.com which took some time but saved me quite a bit of money.

For the Yukon, the install isn't quite as straightforward as I thought it would be and I think it's a bit more complicated than the Silverado/Sierra.  Removing and reinstalling the radio and HMI is a bit challenging due to how tight everything is.  Smaller hands would have been helpful especially for the HMI.  The cluster required removal of a lot more pieces than I thought and things would have gone a bit more quickly if I had fully lowered and extended the steering wheel right away.  Overall the install took me about 2 hours but I was working slow making sure I didn't damage any interior pieces.

Just wanted to post a little informative set of photos that might help a few of you out.

I know a few people have struggled with the removal and installation of the upgraded USB ports - this should help everyone out.

The best way I've personally found for removal is by constructing a very simple/cheap tool to perform the task.

The gist of it is you'll want to get yourself a pair of cheap electronics tweezers. (Facial hair tweezers are often too thick for this application)

Simply bend the tips of a pair of flat tweezers 90 degrees and widen the tweezers so they can clear the module. Once you have your bends, place the tips of the tweezers into the USB module notch and pull upwards. This will allow you to easily remove your USB module for replacement without forcefully prying on it like a lot of people do.

See the photos below for a visual guide on how easy the removal procedure can be done.

If you have any questions regarding the upgrade or would like a kit please see our website https://coastalflash.com for upgrade options ?

Happy modding, friends.

Thanks for all the helpful information! I am currently collecting parts to do this for my 2015 Silverado. I bought a 2.5 HMI unit on eBay and the seller still has some of them. I paid $125 which was the cheapest I have seen so far for the HMI and I am working on ordering the other parts detailed in this thread. Here is the listing in case anyone else is searching for parts - https://www.ebay.com/itm/202899536133

The third party Nav apps coming to iOS is what finally lit the fire under me.

Also, don’t pay $600 for just the HMI module. Look in the comments of the YouTube video. There’s a guy listed there selling them for far cheaper than that.

The YouTube video? Which one out of the billions of videos? I need this android  auto for my 2014. But I need to make payments too. So I need a cheap option here

    • same here , i have a 2020 first gen and the cost to repair these engines far excedes replacement
    • But Grumpy I did show several subdivisions that had homes starting in the 170K range. If you bought a Townhouse or Condo you could go cheaper. Same with a car 3000 dollars in the 70s translates to around 20K today. There are several models at that price. You actually get more for the money. In the 70s I drove a 3000$ car bought a 28K home and made 4.50 per hour. Thank goodness for overtime. Today I could buy a 170K house drive a 20K car and make 25 dollars an hour operating the same machine today. The difference the house, car, machine would be better and have AC. And I wouldn’t be taxed on overtime. And statistically your wife works too. Easing the burden. I thought we agreed to disagree. I brought receipts earlier, showing examples. I think you’re more stubborn than me. I was done with this debate.
    • I’m definitely interested to hear the end result here.
    • My 2025 Silverado 1500 had to receive a brand-new engine (long block) under warranty last month at only around 16,500 miles. Before the replacement, the truck repeatedly displayed "Engine Oil Level Low" warnings, even though the Oil Life Monitor still showed around 50% remaining after about 6,000 miles since my last oil change. After seeing the warning several times, I checked the dipstick with the engine cold, and the oil level was completely normal. The next day, the message escalated to "Add Engine Oil." At first, I assumed it was just a faulty oil level sensor, so I brought the truck to the dealership. After inspecting the engine, they found internal cylinder wall scoring and ultimately replaced the entire long block under warranty. Before this happened, I was planning to install a 4-inch lift and suspension upgrade on my truck. After needing a new engine at just 16,500 miles, I honestly don't see the point anymore. I also contacted GM to ask whether my vehicle qualified for a buyback, but I was informed that it does not at this time. Anyway, this experience has left me with serious concerns about the long-term reliability of this engine. I sincerely hope NHTSA expands the current investigation or recall to include 2025 model and performs a thorough inspection of affected vehicles. My biggest concern is that these engines may fail shortly after the powertrain warranty expires. If GM truly stands behind this engine, then at the very least, please consider extending the powertrain warranty to 10 years for affected owners. That would go a long way toward restoring customer confidence.
    • Without exception but then I'm the odd duck, right? I know what goes into that test, how it is calculated and thus how to beat it. But EPA values are often not beaten by the general public and the government has in past years adjusted the means and methods to come to those values to more closely approximate "Joe Average".    The only real trick to beating that EPA average is don't drive like "Joe Average".    It's the same method you used to profit from "Economic Migration" and in doing so beat the 'stats'. But you, like me, are not "Joe Average".     The thing you don't seem to grasp is this "Purchasing Power Index" isn't forward looking. It doesn't predict what it going to be but looks backward and states what it was. They are not telling us what the THINK, they are telling us what they MEASURED. Example:    Wife says "I'm going to lose 40 pounds by Christmas". May she does, maybe she doesn't but the doctors office who weighed her when she made that statement and again at Christmas only REPORTS what the RESULT was. You and I can banter about what was possible and what aunt Tilly did till the cows come home but the result is the result. Arguing otherwise is.....irrational. That's all I'm saying. This isn't about:      What you are calling a 'Statistic' is a RESULT not a CALCUATION and as a result the RULE. Like gravity as a rule, it can not be broken.
