Has anyone tried this mod on a 22 refresh RST because I'm trading my 21 RST tomorrow?

I used the 13540312 mirror on my 21 and it has worked perfectly with the wiring harness in the head liner. From my initial once over the shroud around the mirror is much larger, I guess for the crash avoidance equipment. Just going to check here first before I order the same mirror.

Did you ever figure this out? If so could you provide the part numbers and details on how it was performed?

I did but it wasn't as simple as it was on my 21. They changed the headliner harness on the refresh and the plug for the mirror is not there.  I had to purchase a pigtail and hot tap my headliner harness for power.

Pigtail Plug

The pig tail has 3 wires a red, black and a green. The red wire is needs to be a ignition switched 12 volt power. The black is a ground and the green is a reverse kicker switch. This kicker circuit disengages the auto dim when the transmission is in reverse. The kicker is optional and I did not use this wire.

Far as the mirror. If you have the auto crash avoidance you need the mirror below because the plug is horizontal to miss the sensors.  Hope this helps.

Which location did you tap into the harness? I do have the crash avoidance in my truck. When you say you need the mirror below, does this mean there is not physically room for the harness to plug into the mirror? I pulled my truck apart the day after I got it and was really disappointed to see there wasn’t a blind harness in the headliner. Seems like they used it to power the crash system.

The "mirror below" is in reference to the link below that paragraph to GM part #13540313. If you use the GM part #1354012 mirror the plug will hit the sensor below the mirror.

Far as what wires to tap see the picture below this is the overhead console where the dome light and sunroof controls are. I would recommend using volt meter first to determine the the purple/white wire is a 12 volt switched power and the black/white wire is ground. Using the upfitter manual is a good start on electrical and plug diagrams.

Thank you. This is great. At first glance I did not see that the mirror you linked had a horizontal plug. At first I though it might be possible to tap the crash harness wires but they’re not proper voltage and I don’t think they’re’s a ground. Nice work.

Has anyone changed the side mirrors to auto dimming? Just got my 22 Sierra and neither the inside or outside dims.

You’re the second person to ask this. I’ll repost it because i want an auto dimming driver side mirror and I can’t seem to find a part # for that anywhere.  IMO an auto dimming interior mirror is almost useless if the driver side mirror is still blinding me.

Not sure if you already did this or not, but this wiring schematic from GM Upfitter may help. I'm going to try tackling this once my mirror and harness show up in my 2022 refreshed RST. Looks like Pin 5 (BK/WH) should be the negative and Pin 8 (WT) will be the positive. Not too concerned about using the reverse wire on the harness.

Thanks for everyone's help on this, hope I can make it work!

Has anyone successfully added the rear view mirror camera to the refreshed 22+ trucks? Seems like most of the leg work was done above, but only for the auto dimming mirror.

The refresh trucks don't have the wiring or plug for the mirror above the headliner like the older trucks.

I saw that, just wondering if anyone took the time to wire tap and install the camera mirror.

Trying to add the camera mirror to my 21 RST. I was able to verify I had the 10 pin connector in my headliner. I purchased the mirror(13536955), third brake light(84929551), and a camera cable that I saw someone use for a retrofit into a 2015.

I got everything installed and the mirror powers on when I start the truck. However, I am not getting any video feed to the mirror. My 10 pin looks to match up with the diagram discussed in this thread.

Does this sound like I’m missing something or does anyone have any suggestions on getting the video feed working? Any help is greatly appreciated!

If the mirror powers up, then the 10 pin connector is good. All it provides is power and ground. I'd check that both ends of the blue camera cable are seated entirely, and if they are, start by trying another cable. Otherwise there is a bigger issue.

Got the auto dimming mirror with the harness installed in my 2022 refresh over the weekend. Works as it should,; much better than having to manually dim the mirror when some dick won't turn off their brights as I pass them.

Can you be more specific as to how it worked out? I added the mirror to my 2017, by wiretapping power and ground, but how exactly did you go about powering, and getting dimming feature, ect..?
