I don't have a video, but if I ride down the highway at 45 mph for a few minutes, my hand will be tingling from the steering wheel vibration. Mine has been in the shop(dealer) twice now without a fix and is supposed to go back to dealer again Friday. I said the heck with it and went ahead and called GM today to open a case. Don't know if that will help at all, but after reading all these post I'm not going to waste anymore of my time with the dealer without GM involved.

Same here. I feel like unless you get GM involved the dealer isn't going to want to look further into any issues. They come back with the responses of "cannot duplicate your concern" or "working properly as designed"

I've had mine to the dealer a few times now for the 40-50mph vibe with little luck. It's been about a month since it's been in but I noticed on the highway the other day that my steering wheel is no longer straight while going down the highway. Try to straighten it up and it veers left. I'm hoping that has something to do with the vibe otherwise I'll have no choice but to call gm. The dealership has been nice but they have run out of options and won't take my courtesy hint to get gm involved. Goes in Thursday morning, hopefully they give me some good news.

Think when I joined this thread it was about half the size, absolute shame gm hasn't taken this seriously with such a nice looking vehicle.

I don't blame you, I would get GM involved. Let me know how it goes Thursday. What all has your dealer tried so far? Sounds like we have the same issue.

Normal bs stuff, rotating tires, road force balance. They tried the newest driveshaft. Only three things but mind you, they took two weeks to do those!

Hi

So I took my truck in. First thing they did was swap out to a new set of tires and rims from a 2015 silverado, I went out with the mechanic that had a harmonic vibration analyzer. Guess what no vibration what so ever, right to the cut off limit 6 times over and she was smooth as a Caddy.... grin (very happy). My dealer said 2 tires needed to be replaced on my truck which by the way are after market. Mine actually have a hop to them when you run it on the balance machine funny they balanced out almost perfectly. He also said one of my good tires was out.50 oz but ran truer on the machine than any tire he has come across lately ... Go figure, I called my after market tire dealer and he says lets rotate the 2 tires 180% to see if that fixes the problem before I warranty the tires which will need to be ordered 10 days out 2 hr drive each way. Mental note, buy local and pay a little more now or even more later. I hope this info helps some others here, let's really check these tires out.......

I mean get the balance guy to run them in front of you so that you can see for yourself if the tires are no good or are running true. My mechanic said he sees bad tires all the time or overtime they get messed up (belts inside the tire are weak and deform). Sometimes a tire balancing tech never looks at the tire and solely relies on his machine, sure it's balanced. However the tire isn't round causing a hop condition. Balancing guy insists the tire is balanced and hey it very well might but that doesn't mean the tire runs true.

Maybe I just got lucky here and it was only tires in my case, I am very happy with the result and love my truck again.

Hopefully everyone here will get their vibration issues resolved.

They did that 2 times with my truck. The results always are "normal". And the "normal" is defined by GM... Good luck!

Here' s another thought. I have had 2 sets of tires on factory 18 inch rims that caused the truck to shake. GoodYears that came with the truck and then swapped out to winter hankook pikes. Then I upgraded to 22 inch rims, used tires 30% tread left less vibration than the other 2 sets on factory rims and then the brand new falkens that 2 tires are out of round but happens to be the smoothest out of the bunch and they are out of round. I know this sound weird and what are the odds I have had 4 sets of bad tires wow...Now maybe these trucks are more sensitive to tires and rim than others, don't know and maybe my dealer just happens to have the most perfect set of tire and rim combo from a 2015 silverado.. Hmm I say but hey my bet is to really check your tires over, cannot emphasize this more. My dealer is fully aware about the vibration comments in these forums and they were very professional in dealing with my issue. They had a tool that showed the vibration originating at the drivers side front and rear tires confirmed by their balancing machine and viewed by me. Could very well be that these trucks are sensitive a need a good true rim and tire that's balanced. Wonder if I shoulda bought Michelins instead of Falkens?

All I know is that my issue has been tires all along, Good Grief......

I observed coming home from work this morning in cooler temps my truck rode like a cadillac at all speeds that were previously giving me shaking and vibrations (70-80mph). My tires are Michelins set to 32 psi cold (recommended on door tag). It was 60 degrees F this morning on my 30 mile all highway commute home. My trans temp was 170 degrees F. I also didn't experience any harsh downshifts or clunks on decel.

Something tells me that something in the driveline is out of spec or warps when it is hotter because when it is 80 degrees outside my truck doesn't ride this nice on the highway that's for sure.

Has anyone been able to notice these same results? Any ideas or input? My truck goes back to the dealer on Monday of next week.

My problem in mainly between 40-50mph. Drives smooth up until you get to 40mph and then the steering wheel starts vibrating and it does this all the way to 55 mph nearly. You can hear a slight humming noise at these speeds too. It seems to smooth back out above 55. If you are driving where the speed limit is 45mph for example, the vibration will drive you nuts. Mine seems to do it not matter what the temp is. It was about 90 degrees yesterday afternoon and about 60 degrees this morning and the problem was the same for mine.

Mine has been at the dealer twice now. The first time they said they balanced the tires and no change, still vibrated. The second time they road forced balanced the tires and again no change, still vibrates just like it always does. I did notice that they had balancing weights stacked on top of each other on my front driver's side tire. A total of about 4.5 ozs. The passenger side front tire has about 3.5ozs. It looks so tacky on a 40K + truck. You can see all the weights plain as day. One back tire don't even have a weight unless it fell off and the other one only has .5 oz.

Like I said in my earlier post, I broke down and called GM yesterday to open a case. They said the Regional Rep would call me within 24-48. Guess we will see. Mine is supposed to go back in the shop Friday for the third time. Wonder where the GM Reps went that monitored this site?

Your issue seems to be different than what everyone else is experiencing on here. The majority of us have a vibration in the rear over 70 mph. While yours is definitely an issue, most of us seem to be fighting something completely different then what you are dealing with. But with all of us on here, we should be able to put our heads together and figure out all of these issues...eventually.

This discussion has me paranoid!!! Every little imperfection in the road has me thinking I picked the wrong truck. I had to take my '14 Durango to work just to see if it is the newly paved hwy that sucks or my truck. Fortunately it's just the road. My truck is smooth and silent (except for on the new multi million dollar hwy). I hope they get this worked out for everyone, so they can finally put out Amother recall or TSB. On a side note GM is sucking, because they're not going to fix my led ring on the HVAC knob or my tailgating cable... Still waiting for them to tell me they're not going to replace my bent/missing chrome bumper!

What is the likelihood GM will ever fix this issue?

Been a year since this was first reported on this forum. Seems very strange they haven't publically acknowledge the issue, and still have no solution.

This shake vibration is going to drive everyone crazy.Mine shakes at lower speeds in town, can feel it in my lower back from seat(like warped rear rotors while breaking)only slightly.

Usually I put in 5 gear and it helps a lot ,when it goes into v4 at lower speeds it's unbearable

(my ram did the same thing but not as bad) but I think this is a separate issue.

I think my vibration excluding the v4 issue is coming from the rear of the truck.I can't believe its tires because sometimes is is quite smooth.Took it in to make an appointment for the latest recall and the service person said they know about the vibration and will make it like new.Thats promising because it is new.I not giving up on gm yet but I've only had mine for a short time, not like some others.Someone said they think there's more than one problem and I believe that. But is it several things causing one problem or several things causing the same type of problem.

IMHO 4.5 oz on a tire is a little much even my shitty falken tires have no more than 1.5 0z and that's on the 2 tires that are out of round. Seriously check your tires for running true. My tire dealer said they make new vehicle so light and sensitive now that a set of tires like mine on a different vehicle you might not even feel what I do in my silverado.

To recap, my 2014 has the shake at 65 mph and up.

First service visit resulted in RF balancing. It made it a little better, not as severe, but still there.

Second service visit for shake was total dealer denial. No problems found, unable to duplicate.

I called GM.

Third service visit was for a loud bang/thump under the truck when accelerating from a stop. Dealer said unable to duplicate. No problems found. When I went to pick it up, I took the service manager for a ride to demonstrate the bang. He heard and felt it. Said it was normal.? WTF? He also would not ride far enough to demo the shake. Nearest smooth interstate to the dealer is 15 mi away. He said the shake was normal, bang/thump was normal and he was not going to do anyhting else for me about either one.

I spoke to my GM rep about all this. She said that since the service manager said it was fine, GM wouldnt help anymore with it.

Went to another local Chevy dealer and they wont get involved, although they did an around the block ride along and a GM tech confirmed that the bang/thump wasnt normal. They declined to ride along for a shake demo.

I have owned this shaking banging Silverado for about 3 weeks, it has less than 1k miles. Im not happy with all this at all. Its extremely frusrating to be repeatedly stonewalled like this.

This thread is huge. I didnt want to start another topic on the same problem here, so I did it on another site.

More info here; http://www.silveradosierra.com/uncategorized/2014-silverado-sierra-got-vibration-shake-at-highway-speed-t275290.html

I will update here too.

SO....my truck has been in the shop the last 2 days. I have a loaner truck and I thought I was losing my mind when I first got on the highway with the loaner. It drove exactly the same at the 74-84 mph bracket. I started to think I was just nuts, and had second thoughts about dropping my truck off, because I REALLY dont like others playing around and driving my vehicle once I purchase it.

Anyways, they have not been able to figure it out yet.....I had the oem wheels and tires roadforced balance by a local tiure specialist using the GSP9700 hunter, and the results were all single digits. The truck drove alot better than when I picked it up, and I would say it drove as good as with my Black Rhinos on it. But the shake was still there.....I did this because I wanted to rule out anyone saying "it's the aftermarket wheels" as was told to me before.

The dealership put another set of wheels on the vehicle, and it was still the same, although they did try to say that one of the tires had runout and needed to be replaced, even though the documentation I provided them from the roadforce had that same wheel/tire at .001 tolerance.

I mentioned to the service rep that the loaner truck drives the same way as my Denali, and it truly puzzled him, so he went and drove another truck off the lot, and guess what...it drove the same way....they all have a little shake in them....needless to say, they are at this point trying to figure out what to do next......

...I did mention new driveshaft / drivetrain balance / R&P......

...so here I am on day three hoping my truck doesn't aquire any damage/scratches since I left it with them in mint....I mean mint condition....

...this is what you find when you actually inspect your vehicle after someone else (who oh by the way probably doesn't care...its not theirs....and they drive a volkswagon....) has your vehicle in their possession. (picture attached)

.....no offense to the volkswagon....

    • not all plugs will be used.  gm uses more generic harnesses that support most/all options, and if your truck doesn't have a specfiic option, the plug won't be used (commonly will have a dummy insert in the plug , or it'll be taped up, but some may just be left as is).  But it's sldo possible some p.o. has installed the wrong/cheaper parts that aren't correct for your vehicle...
    • First off, I'm not trying to just get easy advice/fixes for the issues I've noticed so far.  I'll be combing through the site via searches and such, and if past experiences are any indication, should find what I need.  For the sake of conversation, though, I figured I'd post the handful of things I've noticed in the 12 hours since buying my 2010 SLE CCSB.     Indicator lights: Airbag and TPMS.  The tire pressures aren't reading for any of the wheels, so I'm pretty certain the sensors were either removed, are damaged, or are otherwise inoperable.  I used to mount and balance tires 25 years ago but am pretty much ignorant when it comes to TPMS.  My 2006 didn't have the sensors and this might be the fourth vehicle I've owned that does.     Radio: Rear speakers aren't working.  I removed the driver's side rear door panel and checked the speaker and wiring.  I also removed the sill and b-pillar covers to check the wiring.  A few minutes of Google Fu showed that this is potentially a head unit issue.    Switches: Power mirrors don't turn left/right.  I ordered replacement driver's door switches that should arrive tomorrow.  The windows and locks work but it was only about $20 for all of them.  The driver's side rear window switch lets the window down but won't put it back up.  I think the passenger rear doesn't work at all.  In the coming days/weeks, I'll break out my multimeter to check all of that.   Unknown wiring harness: There's a box attached to the front driver's side of the engine compartment, right where the second battery shelf is located.  There are three plugs, one of which looks like it fits a standard headlight-style bulb (9007 or similar).  It doesn't look like it's plugged into anything.  I'll do some digging and if I don't see anything elsewhere on the site, post some pictures here.   Unknown plugs on brake booster: There are at least two female plugs on the brake booster that aren't being used.  I think it might be a replacement/aftermarket, so maybe those are used for a different application, as there don't seem to be any unplugged harnesses and no indicator lights are on.   Little squeaks when turning: Sounds almost like a bushing around the bed of the truck.  I'll have to pay close attention as I get more familiar with the truck.   Clunk on acceleration: possibly the infamous drivetrain clunk.  My 2006 had it and I'm just not familiar enough with this truck yet to fully grasp what it is.   Anyway, my apologies for the vague and all over the place post.  This truck is new to me, and it's been four years since I drove my 2006.  With 200k miles, I know I'll need to learn this truck quickly to avoid having any major issues, despite being confident it's got much more life to it.  My 2006 had nearly 320k on it when I parked it (nearly 300k of which I put on the truck), and it was still drivable then, though I suspected the head gasket might have blown.  I'd hoped to have that truck back by now, but it's gone forever, as I detailed in my reintroduction thread.
    • I always drive in Sport mode. With more driving, I am finding the initial response when accelerating is much quicker now🖕 Lou
    • Is it an optical illusion in the pic or is the truck really squatting that much horribly?
