Post 6896 is a pic with the truck leveled with the body lift. Rough Country makes an 1.25" but I think the method to raise the bumper in the rear is a PITA with the RC. As it is with the zone 1.5" the bumpers are a pain in the ass, but it has to do with the way they are assembled from the factory. If you're going to put a body lift on yourself make sure you have a sawzall and angle grinder with a cut off wheel. The amp power steps present their own difficulties because of clearances, factory steps wouldn't cause an issue. I had the advantage of already taking the front and rear of this truck apart to install the grille and the sulastic shackles in the past. If anyone has questions regarding the install of the body lift feel free to hit me up.

 

I'm wondering how it would compare if there wasn't a leveling kit, just the body lift. I'll look around online. It seems there would be a way to change body mounts without doing a full body lift.

Would driving wooden wedges between frame and body parts help isolate the problem? Just a thought.It would be nice if someone found the problem and this thread dried up! It might be happening ! Comments from GM??? They are all watching football.

GM was great. They agreed to do a $5,000 trade in allowance on my 2015 Silverado 5.3 DoubleCab 4X4 LTZ. The truck had 4,000 miles on it and the vibration was unbelievable. It would make my wife car sick. I had to drive 6, yes 6, 2016s before we found one without a vibration. I ended up "eating" $7,000 to get into a 2016 but I felt it was worth it because I had a $48 (sticker price, not what I paid) truck that my wife couldn't drive in. 40 miles on the truck and it has the same nasty vibration from 70MPH and up.

 

All the dealer wanted to do, was keep road-force balancing the tires. I thought it was ridiculous. Rather than wait weeks for an appointment, I paid $2600 for new aftermarket rims and tires and I'm stuck with the exact same vibration. I am now $10k into this mess. Do yourselves a favor and warn people.

 

I have started this website as an attempt to protect others from buying a Silverado. It will take a couple of days before it is up.

I wonder if rubber (Softer) body mounts the same height or thickness of the stock ones would do the trick since they would be softer than the stock mounts. Would the previous gen truck mounts work.

If I was going to take a 10k hit then there is now way in hell I would have bought another chevy after going through all the trouble.

I would be driving a Tundra if the Toyota dealer wasn't well aware of the vibration issue. They had three 2014/2015 Silverados on their lot already. It's hard to disguise why you are trading in a truck with 4,000 miles on it. They weren't offering much for trade-in value.

You guys do realize there are state and federal laws to protect consumers such as yourself from these kind of things correct? You typically have at least 3 repair attempts and the legal representation is free because the lawyers can bill GM. You shouldn't be taking this crap if it's that bad. I got $4500 settlement from Ford because of my issues and it didn't cost me a dime. Just some time and paperwork.

YES!!! You sure as hell have dismantled that vibrating box on wheels. I had the info about the mounts from an attorney I spoke with. Once someone here brought it up, I said they were right (per the lawfirm) if anyone here remembers the Vibration TSB that was posted, lifting the bodies off the trucks momentarily with a pry bar was the solutions to one of the causes of Vibration. it said the mounts "settled", and allowed the transfer of vibration. I would guess that adding a lift would help to alleviate that, atleast for a time. I personally have no interest in putting a lift on this truck. I got the 22's to be a street truck, If I wanted a lifted off road truck, I would have gone a different route.

 

EDIT:

As a side note, I was at the dealer yesterday for my free 6,000 mi oil change, and asked the service writer to see if there have been any updates to any of the vibration issues. He said that the 2500 & 3500, now have a TSB to add some type of dampening system to the steering column for the AFM Vibration that they experience.... I asked why the hell they didn't do that to the 1500's, he didn't have an answer....

The funny thing is the 2500 & 3500 don't have AFM.

I'm going to monitor it throughout the week, I drive the freeway everyday and the speed limit is 70 so I often do 75-80. I'm also going to take some vibration readings using my phone like I had done in the past and compare the readings now to the previous analysis. Fingers crossed they don't return, but I'll keep everyone posted either way.

 

So you had the gas pedal vibration too and it went away?

 

My truck is a Z71... a lift would look pretty cool....

If the body mounts were the only problem with these trucks, GM would have fixed the issue by now on 2015 and 2016 models and they would have fixed the vibrating 2014 trucks as well. At least they would be replacing body mounts as the first attempt to fix vibrating problems under warranty. It looks like there are quite a few sources of vibration which are possibly amplified by the existing body mounts. I suspect that there are widespread quality issues affecting all kinds of driveline components so the fix is very expensive.

Maybe on the 15 and 16 MY's, but that would still mean they would have to redo the crash tests if they changed the body mounts

That is correct. For me the vibes were the worst in the steering wheel and center console, but they were also in the seat and gas pedal as well. All of them are gone had a nice vibration free drive to work at 75 mph this morning. Hopefully it's not a fluke that can be attributed to the cold weather or something else. Temps are in the high 20's low 30's in the morning and high 40's in the afternoon. Tire pressure was 32 psi which is a little low but I'm also running 10 ply LT tires as well.

If this winds up helping AbominableZ71 I have some thoughts on the body mounts.

 

A) It could be because of the added thickness absorbing the vibration

 

B) Could be different material in Zone body mounts that might help it damper road imperfections better

 

If it is B, I would even consider ordering the zone kit and cutting the body mounts to stock thickness and trying it.

 

Sure hope we are onto something here!

      And to top it off finally.......................these small GM LS engines are designed to SPIN!!!!!  Why choke them down to just off idle for cruising.  Why/how the "bean counters" have influenced the "engineering department" at GM is beyond me.   They took a solid platform of an engine and turned into a joke in OEM form!!!

Many MSM talents are married to Democrat politicians, Gov. employees. That goes for on-air and off, personalities and reporters. So they would all be biased and nothing they produce is to be believed in your mind?   Again the article simply was about ways AI can be used for pricing products. Nothing discounted current situations as a factor.    Again keep looking through your left/right lenses. This one wasn't that hard a lift.    I wrote a few formulas in a Lotus 123 program decades ago, a series of linked Macros actually, that allowed a daily inventory to be turned into a running P&L and production plan. Something that took three departments a week to assemble now took the time it takes to input the 'daily changes' in inventory. Later that was ungraded to the more powerful Excel program an and integrated with bar code scanning, inventory to supply was done once per shift. It had a huge impact on production scheduling, Seamless interruption flexibility, inventory error reduction, raw materials cost effective utilization and scrap reduction. Huge improvement in the bottom line. I spent months on that and AI could have done it in minutes. So yes, it not only can be used, they would be foolish to not try. The legality, ethics and morality are not the domain of AI. Humans need to keep a reign on it.
