Shake or Vibration Issues

You can properly balance a tire all you want but if it is a crappy tire it will always be a crappy tire and will require more weight to get it to balance. The flaw with the truck is that it is too sensitive to any thing that may cause a vibration which is every moving part on the vehicle. It is what it is and good luck on your buy back.

I complete agree, I had my 2015 crew cab in for the vibration and they found two tires were out of spec and couldnt be balanced properly so they replaced them... and it only cost me $198 to get 2 new tires on a truck with 15k miles. Has anybody else had to pay for their tires they had to have replaced? They were even going to make me pay for the balancing. AND GUESS WHAT, it still vibrates! have another appoint for tomorrow.

I would never pay out of my own pocket for any part while the truck is covered under warranty, including tires. Get your money back and tell them what you think of their shady way of doing business.

I had a 22" Bridgestone tire replaced, it did help to reduce the vibration, but did not eliminate it. it was replaced under warranty

just dropped the truck off for the final repair attempt, after having to argue about getting a loaner. They finally got me a rental Dodge Journey from Enterprise.... good enough. however, because they took so long to get back to me after receiving the letter, they only have until Wednesday to fix the truck 100% and they won't even start until tomorrow since the service department closes at 6:00. Keep ya posted

Who said that Ford Rangers were built in Mexico? I believe all were built in St.Paul, MN.

filing a complaint at nhtsa.gov is a good step to take - this will shed some light on the scope of the issue & possibly bring a better response for others as well.

 

knowing your state's lemon laws is another good idea as certain guidelines must be followed to retain rights = proper notification, trying arbitration?, filing legal action...

 

being polite to all involved goes a long way to maintaining respect & helping to ensure a good outcome for all...

 

my 2015 suburban has been vibrating for some time. working with the local dealer has been interesting & hopefully will produce a good outcome to further the brand.

 

our first (2004) suburban did not vibrate and had 168,000 miles when we found a new happy home for it. the tires were never road force balanced & we bought replacements (stor brand) from pep boys.

 

not sure why our 2015 suburban is vibrating and hopefully a solution will be found - soon:)

 

i believe gm will do the right thing for owners, eventually.

I have:

-5 completed repair attempts, and am on the 6th and final attempt

-Called GM atleast 5 times

-Provided dealers with information I have found and posted here, as well as taken information posted here

-Filed a complaint with the NTHSA

-Contacted attorneys and the Massachusetts Attorney General about all of the conditions

-Been to 2 different dealers, one of which I will NEVER go to again

-Never once yelled or even raised my voice at any GM employee, well maybe one, but he was just a service adviser at the dealer I wont go back to, and it was because he was trying to argue with me about the radio losing the mids and highs, and the shake that they "could not replicate" being normal to the vehicle. then he had the balls to tell me to drive in "M5" to help reduce the vibration from the AFM (which is what really set me off).

 

I now have a huge binder full of all of the information I have collected and all of my repair history

 

I agree that:

-Filing complaints anywhere and everywhere you can will only help your case

-You should learn everything you can about your states Lemon Law, the rights you have, the procedure to retain your qualification etc.

-Document EVERYTHING (take notes of any and all conversations, if you have emails - print them, print all published articles and TSB's posted, keep all of your service and loaner documents etc.)

-If you can, avoid the BBB as an arbitrator, Businesses pay the BBB to use their name and logo for advertising purposes, they are not a government agency and are paid for by businesses

-Be Persistent, remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. call and call and call some more. get repair attempt after repair attempt until something is done

 

 

Unfortunately for all of you, I do NOT agree that GM will ever admit to the problem, or some up with a resolution.

 

I'll keep everyone updated as my final repair attempt/ buyback/ whatever it ends up as proceeds

MY truck has been at dealer for a week. They have now ruled out tires and drive shaft. Last week they changed two rear shocks as one was leaking and other was weeping. Still vibrates. They thought they had it fixed after breaking tires down and doing a road force balancing, but when I went for a drive with service manager he even indicated that at 120 km/h he could fell it in his chest even. They are not denying I have an issue at all, but sure is frustrating. I have a rental, a 2016 silverado quad cab. Does not vibrate a bit. Makes me feel even worse about my truck because I am sure they are not going to be able to fix it.

I said that and I was partly wrong, they built a bunch in Argentina.

I have a rental, a 2016 silverado quad cab. Does not vibrate a bit. Makes me feel even worse about my truck because I am sure they are not going to be able to fix it.

 

If the '16 doesn't vibrate that means it CAN be fixed, since it's "the same truck" with... something... different that has fixed that. At least, that's my hope. My '14 vibrates at 70+ BAD and has done it for 40,000 miles. Posts like yours, that document what has been changed and what has/hasn't worked are very helpful. Keep us updated!

Today they are checking the pinion. ( I believe) hoping to have an update later today. The rental has 10,000 kms on it. Mine was vibing at 4000kms so...thats a good sign ;)

I see a lot of people stating they went the lemon law route. For those of you that went that route, how was the outcome?

 

I started going the Lemon Law route in my state (Georgia) and once I started asking the dealership questions regarding information needed, they mysteriously were willing to do a swap from my 2015 LT to a 2016 LTZ. There is a little vibration in the steering wheel as the truck reaches 73 mph, but after less than 10 seconds, it seems to dampen itself out and even though the speed and road conditions don't change, the vibration disappears. I will say that the 2016 that I have has restored my love for the truck.
