Well let me say this. My cousin and I actually purchased 2 GMC trucks together at the same time. Difference is his is 2019 but has same tires on as my. I took it for quick ride but didn’t have a chance to go 73-75 mph yet and didn’t feel vibration/shaking however I do plan to get with his on thruway just to troubleshoot and see. If his doesn’t have it, I will be back with my to ask for different set of tires or go to firestone or some other tire specialist to perform road force after explaining my experience and scapulation that dealership may not be as experienced techs.

Got a text back from the service manager at the dealer, he said they have a good set of 4 new tires on the truck now and all are road forced at an amazing 7 lbs. He said he will wait until the morning rush hour dies down and then take it on the highway. 

 

I get a call an hour later and he says the vibration is still there. He said sure enough right at 70 mph it starts shaking and that he thinks its a bent axle. He asked if it vibrated with the original set of tires and rims and I said yes, and that's why I got the new set of 20's. This is also why I tried to tell you guys that I didn't think it was the tires causing the problem. I imagine they helped some but it sure felt like a drive train issue to me. 

 

Will see what he comes back with, hopefully they find it.

Got another call from the service manager, he said they took my tires and rims and swapped them with a new truck and drove both. Mine still vibrated and the new truck was fine with my wheels and tires. I thought we were over the rims and tires after this morning but I guess its what GM made them do.

 

He said he has the truck with his "rear end guy" (If I were him I'd totally fight against that name) and they are going to pull the rear axle out to check for anything warped. I thanked him again and told him I am still in their loaner and he said its fine and that this is under the clock and they need to work on it asap. Quite the different outlook from when I was first called back to the dealer and told its your tires, the truck is fine - come pick it up. 

 

I remember when I filed the BBB case, it said that once this is in the dealership they have 14 or 17? days to respond to the case. They are really good in helping consumers with issues like this against large corporations. I am glad the dealer is actively trying to repair the truck and its over the 10 days of finger pointing the tires as the issue. IT'S NOT THE TIRES!

 

Will find out more going into the weekend.

I kind of thought Torque converter Bart, but it very well may be the drive shaft. I heard GM makes the driveshafts from a 1/2 roll of Reynolds Wrap Tin Foil. 

 

Maybe GM's troubleshooting list is to go from the cheapest thing to the most expensive.  Tires, rear axle, drive shaft, trannie?

I've recently noticed a very random pretty aggressive vibration in my steering wheel (it vibrates the entire wheel and steering column) for roughly 1 to 2 seconds at a time.  I have noticed it mostly at speeds of around 40 to 65 or so mph.  I am unable to duplicate the issue.  It just started doing it within the last few hundred miles.  Sometimes I feel its a bump in the road that triggers it, but I actually just experienced it while driving on a smooth asphalt road... I thought I was driving over a series of rumble strips, or like the road had some serious washboard.  Again, the vibration is literally only in the steering wheel and column.  I don't feel it anywhere else.

 

Anyone ever heard of this?

So far, I've owned the truck for 63 days and it just completed its 49th day in service. Vibration has gotten better from the countless road force balances and but now it's in the steering wheel where I feel it the most. I am starting to think that the Z71suspension and tire package is contributing to alot of what I am feeling. Regardless, swallow your pride and buy something else. I still haven't washed my truck once because I haven't had it in my possession long enough.

bart has a valid point i gave up on gm who told me they had checked the driveshaft and it wasnt the problem i had the driveshaft checked at an independent shop and they told me it had 32 thou run out i put a new driveshaft in and it has reduced my vibrations to the point that i actually like to drive my truck again

How many built vs. how many shakers? My 14 at 50k miles is a total success. Shook, fixed, end of story. I've talked to many owners (mostly at gas pumps) and NEVER FOUND ONE WHO HAD A SHAKER.

Many of them shake. My buddy has a 17 Denali 3/4 ton diesel and a 2017 1 ton dump. Both shake at around 73/80 mph.

Another friend owns a 2014 high country 1/2 ton. It shakes too...

On the other hand, my 2017 LT+ midnight 1/2 ton has no shake.

It affects a LOT of them .

 

I’m very curious about the 2019’s.

Factory trained techs....cant ck a driveshaft or use a tire balance machine correctly(go figure) where did you get your driveshaft from?

Dealer had my truck all weekend and I get a text at 5:45 today saying "Sent some data to GM they should get back to us by Wednesday on the next step we don't see any bent axle shafts" 

 
Which was interesting because it took them 4 days to tell me the axle was not bent and they just stopped diagnosing the problem. I have the feeling they may have gave up and are either trying to push it into a lemon law case or they are going to try to play the "its within GM specs" like I have read other truck owners write on forums. Which I guarantee its not within specs with the amount it vibrates. Pretty crappy specs if that is the case. 
 
I know everyone says all manufacturers have product issues but I've never seen Toyota or Lexus service just give up like GM has. Will wait and see what the message is on Wednesday. 
 
Lets see if GM will get the poop emoji or fix the damn thing.

So went back in to dealership due to shake/vibration at 70-75mph speeds. They examined everything on truck including taking it for a ride prior and after and couldn’t duplicate what I told them my issue was. Basically they said that they let some air pressure out of rear tires to make ride more comfortable otherwise they feel truck is within “GM’s specs”. After our conversation they did tell me to continue monitoring and certainly let them know if it changes like gets worst. They did also say that I will feel little stiffer and possibly shaky/vibration at instances due to heavy duty truck especially being diesel etc... I do get that aspect and I told them interesting to learn that for high end expensive truck. I did indicate to them that when at 55-65mph speeds, the truck rides smooth no shakes or anything but as soon as I am on thruways/highways at 70+mph it tends to pick up. My next step is continue driving and monitoring to see if any changes occur but did tell them I will be taking my cousin’s 2019 year model same exact truck on same roads to see if his exhibits the same shake/vibration at any speeds.     • Question @diyer2 on this line if you please. Are you saying the shudder is the system turning on and off at the frequency of the shudder? Guess I'm asking if you are saying you have seen it do this with the bi-direction scan tool in graph mode? If so have you been able to discern the 'trigger'. Something is telling to cycle rapidly.    My truck just started doing this recently. 197K on the clock. My response has been M5 anything under 55 mph. I treat it like a lugging stick shift. Gear down and let it spin a bit. Engauge M5, then tow mode and then M6 lets the trans stay in 5th but the AFM is active. Smooth like Skippy.    My thought was that as a machine ages the friction gets lower and as the system is load based, the lower friction would allow it to turn on at ever lower rpm until it reaches the lugging point. And yes I am ignorant of any minimum rpm requirement for the system. If you know that would be useful information.    As you know I run a Scan-Gauge II which allows me to watch the On/Off of the signal to the VLOM. While in the shudder mode I'm not seeing is cycle at that frequency or at all for that matter outside the triggers @newdude posted a few years back. Now is it possible that the refresh rate isn't fast enough to catch it? Maybe. It is why I asked my first question about graphing and trigging parameter.     As we have observed from members here the failure point is all over the map miles wise as you note yourself in your opening post. That by itself begs a few questions like fellows that comment on these lifters failing even after the system has been disabled.     • UPDATE 2: Steering wheel control backlights and control of the cluster can supposedly be achieved by adding a wire to pin 20 of the cluster and tapping it to pin 2 of the main clock spring harness. I'm going to give it a shot - will update  
    • GM Global A pickups 2019-2022 can do OTA programming for the radio.  GM VIP (GM Global B) can do OTAs for almost every module on board.  So a 2022.5 and newer pickup can do OTAs for recalls like the 2.7 fuel flow recall.  EVs get OTAs that improve one pedal driving, radio issues, HVAC issues, updated battery management software, etc.     So age of the vehicle/what GM electrical platform its on will alter what amount of updates can be pushed on OTAs.  
    • Thank You.   So far my new ride is making me look like a genius for going with the 3.0L, as my first fuel refill occurred over three weeks from when I took delivery.  This engine combination is very amazing.  So far no issues and had not done a regen yet.
    • I am curious as to how much fluid you put back in the transmission ( assuming you had replaced the filter to compare to my findings ) and then went through the process of warming up the trans before pulling the check plug to drain out the excess and if you measured how much came back out.    I just found it surprising that some claimed a certain amount less fluid being put in and then draining some back out. The attitude of the truck as per if the surface is level and how the trucks stance is would make quite a difference since the check plug is right at the front of the transmission.
