The only way to work it out is to start a BBB case, take your truck in for the amount of repair attempts you are legally required to do in your state, based on lemon law (4 in Michigan), file BBB complaint online, save ALL repair and service paperwork, tell BBB your truck still shakes after "final repair attempt", setup arbitration date, wait for GM to call 1-2 days before your arbitration date and admit defeat, get your money back or new vehicle. This process is 100% FREE, just takes a little time and leg work.

 

There are more details, but this is the only way to get out of this mess. I have (almost) gone through the entire process twice now. They fooled me into taking another truck the first time, not this time...I know better.

 

I test drove a dozen trucks when searching for my free replacement 2015...THEY ALL SHOOK ON THE HIGHWAY. All of them. I couldn't believe it. I ended up picking the smoothest of the bunch...which ended up getting worse as time went on.

Maybe if you had picked the worst one, it would have stopped vibrating after a while. :crackup:

Hey Everybody, this may have been brought up but there is noway I'm going through 501 pages to look for it LOL. I have a 14 Silverado and have had a shake issue since new. I've always wanted to take it in but being a project manager for a busy construction company I never had the time or patience to deal with their stupid loaner car.

 

I guess my question is, at 77k miles is it to late to deal with this? I feel like it's now getting worse and am really regretting not taking it in earlier.

 

Anyway, thank you for the help in advance.

OK it'd been a while since I last posted. With that did I do read these updated posted several times a day.

 

So many different ideas on what the cause is. I have encountered something I haven't seen before.

 

Over the holidays I drove to Massachusetts from Jersey. Still vibrated and I think has gotten worse very recently.

 

One thing I noticed something odd on my trip back to Jersey. For a moment maybe several miles, maybe more then 5 less then 10. The truck drove like it was on glass. It was so noticeable that I was almost in tears, lol.

 

Just a thought, I'll say what I was thinking. It was like whatever magic lottery ticket that I just cashed was something that phased in sync then phased back out.

 

Almost as if from various turns, maybe from the limited slip which changes phasing of the timing of axles and rings pinion that it momentarily BALANCED!!!!

 

When it happened I was on a rather straight portion of road and as it started to slowly curve the vibration came about slowly then progressed. This wasn't a momentary thing or a temporary road condition thing.

 

So I figured I'd throw this out there maybe someone has a thought that would expand using what occurred. Thanks, H.

Was there something remarkable about that stretch of the road on which the truck ran smoothly?

They are having the same shaking issue with the tahoe suburban Yukon Yukon XL and escalade. It's a design issue and people who got a bad product should be compensated. This is ridiculous. STILL!

There wasn't anything special about the road. I made sure of that so it wouldn't be the root cause. At first I thought it may have been. The road surface didn't change even after the vibration began again.

Found the solution...

 

Dropped it at the dealer and left it for them to fight with. Was so aggravated with the truck I made it down the road to another dealership and ordered a 2016 diesel (in the interest of staying on topic Ill leave the brand out, but its not GM). Picked my 6.2 Sierra up 4 days later and the vibration appears to be totally gone...she knew I stepped out on her and started acting right.

 

In all seriousness, they replaced the rear diff, and re-programmed the power steering computer. My problem seems to be amplified when I am towing or have a load in the bed; one of the techs suggested perhaps the lighter load on the front end was causing the power steering computer to command the pump erratically. Sounds far fetched to me, but kudos to the tech for thinking outside the box; this is after 4 sets of tires and 2 sets of wheels, so I was happy to hear a new theory.

 

So far, it is totally gone. I'm not sure why, and Im certainly not convinced that they actually fixed it, but for the time being its gone.

At the risk of beating the dead horse, 2 weeks ago I could feel the vibrations more... never did anything.

Now today the vibes are significantly less.

 

The difference is 2 weeks ago temps were in the 50's and now temps are 20's.

 

Are the hydraulic mounts stiffer with colder temps? Do we have hydraulic shocks? Are they stiffer also?

I too can say I have noticed the vibrations much more so in warmer weather. I'm up in New England so the past couple months have been especially cool.

Been on the highway all day long with a high of 34 degrees and the vibes are virtually gone, truck is smooth as glass right now. Except for the decelerating shake at 50-35

Mine has been doing the same thing since 7000 miles or so at 75-80mph. Usually its tires that cause that, when you go go around a curve the inside and outside tires move at a slightly different speed. Every once in a while it all works out and its smooth, and if the road is straight it will stay vibration-free for miles. Mine at its worse is only the jump seat/console vibrating. As long as I dont put drinks with ice in there I dont notice it much.

      Based on what I can tell, yes.   As for updating it, its a mixed bag.  Updates do fix a lot of issues, but occasionally can create some oddities.  They do more good than harm though overall.     Here's what the most current one does and a  V171 Improvements Important: Improvements will vary by model, build configuration, system, and sales region. Not all vehicles have all features. OnStar and Wi-Fi may not work after remote start CarPlay may not automatically reconnect Part of the Driver Attention messaging screen may be in English even though the language is set to something else XM may not work After a dead 12V the radio may set to Arabic at each startup Bluetooth contacts might not be able to sync with the vehicle During an OTA the 12V battery may drain Customer might see a screen telling them to return to the dealer After changing the Wi-Fi SSID or password a device may not disconnect If a device is connected on the 2.4Ghz band, nothing will connect to the 5Ghz one, which could show as slow Wi-Fi speeds Customers might have noticed Wi-Fi dropping in certain areas and reconnecting later Customer might see the top of the screen blinking during Android Auto Android Auto may not connect CarPlay audio might momentarily cut out The "Add Phone" button may be grayed out The radio may not start up   V167 Most Notable Improvements:   Outside Air Temperature is incorrect. -You may see a popup message for Engine Shift.       Front End Rattle

      Looking for help troubleshooting a metallic like front end rattle. Figured I’d see if anyone had thoughts before I schedule an appointment with the dealer.   The rattle is fairly loud and occurs primarily when the front driver side wheel hits a bump, even fairly minor road seams. Sometimes does it when the passenger hits a bump but I don’t believe when the rear hits. Rattle still occurs when foot is pressing brake peddle so I think that rules out the caliper rattle I’ve read about. I’ve also checked the running boards and they are tight.   Most noticeable at slow speeds.    Any insight is appreciated.

      We try to make cruise the coast. It’s where our favorite casino is. I only want to spectate. Never took a car. Always had one to take. I belonged to a club once. Even when I used to drag raced. It was during test and tune. Probably because I’m not a night owl, party person.

      Good looking Olds, and TRX!   I haven't been into car shows either. I'm probably not a convert but I did push myself this year to attend a few select events to challenge some assumptions and try to experience car-based social clubs in a different way. I joined up with the local Hagerty group for some cars/coffee events, group drives. A month ago I showed my '94 Camaro I rescued last fall at Radwood. Had a good time, but, there was some sitting around with the car and that's the part of shows I don't enjoy as much. I prefer to be a spectator, walk the show, grab a burger, go home.   Radwood was the only era-limited event, but where it had strict model year limitations, it made it up in variety. Having Jason Camissa there was also a hoot.   Where I see old 50's car shows, doo-wop and winga dinga music stuff fading out, same with "only" vintage muscle clubs, it seems to be the activity-based clubs/events which are gaining strong popularity. Places where all cars and interests come together.
