Shake or Vibration Issues

Saw this in Motor Trend; new package coming soon called High Desert Package. Per pics, I really like the secure bed option. Kinda reminds me of the discontinued Avalanche. Also, comes with Magnetic Ride. Anybody have that in a Denali? Your thoughts about it? Anyway, thought I would share the article.

Lol, Well, you know what they about beauty; "in the eye of the beholder". To me it kinda has the appearance of the discontinued Avalanche which I was sorry to see go. I don't use my truck for serious work, bought it for the 6.2L/8 spd combo so to tow my camper. For me the High Desert bed configuration appears to provide some interesting secure storage possibilities which would be handy when camping. I may check one out when they hit the show rooms just for grins.

It does look like the Avalanche. I almost bought one of those a few years ago but I didn't like the mechanism for folding the back seats. It wouldn't have worked well for the dogs. Other than that I really liked it.

Mind explaining what the torque converter shudder felt like and when it happened?

Occurred light throttle 1100-1500rpm 30-60mph

It does look like the Avalanche. I almost bought one of those a few years ago but I didn't like the mechanism for folding the back seats. It wouldn't have worked well for the dogs. Other than that I really liked it.

Hey Bill, I also almost bought one the first year they (Avalanche) were introduced. The salesman actually talked me out of it, said the rear partition tended to leak, especially if removed frequently. Anyway, I've kicked their tires when truck shopping over the years but couldn't quite pull the trigger, partially as I recall they were priced higher than a equivalent CC pickup. Also, I find the High Desert bed configuration interesting because I enjoy camping and hunting although I've got a lot of rehab ahead before I can go tromping afield again. Speaking of, being I have a 1500 and tow about a 6,000lb TT I have to use a load leveler hitch. And, it requires some pretty serious muscle to hook up the chains that secures the camper frame to the leveler bars. Just wondering if anyone knows of a good air suspension load lever package that I could have installed? I am aware that there are other threads devoted to towing and such, but hey, we are all almost family here, right? Anyway, any tips would be appreciated. Btw, don't want to buy a 2500 as they ride too rough.

I've had this one saved for a while now on my amazon account. I like this one because it has the internal jounce bouncers which means you can run them with no air without damaging the bags. It comes with line to manually fill them, or you can buy an auto air compressor kit for around $400-500 doll hairs

looks pretty similar to the All-Terrain X package.... but without the All-Terrain part

I too was sorry to see the Avalanche go. I know a number of people who absolutely loved them, one of which still has one. He liked it so much, instead of buying a new truck, he went and found a very lightly used one (some of guy who barely drove)

I almost got one before I decided to get the new silverado. Wish I saved my money and did.

The problem with the Avalanche was the 4 corner coil over suspension. They weren't very good for towing

Does anyone have a '14/'15 Silverado that has had NO vibration issues from the very beginning? (Not after a fix)

 

I love the style of the 14/15's and am starting the process of seriously looking. However, after discovering this thread, I'm not sure if it's even worth taking the risk of purchasing one only to have the vibration issue surprise me at a later date. Seems like every where I read information on these trucks this issue always comes up. Is it that prevalent? Should I just get the idea ow owning one out of my head and look at other trucks?

There are many out there with no vibe issues. Only the few dozen that have issues show up here. I've asked dozens at gas pumps and have yet to have anyone say, "Yes." Thousands built, a few dozen

with issues. Not fun if you happen to be the unlucky one, however.

Yet, the shop foreman at my dealership admits its a problem,and has had nearly 2 dozen of them there alone. He also says that all the GM 1500 trucks do it, its just a matter of how severe, and whether the driver notices/ considers it a problem. But please go on about how its only a few dozen with the vibration problem.
