Intellilink MyLink Open Source Software, Apps, etc

Can this one mirror the screen on the phone? I did some research on these a few weeks ago and found one that streams the exact phone image, which would allow the display of Google maps as well as email, youtube etc...

I've got an aftermarket pioneer receiver in my Subaru and it will allow most all apps to be displayed and used on the screen in dash with their app radio stuff. I have used google maps, iTunes, pandora, escort radar live, and waze on it without a hitch. It utilizes a cord of some type, so the phone must be plugged in for it to work. Really hoping something like this can be done in our trucks as well!

I'm sorry, I live in LA and drive a lot of places, but I just don't see $600 in utility to have my phone mirrored on the truck screen. I don't use NAV more than maybe once a month. I don't text in my truck. I don't need to read text messages in my truck. I don't need to use my phone to start my truck, since my remote works fine. I'd rather have a new high grade stock for one of my shotguns than any of this stuff.

I've had a deck that allowed me to mirror and used arunchained on my android phone. The novelty was cool, but it was really not needed and grew old. Not worth all the time and money I invested into it. So long as I can play anything on the deck off of my media devices I'm fine with that.

The CUE/Intellilink systems are based off the same core programming that Apple uses. Don't hold me to this but i think it's Linux based. Working for a dealer I can tell you there are far more issues with Android phones and functionality than there are Apple products. However, I do know that in order to get "full" functionality with an Apple product they tell you it should be connected to the vehicle via usb. I've played around with my system quite a bit and found that to be true. I still run into issues at times and just like a computer a simple reboot or restart of the system and try again usually gets things working again. It's not perfect but it's way better than some other car manufacturers systems.

I was just at my dealership the other day and asked for a MyLink update. They told me none is available, and they don't get a lot of people asking.

I've found that there is a delay switching tracks and XM channels with the steering wheel. Using the touchscreen/radio buttons seem to be faster.

I've long wondered why I can't add a source (My iPod, an SD card, etc.) as a favorite on the bottom. You can only favorite songs (who really does that?) and albums. If I want to pan quickly between an XM channel and what I was listening to on my iPod, I have to keep hitting the media button over and over again. Seems a stupid oversight.

The XM weather map is pretty useless if I can't zoom in any closer than the entirety of New England.

Lucky for me I'm a software engineer with embedded skills and I could probably crack the module open and tinker with all this stuff myself. I just haven't desired to rip apart my new truck just yet.

Oh, and they did have a page for doing MyLink updates via USB. I think it was for the Malibu or Cruze, and they pulled that page down. Also stories are indicating that the GM App Store is having "issues" and this makes me seriously doubt we'll ever see it hit the light of day. If it does, it'll be years from now and conveniently won't support our vehicles. Roped in on a promise and then realizing it's a lie. Thanks GM!

Hmm doesn't sound very exciting. Anybody else have anything to contribute? Are there any apps yet? I want Android Auto on my 2014 8" ;(

Gm abandoned the gm app store idea and went with Apple and Android car play. There will not be apps to add to a 2014/15 intelilink radio

That would be something if apps could be made available not through GM... Just look at how Android has changed computing... When the iPhone was new, androids were more or less a joke as competition. Open source turned them into what it is today!

Well, there a bunch of viruses for Android but it is open source....
