Radio Reception Issues

GLC I would talk with the service manager and point him towards this thread. My dealer said my truck was fine as well before my module change out, after my module change out even though the GM engineers said I was right and there was a issues with the programming.

Just got back from dealer, received software update. Truck is early build, they did not change the module. I have a route that I drove yesterday and observed radio performance, I will drive it tomorrow and post results, Service manager also interested in results, wants me to evaluate results before calling others in for update. I have to give credit to both GM and the dealer, I believe at this time they are both interested in resolving this issue.

Truck is early build, they did not change the module.

 

When I was talking to the service manager on the phone, he was looking over the bulletin, and told me there wasn't any mention of replacing the module.

Module replacement was what the engineers told me as where ever the cutoff was on the before 12/2013 modules that they were not able to be updated hence why I got a new module in my truck.

What exactly is the radio module? Is it the main 8" screen, the HMI module under the glove box, or something else?

 

The reason I ask is that I replaced the HMI module to add factory NAV (from Kodiakz) and wouldn't want to get that swapped out for a non-NAV module.

The radio is behind the display. Completely separate piece.

Had PI 1288 applied to the truck today.

Number of folders went from 5 to 3.

Skipping during poor HD reception eliminated.

Overall reception still bad. (uchanged)

I had been running with HD turned off and the reception was not good even then.

No change in overall quality.

What's your build date? Are you reporting this back to the dealer?

TJay74, Any chance you can confirm with the infotainment engineers that you have been working with, that if your truck has a build date prior to 12/13, that the truck will need a new module to for the update to work properly? My truck has a build date of 8/13. I appreciate everything you've been doing to get this problem corrected!

Build date of 10\13 (Mexico). Long trip coming up. Will talk to dealer after (maybe). They started off telling me that the radio was performing as designed and there was nothing they could do about it. I had to point out to them the PI number (which was attached to the job ticket). Was not impressed.

I have early build date and had update on Wednesday. Unfortunately no improvement in FM reception. Will contact GM and dealer to see if they install new module.

That Sucks. Was hoping the update worked.
