I get the crackle, distortion on am stations as well, but worse on fm. Definitely in hd. Played a cd the other day and on 50% volume I noticed some slight distortion in dash speakers. All the issues are in dash speakers.

I got a new radio installed and there is no change. The reception still blows. Waste of my time.

I am planning on emailing the engineer next week to see if the final update is ready and to see if any headway has been made on getting the reception issue resolved.

When are GMC Truck buyers going to a Class Action Law Suit. I have a 2014 Double Cab. COMPLAINED about my radio. The dealership rep stated I was the first ever to complain. Then told by the Chief Mechanic there is a lack of repeaters in the remote area of Memphis as to why my radio fades in and out on HD. This radio is horrible. This radio will play almost any cd but only reads a few with a certain format. Just Horrible.

Thank You TJay. I'm glad your in contact with the engineer. I am so annoyed by this. No pressure but 1000's of truck owners are counting on you ?

Got the update performed on mine a couple weeks back. HD no longer drops out where it used to, and stays off when I turn it off. I'm happy with it for now. But I do live in the city, so it probably wasn't as bad as it is for some of you.

Does anyone know if software version 23203138 is the recent update?

I dont think so, i see people with it dating back in July 2014. I have 23443768 from factory if they never updated it. It is manufactured sometime in May 2014

From what I can tell the software version you have is dependent on features. Sometimes the newest version for your truck might be a lower number than someone else here.

I have a 2014 Silverado that has very bad FM reception. I live in Toronto and have never had a problem in any other vehicle. Here are my results with changing the FM antenna I bought a OEM antenna at Canadian Tire, but the adapters on it only fit a 6mm stub and the Silverado 2014 is 7mm. Looked all over trying to find an adapter but no luck. So I just purchased a silverado 2014 antenna from antennax. Installed the 7mm to 6mm adapter the AntennaX antenna came with along with the Canadian tire OEM antenna. FM Reception has improved vastly. Now I can listen to FM Radio. No more static. I am going to try the AntennaX antenna tomorrow with the stub to see if any difference. I used the Canadian Tire antenna first because it is black and looks much like the gm original, but the antennax one is silver.

I get the "crackling" using bluetooth and high pitch noises in music I am playing also. I thought about changing the dash speakers out.

I have been complaining about that crackling in the speakers. It seems to only be in the dash. Also, only occurs in the SLT models. I had a loaner SLE and it sounded great. My service guys cannot figure it out. I listen to A.M radio and its horrible. My $20.00 alarm clock radio sounds better. 1 yr later still not happy. They have replaced the speaker and it didnt do anything. Changed treble and bass settings, no fix still.

Jeremy can you provide some links for what you found please ? did you try the antenna x or just the Canadian ? thanks

Hi Terry,

The link for the antenna x antenna is http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00IKQZTPM?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00. It is the Canadian amazon site but i imagine they have on the amazon.com site as well. The antennaX antenna was shipped to me from Lake Mary Florida.

I tried with the AntennaX antenna today and it is comparable to the Canadian tire one. The Canadian tire model seems to look better with the truck as it is black, instead of the silver that the antenna x one is.

I would try asking antennax to see if they have one in black if you like. My truck is the metallic silver, so i think the black looks nicer.

The Canadian Tire one i bought off the shelf. Was around $20 or so. Be aware that the Cdn tire one does not have the 7mm adapter though. That's why i bought the one from Antenna X. It looks like the link is http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/e2-steel-replacement-mast-antenna-0350097p.html#.VRb4bLpOk5Q. I imagine you could get from NAPA or something like that down there.

Both the Canadian Tire and the Antenna X are a great improvement over the factory GM one. You would assume all three are made out of steel so there should be no difference, but obviously not. They all appear to be roughly the same length as well.

I live in Toronto which is right by the lake. I am picking up both Toronto (local) and Buffalo (across the lake) stations no problem now. As I mentioned before, this is the first vehicle i have had trouble with FM. Lucky for me that changing the antenna was all I had to do. Let me know if it works for you.

Cheers,

Jeremy
