I went ahead and emailed them. I didn't really ask for anything specific, just more power & better driveability and then just got a tune done.

I wouldn't know honestly, I'd be lying if I said that I noticed a different in how much the RPM's idled before but they looked to be around the same. I may be wrong though.

What software did they use to tune? HP Tuners, EFI Live? Are they a pretty reputable shop? Def not normal, like Mjj said above, could be a slightly lower rpm. Does it go away once you hit the throttle? Can you be more descriptive?

We used EFI Live to install the tune. The shop is well known, they've tuned hundreds of diesels. What happens is when I come to a complete stop after about 3-4 seconds the truck begins to shake. It's a slight shake but I can feel it. If I have my arm out of the window you can see my arm moving. Once I hit the throttle it does seem to go away, it only happens when I'm completely stopped. Or so I've only noticed it then.

Yea, mine does not do that at all. It behaves just like stock, just with a ton more torque everywhere. Definitely not normal and sounds like there is an issue with torque management and/or low rpm issue. Hope you get it taken care of.

Well, took the truck to my tuner yesterday and got the stock tune put back on. Truck was still shaking, feels like it's getting progressively worse. I guess I may have to look into the spark plugs? I'm not sure why or how they'd go out on such a new truck.

Check your intake tube, may have come loose.

This. Happened on my 08. Intake tube came loose and truck was shaking like crazy.

Actually GM had a bad batch of some plug wires that caused some issues on some early build trucks. I would check and make sure all of the wires are pushed onto the plug and coil pack fully.

After reading thru these pages I have to ask (a bit confused maybe) with the BB tune they actually adjust the tune after you data log and send them info from the truck... Am I correct?

What is you want to change octane ratings for 93 to 87? Do you have to get another tune? Additional cost?

With InTune there are a couple of canned tunes in the tuner or you also data log with Lew and have him tweak the tune a bit... for additional cost.

What if again you want to go on a trip and run a different octane gas? Another tune?

My biggest complaint is the trans not shifting the way I would like...

Yes, with the AutoCal and scan cable tunes, all tunes are built based on the datalogs you send over.

We send different octane tunes over. However, with the compression ratio of your 5.3L, you should be running a minimum of 89 for optimal results, even on the stock tune.

Our tune updates are free.

So one needs to purchase the AutoCal & scan cable... Anything else need be purchased? The web page states "tuning services included".

I don't see a great need to change from one tune to another, but my thinking was after exploring different octane tunes I would then most likely run one tune a majority or the time. Again the trans operation is what I am looking for the most change in!

The EFI Live AutoCal states "Programming of a wide range of 1998-2010+ GM vehicles" so I need to confirm, mine is a 2014.

I also see that it states "Full 2007+ GM 6L80E/6L90E 6 speed transmission tuning support" which is my main concern. Is there any additional adjustment offer by AutoCal than what InTune offers???

I have not seen much on the use of different tunes for different needs, only something with the tow/haul mode with gives the trans different commands and I assume it is for other than my needs... I don't race my truck. With my Borla muffler I want to hear them snappy shifts!

For someone on the fence on this are you offering and special deals that my push me over the edge right now to purchase??? Do you offer forum members any discounts?

I did have the Diablew in a basket but still hesitating...

Jenna can elucidate, but the AutoCal does come with the cable to connect to the OBDII port as well as a USB cable to connect to your Windows based computer.

You will get tunes for both your ECM & TCM. And you can get both an 89 octane tune and a 91+ octane tune.

2014 is GTG.

Thanks for that info bigsapper... Can you elaborate on your tunes effect on you trans??? Did you see an improvement??? That is my main reason for looking at a tune.

For your vehicle, the AutoCal will be needed and that is it. $599 includes both the AutoCal and tuning for the first vehicle. The AutoCal can tune up to 8 vehicles, when you purchase the licenses for the other vehicles.

Yes, the AutoCal can tune you 2014, and includes both the ECM (engine) and TCM (transmission). The AutoCal is an EFILive product, which uses the full tuning software suite offered by EFILive. That being said, EFILive has access to many more tables than other tuning software suites out there, with HPTuners being it's closest competitor. There is a reason that many tuners won't tune for intakes/headers/FI and other mods- their software/experience does not allow for optimized access/changes to those tables. All our tunes are dyno developed and tested. With over 10,000 vehicles under our belts (over 4,000 hands on, inperson alone), both cars and trucks from mild to wild, safe to say, they are pretty dialed in.

We do offer a discount to active duty military and LEOs.

Dramatic improvement in shift firmness and response. Throttle tip in is much improved too. My understanding with these trucks, transmission tuning is done in both the TCM & ECM.

    • Just did an injector/HPFP replacement on Pepper at 192,400 miles; close enough to 200K, RIGHT? (If 200K is considered life end and to me it isn't). But hey, to each his own.    Have never run a catch can on this vehicle. Back side of every valve looked like a new valve spray painted semigloss black. Port walls looked 'neat' (all a normal result of passive EGR via VVT) Zero build up even in AFM cylinders. Just color. It uses no measurable oil and never has.    At 155,000 I put her on E-85 and a borescope of the cylinders at plug change showed very clean pistons and valve faces. The replaced injector tips looked new. (It was the pump piston seal that was leaking). Oh well, have six good backups.    Still gets 28 mpg on gas (highway average) and over 20 (highway) on alky. UOA's look good and runs as good now as it did when I bought it. Better in fact.    What improvement would a Catch Can provide this motor?     And given all this I expect that IF I installed one I'd see some water/gas/oil vapor accumulation. Byproducts of normal combustion.   Having said that, IF my motor used an appreciable amount of oil I'd consider it a useful 'crutch' until I had the situation corrected OR if bore polished, until I junked it or rebuilt it to stave off repeated plug fouling.    I'm not telling you what I THINK. But what its DONE.
    • Love the look. I'm a SCSB lover myself.    Two items. 1.) A spacer changes scrub radius but this also changes when we use wheels of different offsets. A little isn't a big deal. 2.) Steel wheels, alloy wheels all have different thickness. Same effect on the stud and lug nut as a spacer. When hub centric the wheel isn't supported by the stud. It's supported by the hub. The stud just keeps it all together.
    • I had a evap sol go bad a couple weeks ago. . I replaced it.  While watching live data at the time I saw I had some cylinder 1 misfires. No MIL but on live data I could see ~50 at startup and about 70 more after an hour a drive all on cyl 1.  I also noticed that the LTFT were -5% to -15% always.  And that bank 2 is always -3% richer than bank 1. Even across all driving modes, city, highway, etc it’s always 3% richer than bank 1. So I start with the misfire. Swapped coil, plug, and plug wires from 1 to 3. No follow. I got an Injector reseal kit, pulled the D/s injector rail, swapped #1 and #3 injectors, resealed them, reinstalled and retested.  The misfire followed to 3. So I ordered and replaced all 8 injectors, spark plugs, and plug wires. Also replaced the 1 time use fuel pipes under the intake manifold.  Injectors that were in the truck since new were  Part # 12668390.  I replaced them with # 12742701 Got from RockAuto. Pretty certain they’re genuine and the correct ones. I called a friend at a parts store who told me “the 12742701 were the correct superseded part # for the originals I was replacing”. So started truck after replacing all that and it’s running -15 - -30 LTFTs. I reset the fuel trims with GDS2 and drove it for a 60 miles trip each way. There have been no changes in the LTFTs.  I checked if the HPFP was leaking into the crankcase. I removed the pvc and watched the trims. No difference.  I checked the alcohol content and it was at 10%  I’m out of ideas here. Truck seems to run great. Just always rich on the fuel trims.  Anyone with any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.  I ran an injector balance test just for the heck of it and it came back this. I’m confused.  I have gds2 and some other diag tools if anyone knows of anything I should test next.
