Seriously, am I the only one that thinks the new location of the mirrors on the doors is absolutely terrible? I like the wheels though.

Head Line is FAKE NEWS

GM / GMC trys hard to offer something different and at the same time ONLY offers a few minor changes that add up to nonsense - not impressed at all - just a loaded SLT lifted Z71 with some blacked out snap ons, and bigger tires.  Now if you lift your 1500 yourself will it still void your warranty ? Backwards Old School thinking company like when Ford offered any color you want as long as it's Black ...

Awesome......Not.   Barely worth the look.  GM....meet the Ford Raptor, a real off-road cred truck.   GM, you keep offering this "bold new graphics" sort of vehicle and a lot of us will continue to not buy Government Motors new truck offering.  I haven't bought new GM since 2001 and will continue to boycott your Ho-Hum offerings.    Such a disappointment GM....you really lurk in mediocrity when it comes to trucks.   But keep on with your electric little box cars.

Is this replacing the All Terrain package, or is it another package altogether? If this is supposed to be the new All Terrain, they really dropped the ball on appearance. We need a mid travel 4x4 unit or a LT4 powered street truck. Remember Syclone, Typhoon, 454SS? The time is now GM.

Yes but this is what 90% of buyer's do. They buy a fancy optioned up truck, add a lift and big tires.  Make it look like an off roader for their trips to the office or Lowes to get the potting soil and plants, etc. Nobody ever really intends to get them off the highway! What are you crazy! I just paid $55K for this beaut I'm not taking a chance getting it scratched!! or I just clay barred it I'm not getting it dirty! GM knows most buyers are posers who just want to look the part so why put a lot of expensive off road options on it if it never gets off the pavement?

Still looks like a pig on a skateboard.  I find it very hard to believe that the truck pictured has 33" tires on it.  If those are 33s, 35s should fit no problem.

This thing is HORRID.   I have an 02 2500 and 15 Denali HD and would NEVER buy this abortion.  Who ok'd the geometry experiment on the fenders.  "Uh, don't make them round or square, just make something up". And what the he'll is up with the vertical fog lights.  The Sierra designer needs to be dragged through the streets  by this thing.  I actually like the Chevy version which looks like a bigger ZR2, but GMC crapped the bed.   Different doesn't mean better for God's sake.

Is it just me or is everyone super negative about this release. After seeing the trail boss did anyone really think GM was going to put out a heavily modified off road truck? People keep saying they should make something to compare to the raptor or the trd pro or zr2... if they did you’d be bitching about how “new Sierra is just a raptor knock off”. Can’t win. If you want a raptor GO BUY ONE and join a ford forum. In my opinion, I like it. It seems to be a little more like the Denali as far as options and tech but without all the godawful chrome everywhere. I like the idea that I can get the features I like without buying a Denali. All this being said without ever seeing one in person, as I’m sure nobody complaing about it on here has.

The more I see the GMC, the more I like the Silverado. The wheel arches on the GMC just look retarded...

Pretty disappointing compared to the ZR2, in my opinion. 

 

I think you'd be better served buying a plain 4x4 and going mid-travel. Probably cheaper too.

      I know; crap pictures.   Anyway, as a finale of sorts to this thread, I had replaced both differential covers and since they had the capability of adding temperature probes, I did that. These are MaxTow analog/digital gauges with stepper motors. They'll flutter around like crazy for a moment and start at a nominal 100 degrees Fahrenheit.   I drove a 30-mile loop to the grocery store, averaging 70 MPH (as much as 80 to see if there was a quick spike in temperature. The air temperature is 102 (ambient ?). but the first pic is 7 miles into the trip. The second is getting back into the truck after leaving the store; differential temperatures dropped about three to four degrees in 15 minutes. The third pic in on the road to my house, about a mile away.   In that run, I saw a high of 150F on the rear differential, and 121F on the front. I'm sure a longer drive or towing will see higher than that, and when that happens, I can update the observations.

      Fully warm, coolant temp >194, closed loop.   Run time can be anywhere from just reached operating temperature to having driven 30+ miles.   The O2 chart (which is a feature I just discovered after reading) for the bad idle seems to be "most" of the time. For the little time I've been watching it (scanning and driving! watchout!) I can't seem to isolate any cause or condition yet.   It definitely idles rougher sometimes than others and so far what I've seen is the rougher idles are always rich. But not enough to set a CEL.   In other news I replaced the starter solenoid. Everything on this truck is such a PITA. Starter "snout" is mangled up with the torque converter inspection cover which is tangled up with hard cooling lines and the driveshaft. But I got 'er done without too much swearing...I just go into everything now knowing it's going to be a frustrating mess.   The starter solenoid replacement kicks off the next round of work: AC, injector rebuild, cat, exhaust. I'm just going to do it all. But first:   I don't know what my fuel pressures are. I can't definitively say the issue is the injector without first verifying fuel pressures and any leakdown. I "rented" a test kit ($199.99 at O'Really's ...intentional misspelling). They don't "rent" tools anymore, they charge you for the tool and then you return it when you're done. No joke. It is listed as a rental on the receipt but the guy told me there's no difference between renting and buying  now, you just return it when you're done and they refund the credit card. Mmmkay, whatever.   I will rule out fuel pressure issues (too much), and any leaking (that's how I'll know the problem is inside the intake). I think someone said the return line could be plugged or not flowing and that could cause high fuel pressure (and too much fuel being pushed through injectors). I'll cross that bridge if I get high readings.   As of now I'm ready to tear off the intake cover, extract the injector, and have it sent off to be rebuilt just so I can rule that out.

      What are the conditions of this rich idle? Warm or cold engine? Run time? Does every idle look like this or only sometimes?
