Is that black plate a seperate piece? I’ll have to look at my truck in the sun light but I’m thinking it’s molded into the grill insert.

Side note, I might be WAY off with what I think I’m picturing in my head haha.

I just looked at mine it’s molded into the grill surround. You can prob buy a aftermarket badge and fabricate a plastic bracket.

Thank you

Remember this forum is like your yard/garden in the spring, you have to weed out the bad answers to find the good ones..... Post pictures if you find what you are looking for, you will have a one of one truck because it is yours and you did it up like you wanted too!!!

IGNORANT ???????

Yes ignorant

Tell us how much all the parts are going to cost you to convert it to a Z71.  You should have just bought a Z71 in the first place . But it's your money and your truck  . I could care less

BTW all your parts are available at your local Chevy dealer.

Or you could just trade it in

Disagree all you want .To buy all that stuff would be way more than just getting a Z71 in the first place. Don't be ignorant.
Did you try a dealer?
I second the idea that buying a Z71 would have been way easier than a conversion. Dealers here had LT Z71s, Z60s, and Z85s with same options otherwise for damn near the same price.

Do some reading about what a Z71 actually is. It's not all you probably think it is. Most people do not like the shocks. The most COMMON change on these 1500s is to go Bilstein 5100 or 4600 shocks. The essential differences between the suspension packages is the shock they use. Front spring is dependent upon engine.

Z60 is firm. Be prepared to feel every pebble on the road, and your spouse/S.O. will be angry at you on speed bumps. Tends to make kids spill cheerios under the seats.

Z71.... I don't know. I drove one, was just eh.

Z85 has that Caddy float to it. EEEES NIIIIICE (Borat) for highway cruising.

You have to do what makes you happy. Just don't be surprised when your Ranchos are toast and leaking fluid sooner than you think they should.

Thank you for your common sense.

If the op just just thinks a Z71 is decals and a badge in the grille then he can do that for cheap. If that's all he wants well I'm sorry I berated him. I just think it is stupid when someone spend big bucks for a new truck then wants to change it to something he could have just bought in the first place.

A lot of that on this forum.

In the grand scheme of things it's a set of shocks and special 18" wheels. Let's be real. The Z71 skid plate has always been next to useless as a skid plate.

Z71s used to be 4x4 1500s ONLY with skid plate, 4 wheel drive, and yellow Bilsteins. And only mildly off-road tires from the factory that wore down really fast. Now the Z71 moniker is a little hooker and gets applied to 2500 and 3500s too.

And colored bumpers and grille too. Those aren't cheap.

Don't the gauge cluster have a Z71 logo too?

It's a lot more than shocks and a skidplate.

Z71 has the logo on the gauges and door sills actually really like my Z71 esp with the redline package. I think they did a nice job.

They are nice looking trucks ?.

Lot of pieces go into a Z71 compared to a Z85.

But cost-wise it's dumb to convert a new truck when you could have just bought the one you wanted to start. Z85 or Z71, at the same trim level, they cost the same.
