They're both junk, but my T1 is better junk than my K2 was. Had the K2 for 3 years and the T1 for 3 months, only took 2 weeks to realize how much of an improvement in the T1.

Overall she doesn't look better or worse in comparison, but K2 no longer commanded a second look while T1 is attractive enough to turn heads.....essentially I traded a brunette for a redhead, same basic equipment and functions but younger and tighter with a nice fresh smell! And if K2 were to ask: "What has she got that I haven't got"? My answer is this:

No more 2 small crapo HID projectors with shutter lenses.....now I have 6 Hi intensity CREE LEDs 4 on low beam 6 on high beam and no mo' stinkin' K2 shutters to create a dark horizon. Full LED front directionals, parking lamps, rear directionals and brake lighting.

Roomier back seating and HVAC outlets

Infotainment 3 with HD radio, HD 8" screen and HD cameras

Same quality materials in leather and dash finish but the controls on the T1 are all lighted and clustered logically by function where they are easily visible and reachable from the drivers position.

More drivers foot room by getting rid of the parking brake pedal assembly and going electronic with automatic release to prevent accidental brake drag.

Dumped complex hydro mechanical AFM/6 spd. in favor of advanced less complicated better mileage electronic DFM w/8 speed

And attractive rear bumpers with large grab points for easier mounting.

Consider this .....come 2021 the T1 will have the same shape of a fresh young model while the K2 will have that tired been-around-the-block a quite few times looking shape that was discarded in favor of a younger model.

I still like the look of the K2 is better, the only thing I don't like about the T1 is the front end and the cheap inside. If the 2021 has a great inside, which I think it will I will buy one .

Actually, Many of us opted to wait for the T1 because we didn't like the look of the front end on the K2.

I would have waited till 2020 if the Yukon XL was going to adopt the T1 but looks like that won't happen until 2021 or later.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and taste.

I hated the 2016-20 Yukons because to me, they looked like a hearse.

what about the hideouse rear tailgate on the new T1? what a porker... lol the front is also goofy looking . but rear visability on a base model without back up cam has got to be tough.. silverados are being sabatoged by GM

Totally agree with you.I just don't like someone calling me a liar, which I have nothing to gain from lying.

And you have nothing to gain by owning a K2, coming to the T1 page, and call them cheap crap.  Btw, I bought my G6, mansion and yacht with cash too.

As I said, it's really up to the individual. I actually prefer the look of the T1 to the K2 hands down.

Same thing with the  Suburban/Yukon 2007 up to 2020 .............. to me these all looked like hearse wanna be vehicles.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the 2021 Suburban/Yukon do with their sheet metal.

Not to be disparaging at all, but we all need to at least try spell check.

I've found that my own comments are given less credence when I make spelling or grammatical errors.

As my hero, Peter Pan, might have said .... Not Me .... or is it Not I ......

With out spell check I'm a disaster.  Between that and being a little dyslexic ... well you get the picture  ?

This thread still going? :) Preferences and opinions still being battled?

Some time ago I found Pepper's T1 clone on a lot in Rockford Illinois. Some everything save the T1 had a backup camera and they called the color something other than Victory Red. I gave it about 30 minutes of my time. Besides the fact I opine the four door versions of the T1 are about the ugliest thing I've ever seen the RCSB was tolerable enough I gave it as much time as I did. I spend allot of time in the cab and like to tinker so three things jumped out at me like lightning flashes:

1.) That has got to be the most miserable and tiniest seat I've ever sat in. I'm 6'2" and tip 205# and it felt like sitting in those plastic chairs they give kindergarteners.

2.) Deal breaker and spoiler alert. The Computer is encrypted silly without current solutions.

3.) They took a truck that was already too large for a half ton and made it about the same size as the K2 2500's. That makes the same 255/70-17's look more hideous than ever. It also killed what little hope there was for better mileage.

I don't have to eat arsenic to know I don't like it and I don't like it.

I totally agree with you but sometimes you have to take the high road and politely reinforce the truth, or ignore those who think not before speaking.

I had something very similar happen when I started the Lipstick On A Pig thread and I was called a TROLL and other things.

Some people think that just because of their anonymity on a website that they have a license to attack others and defame them.

Like you, I'm a retired worker on a guaranteed pension and was able to buy my T1 with cash.

Good for you on having a pension.I bet many people on this sight are in debt up to their eyeballs.

If more spent only on needs, not wants, retirement would be a non-issue.

Some of these posts are just as superfluous as the topic. Front of the K2 vs. front of the T1; Interior of the K2 vs. interior of the T1! Well which front and which model and which trim level, different models have different fronts and interiors? The big difference that everyone seems to be bitching about is the T1 added models and now makes a stripped bottomfeeder model to set an affordable price point for basic transportation and threw a ton of features on the top line to offer an overpriced model for those who want all the gizmos for a creature comfort transport.

Interiors? Then compare apples to apples my '16  K2 Z71 vs. my equivalent price point T1 - The K2 has the same level interior as the T1 basically the same controls rearranged in different groups, but the exactly the same level and quality leather,  plastic trim and carpet on both....image quality on the HD 8" display and HD cameras is definitely and improvement. Maybe a difference in the non-leather versions?, but in the leather versions anyone that thinks one has better quality or appearance over the other is kidding themselves.

Fronts?. Like the K2 front?, which I did, then get the T1 RST front where there's not a dimes worth of difference between the two. Minor difference is it is all LED including the directionals, DRLs, fogs and headlamps.... the latter of which switching from 2 HID projectors to 6 hi intensity CREEs required modification around their smaller size......and LEDs were worth every damn nickel in cost over projectors and with active grill shutters and DFM plus the 2 overdrive gears in the 8 speed saves an extra 2-3 mpg over my K2.

And yes, reduced rear vision in a basic model with a taller tailgate...well if you buy a basic model T1 for the purpose designed, it allows a greater volume of cargo, hay or manure than the K2. Want better vision; upgrade from the bottomfeeder model and get one with better bed lighting and a camera where with a touch of a button you can get an 8 second wide angle view of rear traffic while going forward at any speed no matter how many heads you have in the rear or how high crap is piled in the bed. You get what you pay for.....K2s and T1s are both made of the same crap metal, rubber, plastic and electronics are and identical in  that with both the bucks you pay the better crap you get.

I'm following this thread because I like it's name.

Well and entertaining.

:lurk:

I like to watch people argue OPINIONS like they were facts.

    • Late reply, but yes—it works on the SLT trim. Compatibility comes down to the plastic shroud shape behind your mirror, not the trim badge itself. On the SLT with auto-dimming, it uses a plug-and-play Y-harness off the mirror/rain sensor power, so no need to run wires down to the OBD port. If anyone's ever unsure about fitment, just drop a photo of your mirror housing and we can double-check it.   Appreciate the detailed feedback on the install! On the windshield glare—we actually took feedback like yours and developed a dedicated CPL (polarizer) filter to cut down dash reflections on sunny days. If you're still running the cam, shoot me a DM. I'd be happy to send a CPL filter over for you to test out—no charge.
    • There are no stickers in your glovebox?
    • Look at the numbers on the stickers in the door jam...
    • Yes, every time the developer updates his code, you must recompile. I will private message you with the latest because it changes pretty much with every version.
    • After I wrote that reply I went for a ride. 85 F out. So trans started at 85 F and it shifted the same as it did an hour latter at 168 F. I've never actually recorded the to cold to shift point but it is under 32 F before they start hanging on to a lower gear or leaving the converter unlocked. Both intended to heat fluid.    Yes, brake or bake. Absolutely.      Your welcome. True research ended decades ago. Field trials are still in play.    There is a thing called oxidation onset temperature. This is the heat related oxidation not the O2 exposure kind. For mineral oil that starts at 140 F. So what happens after 140 F? Each 20 F cuts fluid life in half! Does using a Full Synthetic improve that? Yes! By how much? Depends on the base oil type and a few other factors. But enough to notice. Some esters are even higher. There are even synergies between types the will raise it higher than any one component is alone.    Then there is "Hindered" oils. Antioxidant additives. Hindered Polyol Esters can sit at 500 F for years in a turbine.   When a blender brags his oil will 'take 500 F" in service he doesn't specify for how long. Water will dance on a 500 F hot plate for several seconds. @newdude put up a chart showing the relationship between fluid temperature and it's life in an automatic transmission. Here's a version of that chart for Group III based oils. These temperatures are those in the pan as observed as 'normal'. that is you drive as you do for as long as you do under what load you ask of it and whatever that temperature is this graph applies to. Flash temperatures of a few minutes isn't what his means.    Note that fluids held at a constant 240 F have a service life of only 20K miles. 220 F explains the factory exchange limit, eh? My equipment I keep under 180 F and I'm good if the cooler will hold it as low as 140 F. But that's me.
