GM gave me a dealer credit for 1000.00   My came with general grabbers and went to Michelins. That was at 19,000 miles, I have 66,000 now ...tires look good but still has shake. I do believe that a lot of the problems come from the "Factory Trained Technicians" That have no clue how to use the road force machine properly....   Even though they will tell you " I HAVE BEEN BALANCING TIRES FOR 20 SOME YEARS!!!! "

This. If a Hunter tech can get my tires right in one try and GM couldn’t over 6 months and 8 visits to the shop, there’s a big problem there. That’s not to say the truck is still just way too sensitive (because it is), but it’s appalling that none of the techs that serviced my truck were able to use the machinery properly. The dealership mechanic industry seems to have developed into code diagnosis and that’s it. If it doesn’t throw a code, then there mustn’t be a problem and the customer is crazy.

I changed my Driveshaft to a 2 piece high performance shaft and I changed my Axles shafts. I am now Vibration Free

Guys, here's a clue....it's not the shocks, and it definitely not the tires, and it's not the driveshaft, and it's not the ring and pinion, and it's not the exhaust, and it's not the AFM, and it's not the skid plates....from living with this vibrating piece of sh!t for 6000 miles, and changing all of the above except the ring and pinion gears (which others have to no avail) this problem is still unresolved. ZERO GM attempt to reach out to any of us who have been our dealers in an attempt to fix the problem, none of which have resulted in a fix. I will bet this is a transmission/ torque converter problem as nothing else we've all wasted time and monety addressing has fixed it. Have one or two of all the above helped? Sure each one might be a channel thru which the vibration is made worse, but none of them is the cause. We need to keep pressuring our dealers and ramp up the media and online postings of a brand new redesigned truck that has a major flaw. Folks this is GM, the same company who covered up an ignition defect that resulted in multiple deaths. Yes GM you have that blood on your hands. As well as a sea of recent recalls. Fuk U I am so tired of driving around a $50,000 vibration machine, which based on the fact at 6000 miles, has only gotten worse, will clearly lead to other mechanical failures down the road. Step the Fuk up and stop ignoring your customers. I guarantee this is going to escalate in the media and internet. We all need to make sure GM is held accountable. Call me, write me, email me...do something GM before you have yet another legal issue on your hands and in the public. Yours truly, a totally dissatisfied, and disappointed customer. You have my VIN

Yanking our that mile long, fat ass aluminum drive shaft and replacing it with a heavy duty steel two piece shaft with center support and carrier bearing cured my truck of ALL vibrations. It now has gone 20,000 vibration free miles and I expect many many more. With the original shaft it destroyed its transmission at 356 miles on the odometer and had to be towed to the dealership. I understand your frustration but with the right diagnosis the trucks can be made to function. Still we should not have to do any of this to a brand new $41,000 truck!! I did because I could not afford to trade that brand new truck back in and the whole situation pissed me off enough that I wanted to show those high paid GM engineers that it could be fixed if you said screw the corporate limitations placed on them. I’m sure they already knew that, but wanted to stay employed!!

Although I’m not fairly new, it’s cold and windy outside and I’m bored so I read your recommended page 802.  This statement caught my eye.  “There are a number of issues with this design of truck that GM has just sat on and offered no permanent solution.”  I differ with the poster who made it.  Actually, GM does have a solution.  It’s called the 2019 T1.  New platform, frame, drive shaft, suspension, front end geometry, basically a new truck.  All for the nominal price of $50K plus or minus some change ?....

And GM is counting on their loyal customers till death do them part to throw in the towel, give them pocket change for their trade-in, and send them out the door with yet another unproven truck platform in long term quality and reliability.

Yeh, could be.  Personally, I never buy on the first year of a new generation whatever it is.  I went to Fords in the early 80’s because GM was late to the game with introducing extended and crew cabs.  Then, after about ten years of Fords went back to GM because I was tired of screwing with Fords I-Beam front end.  It’s my opinion that there really any bad trucks being built these days.  Mainly, it’s about matching wants and needs with the right truck.  And, I’ll grant that brand loyalty is certainly a factor ?....

The best one is where the guy talks about people being to "proud" to admit they made a mistake. Talked to a few service advisors  they would say people would come in complaining about rattles in dash or air noises.... take them down the road and they would be shaking and vibrating and nothing was mentioned.

Hey guys, as an owner of a 2014 double cab, standard bed, two wheel drive w/ 20" factory rims that I bought new in late 2013 and here's my take on fixing the 73+ mph shake:     REPLACE THE 7' ALUMINUM DRIVE SHAFT WITH A TWO PIECE STEEL

1) The vehicle is a "tuning fork" being very sensitive to every little thing (tire balance, axle flanges out of round,  lug centric rims, etc.)

2) The stock excessively long, thin walled, enormously sized diameter shaft starts to act like a jump rope at higher speeds, look under

other manufactures trucks like a Toyota and you'll find a two piece drive shaft, even some of the older GM were two piece.

3) The use of Michelin LTX tires helped my highway shake a lot but it took 7 tires to find 4 that were able to reach acceptable numbers

on the road force balancer. I still had a small vibration which grew worse with time.

After replacing the drive shaft on my 2014 with the performance driveline kit, it rides smooth at highway speeds even with 22" aftermarket rims and cheaper tires. It is not quite as smooth as my last 2002 Silverado but I can now take the 2014 on long interstate trips without being pi**ed off about the nasty vibrations at 73+ mph.

Just my take on it........now on to replace the faulty A/C condenser, compressor and suction line.....should have bought the Toyota!!

Don't the 2019's use the same 7' aluminum drive shaft?  Any reports of them vibrating?

Not trying to be a smart ass, just curious.

steelcity I'm not sure if the '19 model has the same driveshaft as the '14-'18  however the two piece

drive shaft sure took the high speed shake out of mine. Many here reported having the stock one trued

and balanced helping somewhat as well. It was worth the money to me (performance driveline kit) to be

able to travel at 73 mph+ and not have the truck feel like I was in a paint shaking machine.

Have you replaced the A/C condenser yet on your '16? If not go ahead and purchase one now because

you most assuredly will be replacing the stock one.

Per the articles I’ve read about the 2019 they state it’s an all new platform; frame, driveshaft, front end geometry, etc, basically a new truck.   if you’re really interested just Google.

Want to have some fun, go out on twitter or FB and make some comments or complaints and copy a link to these posts. You can tweet to @chevrolet your issues and watch what happens next. They first they will tell you is how sorry they are you're having issues and then tell you to DM (direct mail) them so they can discuss your issues. Look at @chevrolet on twitter, they do this to everyone who's got a complaint. Their PR department wants to keep this buried, they did this a couple times to me and I called them on it, no transparency, the last thing they want is this to go public or viral...#ChevyShake

Yep...GM is not about anything but money, be it taking ours or cutting everything possible...this is directly from their talking points when discussing the lay-offs and plant closings, none of which are in China or Mexico:

"The leadership team is very focused on improving our cash generation and profit performance on each of our vehicles."
