Seat Movement Issues

Prickly would best describe me sorry. Just irritates me as it does the shift clunk thing on way into work parking lot and my driveway every time, so just before I get out of it every time it happens.

On Tuesday brought the earlier mentioned pdf about this issue on the seats in the ATX to the dealer two copies printed in color. Said this is exactly what my seats do (now both of them) I would like tech to attempt this fix if he could. Service manager read through procedure noted gm part numbers for lubricant, shims and clip and scheduled me for today at 7:30am to have it done, dropped truck off left got picked up by wife went to breakfast all that stuff, came back. Service manager said we just looked we dont have any of the stuff needed to do this to your truck, will order it and reschedule....a bit frustating but at least they are making an attempt.

I can agree that fist model year vehicles "may" have issues but it's not like they are engineered 6 months before they roll off the lot. One would suspect many many years of R&D go into these vehicles, but perhaps that is no longer the case.

Your dealer appears more willing to help than mine. I just had my truck in this afternoon for the recall and asked that they check the loose seat again and I too gave them the bulletin. You can move the seat side to side by hand so I showed the service writer and he agreed it didn't seem right. Well, they said movement is normal, per the service manager, and did nothing, again. I will write a letter to the dealers owner and never buy another vehicle from them! I moved away from GM 10 years ago for quality control issues and after coming back this year I'm afraid they made little headway. Otherwise I really like the truck but this is very annoying and NOT normal.

Just took my truck in this morning for the fire recall and had them look at my drivers seat as well. Dealer just called and said they are going to replace the entire seat track. They have to order the part from factory so I will have to take it back next week for the fix.

Not to be a downer for you but they replaced my entire lower seat frame and after a month the problem is back again. I'm going to take the above post to them when I go in next time to see if that does it.

I am bringing my Silverado in for my second oil change and an idling recall next week Monday. I will also address the seat movement for the second time...

Any advice or updates out there yet.

The last time I went there was a bulletin to add "clips", which, did...nothing

Well, they said movement is normal, per the service manager, and did nothing, again.

If they have no fix for the problem, NORMAL is the standard answer.

Mine's going on the 12th.... Same exact seat movement issues, as well as the leaking heater core issue. This morning, the locking differential "locked up" and remained locked up until i placed it back into reverse and then drive again. Only 1100 miles.

Cant wait to see the story the dealer gives me. Good thing im holding their survey hostage. If not, gonna document a service history and call the "lemon lawyer" thats right down the block.

If the GM Customer Service Rep reads this; it would be appreciated if you got in touch with me. I would like for you (customer service) to inform the dealer that this is a common issue so they do not just brush this off.

Alright an update, had the previous mentioned ATS fix done to my drivers seat, the addition of super lube has seemed to eliminate the stick than release when the seat moves so the movement while still there is not readily noticed, for my pickyness it is not really fixed but it is tolerable untill it warms up enough for me to mic the frame where the clips mount and make up some two piece clamps to put on either side of the outer clips on both seats. But it did for the most part make it an easy to ignore movement. No sudden jerk or snap as it breaks free as it did before.

I decided to raise my sitting position over the weekend and guess what.... yep I have the same thing happening. Have not asked the wife or son about the passenger seat. When cornering the seat shifts and you hear a clunk... I lowered the seat back to where I was siting before and it went away. I think I'll wait till there is a fix before I take it to the dealer...

Brought my truck in yesterday for oil change, fire recall and to have them once again look at my seat issue. Service manager took the truck for a drive and was unable to replicate the clunk...when I picked up my truck, I realised that he had moved the seat ahead and down to make it more comfortable for his driving...duh...no clunk in that position...
