Just had mine done yesterday. FM seems a little better. The nave was updated too and is a little different..

Did they change the module, or just a software update?

Just a software. I believe I might have the new module from when they fixed my blue rings..

The "rings" are fixed by replacing the HMI module ( display) . The radio is a sperate piece behind the display. Just like older radios but without a display. The radio is what gets updated for the reception problems. I updated my radio (8/13 build). Can't say I notice any difference.

So what gives with this radio deal. I thought this was going to be a nice cut and dry fix. Change the module, update the software and we would be good to go. Hah,not likely. All TJay's work for not?

Jay15892 seems to be the exception here. I wonder,is the software update "exactly" what they did to TJay's radio. An engineering change should supercede anything already existing. If the module on pre '14 builds needs replaced (per engineering findings) then do it. Shouldn't have bickering between owners and dealers (GM).

What changed from the TJay radio fix to the PI 1288 being issued? GM not wanting to change out ($$) all those new radio modules I bet.

I get more annoyed with each passing day because of this suckass radio in my truck!

Jay15892 said his "FM seems a little better", I wouldn't consider that an exception.

I hear that. But a bit better than no change at all.

All in all this supposed "fix" is a failure.

I Agree.

I'm still waiting for someone that has an 2014 build year truck to actually get the update and comment on it. Everyone commenting having 2013 build years and haven't had a module replacement. Until then, the update very well could work, but need those with the newer module to comment.

When my dealer told me I was the first to bring this up, I chalked it up as a normal reply they give for just about everything. Well, I called four (4), other dealers around the Pittsburgh area to see if the "fix" worked on anyone's truck and not a one had anyone complaining about radio reception!!! Figure that one out.

So this does not help the situation at all. If people aren't complaining, then those of us who do, are very few and far between and this radio deal will never become a major issue.

They want you to think it is only you so that you will just accept it and not cost them any time or money.

Here is something to consider, Honda had an exact issue bad reception dropping signal.

Feedback was swift from customers and Honda acted swifter. A fix/change was completed within 3 months minimizing customers effected. Also any customers that complain to dealers are then scheduled for the repair to be preformed.

What did GM do about this......

What is GM going to do about this......nothing !

We just want GM to step up and do the right thing, not just the radio reception but the other big issues also. I have always loved and owned GM products and now they are really testing that bond.

GM, what your dealerships do and tell GM owners is a direct reflection of you.....and makes it seem like you don't care about your customers. I'm not just talking about the radio reception either.

We've had only one customer complain about reception. Pre PI 1288 . Hasn't been back.

For anyone who cares I borrowed a pic from this forum showing the radio location.

tbarn, do you happen to know what the P/N is for replacing the radio module? This might help us with a '13 build go to dealers and let them know what needs to be fixed. Plus the update of course

Well I finally had my truck out on a longer drive since all of my work with the engineers. While my city reception was a lot better since the update my country reception is still lacking as well. HD was switching in and out the entire trip to my parents who are only 35 miles from me (I live in Norman OK, they live in Tecumseh OK) where on the same drive my wifes Lincoln MKX does just fine.

Still leads me to believe there is a reception issues in this system, it is a lot weaker than the previous generation trucks for sure.
