Got an email as well. Called my dealership and spoke to a different person than last time. This person actually knew about the recall and I scheduled an appointment for Saturday.

Me too, made appt. "we need it for at least 5 hours"....... huh? The longer it remains in their possession the more likely Joe Greasy Thumbs is likely to ding it, scratch it, or dent it.

Yep - mine was in the body shop for 2 days after warranty work on pulsating brakes and squeaky/rattling interior that they never fixed .....

But I've got some nice gouges showing up 7 years later, from the Bondo they used on the front corner plastic pieces shrinking.

Lot tech wiped out the entire passenger side from bumper to bumper .... :M16:

The dealership is not doing donuts in your truck for 5 hours or neutral drop drag races. They are more than likely stacking up a bunch of trucks at once to do the recall stuff and cannot guarantee a specific 30 minute window for the actual work to be done.

Sorry your jaded with dealership service departments. I get some are turds but a dealership service department should be researched and part of the decision process just the same as buying the truck. Why buy a truck from a dealership at all if you cannot trust their service department?

Because I've had incidents similar to the ones stated, cross your fingers and hope for the best but one careless tech can ruin your day.

I agree. I just think while they gave you a 5 hour window, they are not really going to be in the seat any more than if you had a 30 minute appointment. They are stacking them and getting each one done at their leisure.

Yeah, that's the general impression I got from the Service Writer.

Mine goes in this morning, Service writer called me yesterday after telling me on Monday that I had no recalls. I did receive the e-mail and like others it went to the spam folder.

How does one know if GM has our e-mail address?

I gave them mine when I brought my truck. Also had it signed up for the onstar updates etc. One thing I noticed yesterday evening. I had already got my email about the recall but just for the heck of it I put my VIN in on the GMC web site and it did not show it yet. I'm sure I will also get a letter in the mail plus my dealer will have me on a list.
