issue RECALL - Fire Risk

lots of ppl here sure seem to think they pee and poop excellence.. if you all think you could have forseen this very odd condition (lean or rich) to cause a converter overtemp then you are worth your weight in gold. should it have happened no but i mean really they are making a reliable tune for something driven in -60 temps up to 130F from a guy who is WFO from light to light and grams who never breaks 30mph while meeting CAFE requirements, oh yea all while being able to tow like 7000lbs. nope your 1914 model T couldnt do a single one of those things.. And as mentioned above how about the Ferrari 458's that cought on fire while driving.. to me a ferrari is the end all be all for a car and i would still beat doen the door for a 458 if i had that sort of $$

BECAUSE AS AN AMERICAN CONSUMER I AM SICK AND TIRED OF ***ALL*** MANUFACTURERS PRODUCING OVERPRICED JUNK!!

I demand ethics & honesty return to manufacturing. This goes for everything from dishwashers to pickups! We're getting SCREWED, and people just sit back and take it like good little sheep.

I will happily call out and ridicule ANY manufacturer that sends out a $40k + vehicle with failures like this! How many Model T's caught fire in 1914? In 100 years of manufacturing, you mean we STILL haven't learned to produce a QUALITY product??? It's 2014!! People carry hand held computers for God's sake!

There is NO excuse for this. NONE. If you think this is acceptable, then God help you.

I couldn't agree more. The quality has slipped for many manufactured items, including automobiles. The fire recall is real and tangible, why some individuals defend them to the death is unreal. Every auto manufacturer has recalls, but when I see actual vehicles on fire due to a defect I get concerned. I am in the market for a new truck, what is important to me when I shop is in this order:

1. Quality built vehicle with as few issues as possible;

2. Something I enjoy driving;

3. Resale value.

I put quality 1st, I need a vehicle to get to/from work. If the truck is not reliable I cannot get to work and earn $$$ to pay for that new truck. I just won't accept a cheaply made vehicle, not saying that GM builds crap, but this is concerning. I think GM will correct some of these issues, but might be best to wait til 2015 model year.

I am not a lemming, there are quite a few loyalists or enthusiasts on a lot of Ford and GM sites. I guess some accept mediocrity, I don't. People just want a well built vehicle and a company that will stand behind them if there are problems. Some of the issues are incompetent dealers unfortunately. Keep on GM as well as other manufactures, it will only help us consumers in the long run.

This is terrible reporting. I work for Chevrolet, and actually know this truck. It had nothing to do with the recall, it had something to do with the 2 amps that were installed by amateurs. If the reporter had done any bit of research, she would have found that the recall is related to the remote start, and has only affected trucks in sub zero weather. The owner of this truck went so far as to cut a large hole in the back of his trucks cab so he could fit more speakers in the vehicle. Who know how big of a hole they cut in the firewall to be able to pass the power lines for the amps. This is a case of not having the work done professionally, and now trying to go after anyone but the person responsible, himself!

Wow. I can see how a botched audio install would cause a fire.

I called the dealer myself today because I haven't been notified, and my truck is part of the recall. They are supposed to be setting me up with loaner next week so that they can address recall, bad vibration, moisture in headlights (told me they were vented and was normal), creak in suspension when cold, and ON STAR hasn't worked since I took delivery in Oct.

Took mine in today, got a call at lunch time saying it was ready to go. Four recalls performed 13330 (ECM / TCM Update), 13318 (back window regulator), 14008 (BCM update), and 13257 (another BCM update). Also did an alignment as it was showing as being toed out a little (had to pay for that part of it). Didn't notice any difference in how the truck drives afterwards and it was pretty painless overall.

I had the same four recall fixes performed today as well. As previously stated by others, feels exactly the same.

Huh....they only did 13370 (Fuel pump pressure regulator) and 14008 on mine.

I don't know when you got yours, but I bought my in July of 2013, with a build date of 5/13, and I haven't had it in since for any of this stuff. Yours may have been done before you bought yours.

I bought mine in December and I'm not even sure what the build date is.

Yeah, all that stuff except for the fire recall has probably already been taken care of.

In between the front and rear doors toward the bottom of the pillar is a silver sticker with the date in the top right corner or there is a sticker on the frame just under the drivers door.
