I'm not trying to get into this battle but I noticed something interesting. I have a 2016 LTZ. The off-road screen does show the shaft going forward from the transfer case lit up all the time. When you engage AUTO the whole front end lights up as a mirror image of the rear end. This is the same for 4 hi. Someone (I think a GM tech) pointed out the shaft going forward from the transfer case is always engaged and the image would tend to corroborate that. I will say I used AUTO recently due to ice sleet and snow and for got about it. A few days later I cut it off and other than the reduction in resistance I couldn't tell the difference. I was going over 70 when I realized it was still engaged.

I made this point in post 95 and 108. I think it may be why there is some confusion about them being the same as AWD trucks to some.

Btw Jon, since you are monitoring this thread, I wanted to let you know I called you out a few weeks ago about where the 6.2's make power. You said the intake and exhaust. I called BS on you thinking thats impossible it has to be the manifolds.

Well did you look at the blackbear intake test? I was wrong! I couldn't believe it.

Sorry, I haven't felt like looking at those in detail yet. I'll get around to it.

This is a question for everyone with the electronic transfer case control knob on thier dash. Do you normaly have use 2 wheel or Auto for every day driving? My saleman told me to use Auto for extra safety. But I am wondering if that is really necessary.

There is a thread on here with a million replies debating what to do. I think you should do what ever you like. I kept mine in 2 till I was in the rain or pulling my boat out of the water. Basically I put it in auto when ever I think 4 could be needed

I use auto 4wd like I would use 4X4. I have good tires and use 2wd for most of the year.

Why does this question keep getting asked?

Probably because some people don't know so they're asking on this forum (which is what it's for) to find out the answer to their question. That would be my guess.

Auto makes the front drive line be engaged. The truck drives more sluggish and it consumes more fuel. Owner's manual even states this. I treat Auto like "Subaru mode". IE- light off-road, rain, etc. normal dry driving is 2wd. I will say that I've never had a truck with an auto transfer case, and thought it was a gimmick. After owning my truck i won't buy one w/out it. Made me a believer. Especially when I had the SRA's and in the FL summer and it always raining. Very good feature when properly used.

I never noticed my truck being sluggish at all, about every time I had it in auto I didn't realize it till I randomly looked down to notice it. I also didn't notice much difference if any at all in mpg. maybe .000001 difference :driving:

Why does this question keep getting asked?

Because no one uses the search feature...

Its easier for them to just ask than spend 2 minutes looking for the same question.

    • WTI futures / speculation is just that. WTI futures <> current 4-7% inflation and national average gas price over $4.00/gallon.   The spot price, at delivery, is currently $87-$95/barrel which is why gas prices remain high.   Edit: oH mY gOd mEnTaL BrEaKdoWn In tHE pOsT aBOve mInE. • He does, actually. In another unrelated video he mentions the president called him in the middle of the night to relay some information on a cause (religious based) that he's invested in. Glenn expressed concern that another leftist administration could wield too much power with some procedure the Pentagon was using, classifying certain religions a certain way. Being that he is LDS (Latter Day Saints), he gets hate all the time from ALL over the political spectrum, so he's invested in this. Trump called him back at 5AM to tell him he had made some changes to that classification.   So, yes, they are and have been in contact regularly since the start of the administration. Glenn, of course, always asks his permission before discussing anything on the air.   I already spent an hour or more just searching for these videos. I may have my numbers wrong - I'm not a numbers guy. It may have been a MILLION barrels, not 1.5. The point is, our President, by his actions, gives a crap about America, and US - this is completely OPPOSITE the actions of the prior administration who projected hatred for anyone who wasn't following the left's edicts in lock-step.   Remember, they called January 6th an "Insurrection", when there were ZERO weapons among the crowd, undercover FBI agents agitating the crowd, along with paid leftists acting as aggressors, egging the crowd on in an attempt to whip everyone into a frenzy. It's all been proven.  Pelosi refused Trumps request for more National Guard troops. This smells 100% like an inside job for those with critical thinking skills. Only a handful of guys in the crowd got wrapped up in that, thankfully, but EVERYONE was searched out based on cell phone data, and charges were brought against many. And 6 or so people were locked up and left in solitary confinement for YEARS with ZERO due process!! If you give the slightest crap about our Nation, REGARDLESS of your political leanings, this should frighten you to your core. This is what men suffered, bled, fought, and died against 250 years ago!   This has gone FAR BEYOND left vs. right. This is a  threat to America, and our way of life. This is PRECISELY why Trump, a BILLIONAIRE who could have chosen to take Melania and sit on some tropical island that he could afford to buy himself and RELAX, instead chose to run for office, get hate from literally every corner of the media, get ATTEMPTS on his LIFE constantly, and begin to repair some of the severe damage that's been done to this Great Nation.   I don't know why I bother wasting my precious time here. Everyone has their minds made up. They won't realize we all were correct until it's too late ... after they elect another tyrant that hates America to office (Obama), or another puppet whose administration is secretly running the show behind the scenes (Biden).
    • Hello, Im in a bit of a bind maybe someone could help me out.  We towed our trailer, up a pretty steep incline (395 north of Bishop) done it before no issues. I dont hear or feel the pump turning on. My dilemma, is nearest dealer  is 4hrs away that has the pump instock. Is it safe to drive? By me checking the available voltage at the connector and not hearing/feeling pump turn on, is it a bad pump? Please help...
