I picked it up about an hour ago.  It is very stealthy, you don't hear the SC at all!  The weather is really ugly right now so I don't have much else to share, picture or video wise.  There are no drivability issues whatsoever, under normal driving you wouldn't even know its there. 

The tech went back and was able to install the Whipple belt on it.  His guess is that Whipple made the belt so tight that it has more room for adjustment after it stretches.  He basically had to loosen the adjustable pulley so that it was able to wobble at an angle and allow the belt to start.  

I will share more when I can.

Following. Looking at doing the 3.0 Whipple on mine. My Chevy dealer has a performance shop as well and they said the only way they would do it safely and warranty the motor is also replace the pistons with forged and redo the heads springs, lifters and pushrods.

That seems a bit excessive but it might be good in the long run, depending on what your ultimate goals are.

They said that the pistons are cast and proned to failure on these new 6.2s in our trucks when boosted. The lifters, springs and rods have been proned to failure in stock form and added HP and pressures only increase the chances.

They actually warranty the motor for 36k miles. The end result according to them after the dyno tuning would be 575-600 rwh.

You are the first one I have seen post that "the 6.2L lifters, springs and rods have been prone to failure" on the T1 6.2L...

I have read a few articles about valve spring failure and lifter collapse, but I'm certain that can happen at any point. I have had my RST over a year now with zero issues. I figure they dyno them to 575-600 wheeled hp is the reason for the upgrades. From the sounds of it, I would be okay with the canned tune.

I agree that it would eliminate some weak points when adding boost. Worst case if you were to leave it stock is that you end doing everything they mentioned later. Im in the 2nd camp. If i end up tearing down for a broken valve spring, ill rebuild it back stronger.

 

As a reference, hennessey is boosting silverados with full warranty. They add "crankcase ventilation" i.e. catch can as well as hardened push rods.

I had my springs replaced with a dual spring setup just for peace of mind. Mine was built in the middle of the valve spring issue.

The 3.0 whipple on a 6.2 is going to make high 400's to low 500's whp, if they are making 600whp, they are doing way more than just the blower, or putting a much smaller pulley on it. Its definitely not the whipple kit as is.

I will be doing away with the DoD in the near future and that will be the time to do a few upgrades...

No huge news, but the truck is great and much faster, at least by my calibrated seat-of-the-pants evaluation.  The only negative I have is that, I’d say it is a bit prone to surging early in the power band.

I agree with the surging. How was the transmission been for you? Mine feels like it can get confused if it wants to drop a gear or not. Sometimes it does, sometimes it hesitates. Some of the gear changes seem a bit harsh too. The t93 isnt tuneable, so ill live with it. I heard they do some amount of learning, so i considered looking into a reset on it.

I noticed the trans issue even before the install.  If you are hard on and off the throttle, it seems to think about the shifts more than make them, sometimes.

With that supercharger I am almost certain that your powertrain warranty will be 100% voided

    • I agree with Tim.  As tech heavy as engines are these days, no way I’d be an early buyer of the new 6.6.  Of course, I bought my ‘26 Denali w/the 6.2 after dumping my Tundra with it’s defective 3.5 liter imploding engine disaster, so I’m a little gun-shy.  That said, my 6.2 has been rock solid.  I don’t drive it like I do my BMW Z4 M40i, but I don’t baby it either.  I got a V8 for a reason.  But I’m averaging 18 around town and 22 highway.  I have seen 24 highway as well when I wasn’t loaded up heavy.  Considering my Tundra with the twin turbo V6 only got 14.5 in town and 17 on the road, I’ll take the 6.2 all day, every day.  If I were you, I’d grab a ‘26 while you can.  Inventories are probably gonna start dropping and I’ll bet the deals will start looking sweeter as well.
    • I am curious if anyone has figured out a way to add an hard button AUX or 360 Camera switch to the center row of switches. I have a 2021 AT4, and want to split the hill decent button and add a 360 camera button so that you don't have to go into the center display and locate the camera functionality, etc...   My father's 2024 Yukon XL AT4 and it has a hard button, see below. I found this thread on the Yukons, but it seems like there may not be a part number for the 2021 sierras. https://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/255339-adding-hard-button-for-camera-on-2021/ Anyone else figured this out.     • Through the years it hasn't been my typical method as I tried to drop oil on an engine that was hot from having been worked, however that was not always practical and had to fire up a unit and let it warm up reasonably well and drop the oil when I had the time to do it but am referring to not only vehicles but a variety of farm equipment and highway tractors etc. However on a vehicle where one is crawling under it and the exhaust is nearby to ones body and if wanting to pull the plug without danger of being hit with boiling hot oil or attempting to remove a HOT oil filter, its sure safer and easier to not have everything smoking hot and can remove the filter right away when under the vehicle and let it all drain. Of course its not the end of the world if a bit of oil stays in the engine that might have eventually found its way out, I like to get out as much as possible but any oil changes that take place in shops would rarely be sitting around for very long at all before the plug is thrown back in and filter slapped on and oil poured in and sent out the door quick like. There would be very little time spent ( assuming they even did it ) in starting the engine with oil to fill the filter, then waiting to verify the level on the stick. A good reason to check ones oil level shortly after a shop changed the oil on a vehicle just to make sure its correct and to look under for any oil around the drain plug or filter.
