What's the consensus on tuning a leased vehicle? They won't look into that upon lease return will they? I cannot stand the drive ability of this truck currently. Really just wish I could return the lease now.

I have tuned, modded, cut, and welded every lease vehicle I have ever had which is many. My last lease was a twin turbo, fully built trans Dmax, luckily I had a buddy buy it out at the end so I did not have to return it to stock to take it back.

My last car was a lease. I lowered it and did some easy mods. but upon trade in the dealer bought me out of my lease. So I didnt have to worry about taking my mods off.

My truck is also a lease, Ive tuned and installed catback exhaust. I kept the stock exhaust all in one piece tho, so I can go back to stock in a matter of minutes for the tune and about an hour or two of time to put the stock exhaust back on.

Just looking for some piece of mind. I currently have a Diablosport Intune on my 14 6.2L max tow 3.73. I received a new TCM calibration since mine wasn't supported yet. I am running the diablo tune with DOD off. The only other setting I changed is trans shift to firm. I have to say for a canned tuner the truck runs very well now. I did notice the firm shift tune causes the truck to stay in gear longer and it does not race to get to the lowest gear possible like stock. I was impressed as it works well this way for towing my TT. More power when you need it.

Only thing I get nervous about is you can hear some of the downshifts now. To be clear I just hear positive clicks, not clunks and you can't feel it. I have always been told it's better to have a firmer shift then a soft for tranny longevity. Am I just paranoid about hearing it engage?

Feedback welcome.....

question of the day -

dealership is modding my tune to account for the 33's i am running. This should show up on the counter but does it show up specifcally for adjustment to the tires on the counter/tracker?

no one knows for sure what GM can see, I am thinking if they read the entire ECM/TCM and they compare it to the stock calibration they will see every change we make.

Some one needs to come up with a way to fry the computer, engine troubles fry the computer. Not something I would do of course.

they aren't going to see the actual tuning parameters, they will only see that it was flashed. thats the issue with "gm can't see the tune" being said in this threads. its not totally true for what people think at first.

also, this applies to cell phones and flashing custom roms. usually though no one cares and will allow warranty work.

Hey, remember GM stands for Govt. Motors now. THEY SEE EVERYTHING... Just kidding, I would really like to know myself. I really want to get a tune but Im just a little skittish since Ive had so many problems. I just want to turn off V4 and tune out some TQ management. Nothing major.

I bit the bullet and bought a hypertech max energy ,totally diff feel to truck now .better on fuel to

What settings do you have yours on?

On our 14 Sierra, the biggest gains were inthe throttle response. I felt the factory throttle cal was about the worst offered by GM ever, and after some fine tuning, we were able to make the throttle much more lively, and we offer the end user further adjustment to make the throttle response work to your liking :)

Theres also a solid 20 rwhp/20-25 ft-lbs in the tunes...

Our tunes can't be seen by the dealer either ;)

i know this is old but its sad to me you lie to the members here to sell your garbage can tunes. Any changes made to the ecm calibration can be seen on these trucks. the dealer can see anytime the computer is flashed.

    • My truck is a ¾ ton but my placard also says 80 for the rear tires, I think I might have the upgraded suspension to the 3500 series maybe.   I put my air down to 60 and the light was still on, and there was no way I was putting over 60 psi in the rear empty and not towing because I knew the actual number Toyo gave me and I didn't wanna ruin the center of my tires!   And you actually can change it in the settings from metric or is and it will show kph or mph then when you go into your tire settings it will be either psi or kpa, but it would be nice to just change it directly on the tire psi page
    • Common Sense Assembly   Your driveline is forgiving of the occasional mistake. It will even often forgive the random serious blunder. But it will not forgive a continuous bad habit.      What? Not everything needs to be a five thousand word essay.
    • We drove about 15 minute east today to visit a friend and saw a steep increase in price in the same county. About 50 cents a gallon steepper.
    • Sure about that? A degree wheel and a dial indicator would lower your degree of assurance in that statement. 😉    It why we have offset keys and dialable timing sprockets. Just say'n.... I've built a few and have never seen one "On the money".
    • I will admit I haven't experimented much with pressure drops beyond the numbers I put in and part of that is that the numbers I used are fairly low and then found out it would trigger regardless at that 35 psi. Having said that I had tried before had changed the placard pressures and being that I have a 1 ton set to 80 on the placard for the rear I believe it triggered close to 60, the front I don't recall now for sure but thought maybe it could get close to 45 from that factory 60 placard pressure. So I never did figure out if it was a number of psi from placard pressure to the alarm or a percentage of the total placard number as some figured it was like a 25% drop from placard pressure would trigger it. So as to try and answer your question, I believe I set the placard pressure on the front to 47 or so and while I run the front tires at 40, they have dipped below that some if its colder and I haven't put "winter air" in yet and never once have had the front alarm go off. I would say that the answer your looking for is no, that if you set your placard pressure to 45, you have a certain amount of room to drop below that pressure before the alarm will go off.    The pressures you decide to run in your truck, that ends up being what makes sense to you based on what your carrying in your truck or if towing, then have to bump them back up to something that will carry the load in the rear and the fronts typically left at the same pressure. It all comes down to that chart I put the link to and using an accurate roadside scale to be your guide, both unloaded and then loaded to know your minimum safe pressures.    I just wish GM would allow a person to change the readings for the tire pressures to the English system of pounds as I have to look at that goofy metric reading that will never ever jive in my head and will go over and change it just to figure out what they are if need be and then change it back.
