So i have a question I hope it's not too stupid but would telling Justin's to make the shifts quicker necessarily mean that the shift will be harder/stiffer when I first asked him to adjust the first tune I asked if he could stiffen them up made a difference but it mainly seemed to affect it when I'm flooring it so I was thinking maybe if i ask him to make the shifts quicker it would fix some of my shits during light throttle they still seem to be a little sloppy still.

Justin was able to adjust my transmission shifts to mirror my gas pedal pressure... on a slow take off the Trans shifts take place in lower rpm like my old 4L60E in my Vett. The shifts are quick and you can even feel the truck lung a bit with the low rpm shifts. Under heavy gas pedal pressure the rpm's are up above 5,000 so I have the best of both worlds. I did not care for the rpm’s to rise up under a slow speed take off…

Well I actually want it to hold the gears a little longer during regular driving light throttle right now they shift to early and seem to be slow shifts not quick which was the reason I got the tune. Under heavy throttle its amazing it's just under light throttle I feel it needs some work.

I'm looking for the same on my truck, maybe even a better throttle response and more low end power if thats possible. I've been emailing back and forth with justin so hopefully we can get something figured out.

Well hopefully he can get that for you I haven't emailed him but I probabaly will here shortly to see if he can make the adjustments. Let me know how it comes out.

He should be able to give your tranny a stall on up shifting, you just need to let him know at what rpm you want the tranny to shift.

I asked him the same question and on light throttle it holds the shift...light throttle meaning under 15mph. However, it doesn't up shift like it did from the dealer.

It also will downshift quickly when I stomp on it, no hesitation and then it will hold the shift until about 5500 rpm while stomping on it.

 

The best advice I can give anyone is to send BBP an email asking what you want and explain it as best as you can. He'll get back to you when he can...which may be about a week or so considering all the emails he gets. Jarrad may also answer your questions, so don't be surprised if you get an email from him. Both of them are very helpful and patient and will help you with what you want, you just need to give them time to get to your email...so ask all that you want in your first email is best.

 

I found making my email easier to read with questions may help them also (i.e. using bullet points to your questions) as they can get to your point quicker as oppose to a long email like this post I'm doing now...LOL!

Here's an example for this post:

  • Ask all your questions in one email
  • Be as clear as possible to what you want
  • BBP should be able to tune your trans to stall (give them detail as to what rpm)
  • Don't expect a quick reply, wait at least a week
  • They are there to help you
  • You may get responses from Jarrad and/or Justin

Hello,

 

Does anyone know what the main differences are in the diablo intune CA version and the version available to every other state? I want to purchase one but i don't know if there are any benefits between the two. I am in CA and wonder if its easier to buy one used off here or just a CA version.

To Hauz_Z71, I agree with Kerrslight's comments. A tune on an otherwise stock truck will give you a bump in performance, shifting and possibly a slight increase in fuel economy. It is hard to explain, but you will enjoy your truck a lot more. It will act like you just took 1000 lbs out of the bed and then drove it. I personally feel like GM is handcuffed by the EPA and government regulations. A tune will give your truck the ability to perform like the engineers intended. The difference is impressive. BUT, you have to ask yourself if you are prepared to forfeit your factory warranty on the engine and drivetrain for the benefits of a tune?

 

So far, I have been fortunate. Have tuned my last two Corvettes, a 2002 and a 2010 and a 2008 Sierra Denali 6.2L. All had headers installed with the tune. Not one of them had any engine or transmission problems related to the tune. The 2008 Sierra did need to have the transmission partially rebuilt and GM covered it under warranty at 35,000 miles. It had a factory defect in a weld on the 2-3 clutch basket that had nothing to do with the tune. I told the dealer it was tuned and they still covered it because it was clear there was a defect in the weld from day one. All were tuned by Chuck Mosello (Chuck CoW) from Corvettes of Westchester. Nothing against, BlackBear. They have an excellent reputation. If not for previous experience with Chuck, I would go with BlackBear. Both use EFI Live and an AutoCal. The AutoCal allows you to connect to your vehicle and send scans to your tuner via your PC or laptop. Then your tuner reads and analyzes your scans and sends you a tune via email for you to put in your vehicle. It is a custom tune specific to your vehicle, the gas in your region and how your vehicle is used. Good luck with your decision!

Hey guys, I have a 2016 Z71 with the 5.3L motor, it also has Active Fuel Management. I want to get a tuner that will add HP and get rid of the AFM that also can change my shift points what would y'all recommend that isn't extremely pricey

Start with the GAS PEDAL MOD! COST....0.00$when using wood from garage! Proper fix with Nylon spacers and plastic shim 5.00-6.00$

 

This is why I went with a Chebby! I have options.....
