Hello! I purchased a 2021 Sierra 1500 AT4 Duramax last Saturday while the truck was still in transit. I had to scoop it before it got the dealer since most trucks are selling before they arrive. Today is Friday and the truck still hasn't shown up at the dealer. It had an estimated ETA of July 3rd.

The latest update shows as being delayed at the train yard in Santa Rosa, New Mexico.

Anyone has had the same thing happened to them?

What's up folks!!

For the first time in my life, I am finally in a good position to purchase a brand new vehicle, and I have been eyeing the 2019-2021 Silverado's for quite awhile, in fact, ever since they came out.  I am looking to buy a nice Crew Cab RST in the next few months, but I see the selection has really dwindled down since the last time I was actually looking online before the pandemic!  Is it really that bad right now?  I want a Crew cab, 5.3 Liter, with the center console and 20 inch wheels.   Z71, 4wd, even Max trailer pkg would be nice, but not necessary.  I was hoping to stay in the low to mid 40s.... is that just unrealistic at this point?   I have been trying to read back within the thread to get caught up on the current state of inventory, and it sounds like folks have been waiting MONTHS for trucks they ordered to be delivered, which tells me, dealer inventory on the lot is scarce.

I just traded in my 2020 RST 4x4 Z71 with 17K miles and they gave me 50K for it. Used ones are currently going for 52+ in my area. Mid 40s is where I bought it last year before everything took a nosedive.

I found a truck on GMC.com's search feature. It was not yet produced but was close. I put a deposit on it with the dealer who was out of state. Took a little bit, but eventually they said it was on a train and had an ETA of the 30th of June. It just arrived a few days ago and awaiting the dealer to put the accessories in it (console safe, upgraded mats, tint, etc). I know it is a guessing game, and the vehicle world is upside down right now, but I feel your pain. I am not sure if the ETAs are from GM or not, but much of the time it seems like a best guess of the dealer which is usually super optimistic compared to reality.

Just wanted to throw this out there, those waiting for 2022s should keep in mind that even though 2022 orders may start, they will most likely have the same long term delays and not have all of the options you want. They just cut wireless charging out of the 2021s in addition to the tech package, auto start, etc. Hopefully they are doing this to stockpile chips for the 2022s to be released at full capability, but just something to keep in mind.

Still no word about my truck - 2021 SLT ordered in January, built in February.  Sitting since then due to MP shortage.

Seeing the GM incentives slowly decrease each month sure are adding insult to injury.  They are $2000 less than when I ordered it.

Did you get the 5.3 or 6.2 engine?  Same situation for me.  Is yours in Indiana or Mexico?

Just curious... what led you to trade in your 2020 so soon?

I reached out to GMC through chat and they told me the truck is still sitting at the train yard after being offloaded from the train. They couldn't give me an ETA for transport to the dealer. The wait sucks!!!

Hey All,

Ordered a Silverado 1500 I6 Diesel LTZ with only the Z71 package extra.  Dealer said preliminary order was accepted on May 27 and today said the factory accepted the order.

Took me a month and a half to find a dealer to order what I wanted with Supplier pricing and GM Rewards.. I even tried to order from the #1 volume dealer in the country in Texas and they said they would not sell to me unless I lived in the state...  we'll see if my local state volume dealer will honor the pricing if and when the truck arrives along with the rebates which at the time they promised.  They said there was GM Star Guarantee or something like that which they promise the rebates at time ordered and will honor them when it arrives if they happen to be even better.  Rebates already went down $1000 in the wrong direction..

Saw mention of Driver Alert holding up orders, is that for lane changes or?  Thanks and good luck to all you fellow waiters.

Picked it up Yesterday!  So May 27 - July 16.  Crew Cab w/ Standard Bed, built in and shipped from Indiana to Denver.  Good luck to all of those out there still waiting.

There were sales guys talking about the 2022's, so likely August will be the release on those.

Wish I knew the rhyme or reason behind what gets delayed. My LT with just a bed liner Was built 5/10 and Still sitting on the lot waiting for chip. Guess just random luck on whether they got all the parts on the line that day or not.

This was today (July 19)

Anyone else hear this/ Is my dealer blowing smoke up my .... just to get out of the deal?

    • There are probably a few threads talking about fuel mileage but this one seemed to fit the stats I have seen based on my typical local driven route but with different outcomes based on different seasons/temperatures. I have a few hundred pounds of items that consistently ride on the truck at all times such as a bak flip cover, rubber bed mat, tools and extra fuel so I would be something over 8100 lb without me in the truck. All these examples are based on a 100 mile round trip to a town plus running around town so maybe 110 to 120 miles in total for a trip. Using regular fuel and I assume it always has some ethanol in it but don't know the percentage they blend in. Also speed wise I am going at 62 mph and non aggressive driving although less speed yet if its crappy winter condition roads. I am going by an initial reset of the computer generated fuel use numbers averaged over a couple of thousand miles or so for each weather/season so they may be more optimistic then actual hand calculated numbers. Basically this is painting a picture of doing the same drive but seasonal conditions and temperature being the major variable to the end result. Oh and although I am in Alberta Canada, I am converting it to miles per US gallon so there is no confusion.    So winter time it gets cold here, no real surprise there and the roads can be clear at times but also often have packed rough snow or are are driving through loose snow ( they do a poor job of plowing the highways ) and yes this includes the extra idle engine time due to trying not to freeze ones butt off. 12.7 mpg is what I was getting during the winter months on average.    Then during the spring when it was around the freezing point and the highways are clear of snow, I was getting around 14.25 mpg.   Summer time, I have been getting around 15.15 on average but certainly some of the trips showed quite a bit better fuel mileage, so much depended on how much or little I had driven around town and number of engine restarts after sitting for a while at each location. But stating a best fuel mileage trip to town pretending that is what the truck gets on average is fooling ones self for sure !.      As I said in a different post, I had driven a 645 mile trip over a couple of days stint to a different destination then these other daily to town examples above, and was done during the summer with nice weather and not bucking a head wind, also keeping at 62 mph and its a rolling landscape type highway drive ( this isn't southern Alberta or Saskatchewan flat lands ) Hand calculated fuel mileage in this case though and it came out to 17.65
