I hate the snow, but the Sequoia does great in it. Thing is as big as and weighs as much as a tank and has the MPG to prove it LOL

 

And SB, I'll be back in Westlake next month, I'll be there for three days and will get to Babes at least twice if not 3 times :)

Awwww come on Bill go have some fun and go 4wheeling, I bet the Sequoia will do pretty well. I know they are saying 15-20" for me over in our Blizzard Warning, but they ALWAYS UNDER PREDICT for us, so I'm saying 24"

Anyone tried adding BB's to the tires? Like you do on trailer wheels/tires

My brothers dealership actually mentioned trying that. I will ask him what the outcome was

Another major thing difference on this generation is the cab/box mounts. They are so called "shear-mount". They have an internal metal-metal arrangement to limit the horizontal movements. I suspect it's all about getting "body-on-frame" vehicles up to the crash testing levels of unibody vehicles. Question is, how do these mounts affect vibration transmissibility....my guess, way more than the engineers counted on. It may take a generation or two for them to sort this out, and get back to the ride and comfort quality of the previous generation plus the increased crash-worthilness they crave to keep their sales up. Personally, a 6500lb truck has enough inherent crashworthiness against a Honda Civic that I really don't care what the NTSHA says, but oops, I didn't say that out loud, did I?

There have been approximately 10,440 replies to this thread, and I have been watching very closely for a fix. I have been to the dealer multiple times, and they have been unwilling to assess the vibration issue beyond balancing the tires. I have hated driving this truck knowing the issue that is present. After 4x 20+ hour trips between TX and KY with vibration the entire way at cruising speed I have finally found the fix for this truck. I bought a RAM 1500 today, took a little swim, and I have never been happier with driving my personal truck. I recommend to all.

2017 Express 4wd w/ 5.7. Have a 2016 2wd Tradesman as a work truck and both make me happy.

You know I had both trucks on a lift nnbs and a 2015, I seen no differences in the frames, GM makes it sound like alot more then it is.

2017 Express 4wd w/ 5.7. Have a 2016 2wd Tradesman as a work truck and both make me happy.

I went out to buy the Ram as I like dodge ended up with Silverado,thank God I don't have the shakes yet.Good luck one thing I don't like is most dodge/mopar I've had seem to create loud cold starts longer they sit louder it is,knocking drives me nuts.Full synthetic will help with cold starts,especially if your not driving it daily.

How many miles did it take for yours to start shaking again? Whenever I had my driveshaft rebalanced, I thought it was fixed but after about a week of driving it started again. It's been 20 days and almost 800 miles since replacing the axles and the truck has been shake free since. I'm paranoid about it but the truck has never been smoother

 

TYpically about a week but if you have gone 800 miles I'm thinking you may be over the hump ;)

Yup, that's marketing. I did do a little googling though and both the GMT900 and K2XX frames are completely boxed and both have hydroformed front sub-frames. Beyond that, deminsions, hardness, rigidity of steel, etc, can't say.

Already made one emergency trip to the vets in it and hope I don't have to make another. It is getting close to 2 feet out there. My boy Oz is having some issues recovering from a recent surgery.

Nightwalker and all.....I am not advertising Ram. I am only saying that what makes me happy is a truck that does not vibrate or has the potential to vibrate. I can go about my life without worrying about whether my tires/torque converter/rear pinion gear/rear brake disks/rear axle/ anything are out of whack.

 

I bought a 1500 Silverado because I liked the look and feel of it. I quickly realized that (after all this vibration nonsense) that I love the Ram truck. If I was to be "brand loyal" I would buy a Ram 100% of the time.

    • Are you using a weight distribution hitch system with your trailer as that alone can change the actual tire pressure requirements needed. It would prove interesting to see what the actual individual axle weights are on your truck when you are hooked up to the trailer. In fact when your hooked to the trailer, typically if anything unless it has a large capacity weight distribution system that is over cranked, often the weight on the front axle will be less when hooked up vs driving empty and certainly if one doesn't have a weight distribution hitch. Really the only times one may get up there with weight on the steer axle is if there was a snow plow mounted on the front or a motorcycle on a rack or with a very large jockey tank full of fuel at the front of the box that transfers a bit of its weight to the front axle.    And of course your tires carry more weight for a given tire pressure due to their size vs a stock sized tire so there is that to take into the equation as well. 
    • Great info here thank you. I just joined, we have a 2014 Silverado truck we bought about 4 years ago with less than 5,000 miles on it. It has approximately 24,000 on it now. It appears to have all the standard issues that people are talking about. Occasional charging problems especially using 110 volt, occasional blinking triangle where nothing will turn on when first starting the truck but it will reset itself if you wait 10 to 15 minutes. Noisy coupler between the flywheel and the generator. Our truck is speed limited to 74 mph, is there any way to change that? The latest issue we have been dealing with is when driving long distance on the highway at full speed the generator does not keep the batteries charged. The meter will go into the yellow/red border Zone for charge status and the yellow triangle will illuminate solid but the generator will not keep the battery charged, not sure why the controller doesn't tell the gas engine to increase RPM to increase generator output it usually stays well below 25 kilowatts even though the battery is discharging and I have to slow down the highway to 45 mph and eventually pull over and let the truck idle to charge the battery so I can continue driving at speed. Has anyone had this issue before or have any idea how to diagnosed it? When via Motors was around it they were very helpful at troubleshooting. This becomes much if the Terrain is hilly and you're towing a small trailer
    • I have the GMC accessory (REV) cover installed by dealer. Ordered with the truck.  They did a very good install job, can't find a single issue. Some water gets in around the tailgate but no where else.  You can see daylight around the tailgate but that's not the covers fault.  Installation is means everything. Guys at my dealer were seasoned pros, not inexperienced here today good tomorrow types, like many dealers employ for these jobs.   I don't mind paying for a professional job.    
    • Like others have said, they will all leak. Mainly at the corners.   I have owned several and the best has been my current one. Revolver x4
    • About 8 months after an alignment job by the dealer I started experiencing a pretty significant clunk in the front end on hard left hand turns usually parking lot speeds almost at lock.  Occasionally get the same on hard rights too.   Discovered that the lower control arm attachment bolts are TTY and only to be used for a single use. And then I found some evidence of a TSB that indicates you can over torque those fasteners to about 130 foot pounds.   Asked a local shop to investigate and they found 3 out of four bolts loose and retorqued.   I've ordered the MOOG    K100421 lower control arm bolt kit that is completely reusable and not TTY.    Is the 80 ft pounds a realistic number?  Anyone have experience with those bolts?
