Same here I really like the truck except for the radio and XM.

My AM reception crackles like its a blown speaker. This is how I feel about my 2014 GMC :banghead:

I AM NOT ENJOYING THE HELL OUT OF IT

My 2005 Sierra speakers were 10x better than these. I listen to AM radio 90% of the time and I get Pi%&*D everytime I turn it on. THIS IS NOTRIGHT!! My $20.00 alarm clock radio gets a better A.M reception and doesnt crackle.

The GM Service manager at my dealership is very aware of the issue. ALL SLT trucks with the Bose radio have that crackle. The SLE trucks sound just fine. (I drove in 2 different loaner SLE trucks while they were trying to figure out my issue with the AM radio.) I'm tempted to tell them I want the SLE front speakers, but dang it, I paid for BOSE!

You are right about that. My SLE the radio works good on AM, FM AND XM. However, HD RADIO IS TERRIBLE. At least my truck is paid off.

UPDATE...

Got a email today from the engineer, they got several software updates to try out. Some worked good in the lab but once out in the field did not perform as well as the engineers would have liked. Said they got a couple more updates and are testing them now, one of the updates is showing promise.

Hopefully we will have something soon.

I don't hold very much hope for software to fix more likely a hardware issue.

They are just trying to find what is called an acceptable repair in my opinion.

There will be a different part number with the fixes inside the infotainment unit in time, but most of us will not be so fortunate though.

just my opinion!

They have already put a new hardware piece (different part # than stock) in place and it didn't fix the issue, the vendor has confirmed it is a software issue in how the radio tunes in the stations and deals with overlapping signals.\

To be honest I don't care how it's fixed, as long as the stations come in clear and I don't lose signal strength I am ok with how ever they fix it.

I have a FCC license for radio repair and operation.

I work on Blackhawks and Chinooks for the Army.

I will tell you that FM radio reception is line of sight. I have not yet looked into the location of the reception antenna on my new Silverado and this is my first SIlverado.

Based on what I am reading, the reception has diminished with this model year. The problem is possibly related to the "detuning" that was mentioned above but not likely that GM would actually sabotage their own equipment. It is more likely related to poor location of the antenna, a batch of bad antennas, bad bonding of the antenna to the frame or possibly interference of reception bleeding over into other truck internal gadgets and features. If I decide to pinpoint and troubleshoot this issue, I would first look at how the antenna is bonded to the truck and then how the other electronics interface with the radio.

My 6/13 built SLE also has these HD/ poor FM reception issues. I can live with it for now but look forward to a repair. TJay74 I appreciate your efforts and updates. Other than the loose seat and radio I am happy with the Truck.

Had my truck in the dealer on Friday. Service manager tried to explain the raidio reception was the HD cutting in and out. I stopped him mid sentence and told him the reception is llike a car from the 70's.

He was receptive to checking into it further. said never heard of this complaint before. between the radio and the seat moving it is like they cant be bothered

I am having the same issue LTZ Built 2/14 I was in the dealer parking lot smack in the middle of downtown Houston doing the welcome aboard brief adjusting mirrors and settings and noticed it. My HF tuning I'd turned off on the radio so it could not of been that. My 13 I had just traded in did not have an issue.
