I was worried, I though I was going to have to quit going to Wallmart.

LOL... That is funny right there... but I couldn't think of a better analogy than that.

A good friend had a diablew tune done and the low end throttle response and shifting points feel so much better. It doesn't even feel like the same truck. Going from the diablo canned tune 87 octane to the custom 87 octane was night and day difference.

I'm trying to figure out which one I want. I like the screen on the Bullydog while the Diablo Intune is almost the same price. Thoughts?

Most people on here po po hand held, but I have used Diablo and Hypertec myself. I use them mostly to raised shift points, gear change, RPM, top speed. and their tune. I like the idea I could easily go back to stock if I needed too. Diablo let you mess a little more if you dare and knew what you where doing. I never had a problem with warranty work because of a tune, it seems now thou that may be an issue. There are lots good threads on this I would read them you may decide to go a different direction.

IMO, neither....Go with BlackBear Performance! Let Justin turn your truck into a BEAST!

I like the ability to return to stock if I need to. I'm leaning towards the diablo Intune but they got a bad review from someone with a 14 silverado on Amazon and that is throwing me off..

Good experience with diablew intune on a 2014 Silverado. Both engine and shift points. Canned tunein the intune was fair but custom by diablew was much better.

If you get a BlackBear tune with the AutoCal you can go back to stock at any point. Your ECM and TCM tune along with your stock tune are stored on the AutoCal.

Anyone running the Intune on a 2014 5.3?

If so, have tried the economy tune and notice if DOD is engaged longer on the hwy? MPG improve? I wish they had a tune for E85, since our maps are pretty aggresive for that fuel.

Ended up ordering the diablo. I liked how you can program the throttle response which is really slow on the stock tune. Should have it in a couple of days. Can't wait!

Custom custom custom!!!!! Let a tuner tune it while driving it!! Every truck is different!! Custom custom custom!!! Going back to stock will profit you nothing nowadays. You tune it your gonna get busted. Get a tune done for your truck only not one that will work in 50000 trucks as a flash program. Its worth the extra money and alotta times cheaper than a handheld. If custom isnt an option then .............im truly sorry!! Aint.no tune like your own personal tune!

I'm in Alaska and custom tunes are out of my reach. That is why I want the ability to put it back to stock for dealer visits, and the lifetime oil changes where the dealer might update the program without me knowing. I am hoping the diablo is worth the hype. My girlfriend has an Edge controller on her 2013 Silverado with the dashpod and it is slick and the truck has great throttle response. Hopefully the diablo has good results too

As of right now, I'm not a diablo fan but I heard Lew is a very capable tuner who can give you a custom tune remotely (talk to him about details). It would be a good tune for a basically stock truck / bolt ons. He works for Diablo and sends you a custom tune to put in you Diablo can.

He trolls this board as Monte06SS or 06MonteSs, something like that. He will make you a good deal if you buy the tuner and his custom tune as a package and they are sight supporting vendors which is second best to local support.

Just curious so no throwing rocks please, how much HP gains on a stock engine are we talking about from hand held and custom tune. I would buy them mainly for firmer shifts, higher shift points, gear changing, higher top speed. I couldn't imagine more than 20 HP in a stock engine.

    • We have now!  2027 GMC Sierra  Early look, but I'm a GMC guy and so far I think I like the looks of the Chevy better.
    • HD at the moment, are kinda their own deal.  How LTZ sells on those vs on 1500, there is a difference.   They are merging most of the mid trims on 1500.  LT, RST and LTZ are replaced by one trim, Silverado.  LT and RST are a BIG portion of sales.    Bad naming choice aside, the new Silverado trim will offer the spread of options that those three trims offered.  So expect to see things like the tech package for example, and memory seats.  And LT Trail Boss will now just be "Trail Boss" (formerly LT Trail Boss) but will offer content spread like the new Silverado trim will.  The press photos showed the Trail Boss (formerly LT Trail Boss) has access to Super Cruise now, which on the current truck was High Country only.       Here is the Trail Boss interior.  Memory seats and Super Cruise are present.  All things the LT Trail Boss it replaces, and the RST it was based on didn't get on the current gen.  You had to go to LTZ or ZR2 for memory seats, and High Country for Super Cruise.
    • I installed a Hellwig rear sway bar on my 21 Sierra SLT, it made a huge difference on how the truck handles, no body roll, the trucks much more planted now. Not sure of the suspension differences between the 21 and 26,  if its body roll your having a sway bar will solve it.
    • So a follow up and my fix. I found in online searches the live data to look at on a scan tool to verify the fuel tank pressure sensor was working.  It showed an spec number towards the lower end of the rang, but in spec.  Then while it was running opened the gas cap and the pressure should change.  It didn't change even a tiny bit.  The data for the purge valve said it was open...never changed. So then I measured the voltages on the plug for the fuel pressure sensor and they matched what it should be.  So local car quest parts had the sensor in stock...it was a bit of a pain to remove and an even bigger one to get it to actually go back in.  It helped to unbolt the driveshaft and bungie cord away from the gas tank to give a bit more room to work. So fuel tank pressure sensor in I cleared the code, and started it up.  I went to the scan tool's live data and... Eureka! The pressure number was different and fluctuated a bit.  So took it on a short drive and pressure number varied saw the purge valve go from closed to open and back to closed.  Drove it to and from work for roughly a week plugged in the scan tool no codes.  I took it in to get tested and passed.  In my state's infinite wisdom (oops meant greed), since I pushed the test with the maximum extensions I have to take it back in by Feb '27 to 'get it back up to date', then my next test won't be until Feb '29.
