Marv88 2016 Silverado LS Regular Cab 5.3L

I’m a little jealous I just rolled over 50k!! It had 21k on it when I got it March of 2017 but it is my daily driver

Been driving a lot more highway lately but avg mpg only went up to a whopping 12.3 (dealership says they can't check anything unless a code comes up but I still think something is out of whack based on what some of you get in the same truck with similar driving habits). Gas  prices also went up again so that 1 mpg gain didn't save me a thing!

You have the 5.3? And how much is the gas around you?

Yes 5.3 and I paid $4.03 for 91 octane.

Are you tuned to run 91? I read somewhere unless you're tuned to run 91 it's a waste to pump anything over 87.

No tune and I heard something similar to that as well but the truck idled really rough on 87 as well as 89 but smoothed out and got more responsive on 91.

I'm still wondering why you only get 12.3. I get around 18 or so but is like to drive fast lol

Yeah I am wondering the same thing and find it hard to believe the dealership can't check anything without a code popping up.

I think @Nasty gets almost 16 with mostly highway (edit: mostly city) and I believe @qwank said he gets better than that (both 5.3 regular cabs)

Yup, I actually checked yesterday and my lifetime average is 18.1.

5.3 with 3.42s

Do you think my 3:08's with oversized 22's (I went up to 305/45) would make that much difference?

I would think it would be be around 18 still with the higher rear gearing.

I have a heavy foot and 29" tires.  So i mess around a lot. But i get about16-17 city at 25-27 freeway keep in mind i dont have afm anymore
