2020 2500 Duramax. Is anyone else having problems with their trailer lights? I’m having problems with the lights on all but one of my three trailers. Left turn signal and brake is not working. Took it to the dealer and they gave me some bs about how the truck can’t run led lights or more than 10 amps and blew me off. So essentially my brand new truck I bought for towing can’t tow a trailer with more than two tail lights. One of the two it isn’t working on is led and one is not and it runs the led lights just fine, just not the left turn or brake on both.

I would think that if it works on one of your 3 trailers it's probably not the truck. I would double check all the connections and lights on the affected trailers just to make sure everything is good there. I would second guess most of the info I get from the tech's, they have led me astray before, just saying. Maybe you could hook one of your other trailers up to a friend's truck to see if the lights work, just a few suggestions.

it's hard to say that anymore, as new trucks try to get cute and sense if lights are out, so the truck could be doing something wonky because the trailer lights draw too much/little power from what the truck wants.

I’ve hooked up a couple other trucks to the trailers and they work totally fine. It’s going back to the dealership this Thursday and I’m not taking it back till I can tow a trailer.

Sounds like a plan, if you have exhausted all other avenues that's all that is left, good luck.

Noticed the same thing on my 2020. I have an adapter (7 round to flat 4) with the led status lights in it. When plugged into either the bumper or bed receptacle the led for the turn signals flash continuously. I don’t have a trailer with a flat 4 plug to verify but it appears the truck is looking for a signal from those before it will energize the park/running light plug. I installed a led bed light on the underside of the BAK Mx4 that has a 2 prong plug thinking i could use the in bed receptacle to power it but the park/run pin is dead.

Truck is looking for a load before energizing the circuit.

i went thru this installing a tailgate light bar, had to tap the actual tail lights to power the light bar.

i'm betting a correctly placed resistor is what is needed.

when plugging a trailer into the truck it takes 20 seconds or so before the trailer lights actually come on

I have a 2020 2500HD AT4 and so far the lights on my boat trailer are working they way they should.  I don't think I'm much help to fix your problem but I did find this info https://techlink.mynetworkcontent.com/?p=11176. The lights were pulsing when the truck was off which appears to be normal.

But now I have a sled deck in the bed of the truck for hauling snowmobiles and it uses a 4 pole connector for running tail lights, running lights, signals, and brake lights.  But all those lights will do is pulse when the truck is on and when the truck is off.  Anyone have an idea how to get the 4 pole connector in the bed of the truck working the accessory lights correctly?

Also have a 2020 AT4 and Marlon Xplore Pro II sled deck with the rear light bar... Hoping we can come up with a fix before snow flies...

Did any of you try "add accessory" thru your trailer app?  It's in your trailer profile section of the app.

I did, no love for the 2 prong light connector on the 4 way in the bed.

I doubt it is the fuse, but something in that trailer lighting wire circuit because the trailer left turn signal and trailer brake lights use the same fuse #73.

My 2020 Denali 3500 flashes the trailer lights every couple of minutes. The trailer lights seem to work as normal when driving and using the trailer. However, once parked overnight or even for a few minutes, the trailer lights flash quickly and momentarily. A quick flash of the rear trailer lights (only tail lights, not cargo lights) every couple of minutes.

My trailer lights flash also but much more frequently!  Two different trailers and both do it - just a very quick flash when they are hooked up and truck is off.

Had my at dealer this week, for this and a couple other small issues.

Said to be normal operation.

I'm in the same situation. New marlon deck connected in bed via 4 pin. When I apply brakes or turn signal it disconnects to truck then works fine when I dont touch brakes or turn signal.

    • I’ve own several successful businesses. I’ve bought homes and lived in different states. I’d witness several generations buy homes and survive in different economic circumstances. You get awful sippy when people have different experiences than you do. You live a life. I’ve lived a life. It seems our experience has been different. You can point out generalized statistics. Some people learn how to thrive when the odds are against them. Living in different states does make a difference in a persons quality of life and economic outcomes and opportunities. That’s a fact Jack. It’s my truth, my life. Hard work and long hours the right environment made my families life easier. And yes moving to a different state increased the odds of that happening. Stats are generalized. People who thrive don’t make excuses. They beat the odds. Others get mad and point to those statistics. I guess that’s you. My post pointed out how you helped people beat the odds. Somehow your panties got in a wad. Go figure.
    • Good question, I don't remember for sure but I believe it was the HD. I will check and get back to you.
    • Point of the post sir was that while both wages and cost are rising EVERYWHERE; the cost is rising faster EVERYWHERE than the ability to buy EVERYWHERE. • Probably a one and done post, but do you have a CEL on the dash? Was having issues with my transmission, fortunately only a week, and it turned out to be the transmission harness. Valve body was in good shape, so new harness with all the sensors attached, new fluid, and filter. Seems to have worked so far?
    • Two interesting tidbits of information which are NOT related were just released.   One, regarding the possible thrust bearing issues / engine failures with the 3.0. Demonworks just did a segment in which they believe they may have found "a" or "the" cause of thrust bearing failures: A missing thrust bearing. If the engine doesn't have all its thrust bearings from the factory, the missing bearing can cause extra play which ends up destroying a nearby thrust bearing which then sends metal through the engine.       Of other importance, Lake Speed Jr released some interest information regarding oil weight selection for the 3.0. Comparisons of:   AcDelco 0w20 Dexos D Mobil 1 ESP x2 0w20 Dexos D Mobil 1 ESP x2 0w30 Mobil 1 ESP x4 0w40. Mobil Delvac 5w40   Spoiler alert: The Mobils are PAO Ester -base and the ACDelco is a Group III base. Mobil shows lower wear in their tests for similar weights. Additive packages between 20-30-40 weight ESP's appear to be the same, but only 0w20 is Dexos D licensed. Wear is even more reduced with 30 and 40 weight ESP although all perform very well and resist shear and provide very similar viscosities within temperature operating ranges in the 3.0.   There are even more surprises, so just go watch it.
