People are forgetting too there's multiple sources of the vibration. For some it's the tires. For some it's rear end powertrain assembly. And for some it's undetermined. 2 out of the 3 sources are correctable.

Did you ever buy new tires for any of these trucks?

No. I don't really think that would be the cause since some guys on here have better and nicer wheels and tires than me. Also at 70 mph and above it is pretty smooth. Most vibes come in around 35 to 50 mph and , it will be running smooth until , say for instance, like when exiting the high way and you let of the throttle. you get a pretty good "shutter". I know it has nothing to do with the V4 because it does it in M5 also. Then theres the "rumble strip" feel at any speed under 55 mph. I keep waiting for someone to say "HEY I FOUND OUT WHAT IT IS !" and go for there. But as of now Im not about to throw even more money at this thing. I may try to get the dealer to try a different set if that would fix it I would buy 'em.

I 'kinda feel like this LOL

Gotcha yeah based on those attributes that doesn't sound like it's the tires at all. And all 3 trucks did this?

I am anticipating my dealer relaying an offer from the district manager of sales in my area, which will be a MY15 Silverado in exchange for the MY14 vibrator I currently have.

What percentage of MY15s vibrate, or are they all good? Has anything changed between MY14-15?

Also, do build dates have any effect on whether a truck is likely to be a vibrator, or not?

If anyone that exchanged for a MY15 could let me know how things went for them, i'd appreciate it.

I bought my 2014 crew cab Silverado in September. I took it in within 3 weeks of purchase for a high speed vibration. My truck was just returned to me this week. Yes, you are reading correctly. 2 plus months in the shop. My truck had everything you can think of swapped out. a

All of the normal things including force balance tires, driveshafts, axles, etc. it appears to be much better after the three days I have driven it.

My major complaint has been the fact that I had to drive a Double Cab with an inferior interior including a 6 cylinder engine for half my repair.

I complained non stop to GM with no recourse. The only time I got satisfaction was when the dealer sold that truck and made me bring it back in for another truck. I was then given a crew cab truck. My complaint this time was the fact that my loaner came without a trailer hitch. I continued paying my $630/month this entire time. I had to borrow vehicles to get my boat out of the lake because I did not have a truck with a hitch. I had to borrow a truck to go on vacation as my family did not fit in a double cab. That's why I bought a crew cab!!!

Now GM wants to give me full credit for my MSRP toward a 2015. Unfortunately for me, I am expected to pay any difference for the increases on a 2015. I have repeatedly asked for a slight upgrade on my package to include bucket seats and a Bose stereo. I felt that was the least that GM could do. GM has told me to pound sand. I already had a leather interior All Star pkg in my previous truck. I guess this request on my behalf was unreasonable. I have been paying for much more truck than I have been driving for 3 months. As a matter of fact I have driven my truck for 3 weeks of my life and made 3 months of $630 payments, all the while driving a less than desirable loaner. What a crock of shit. Still arguing with GM on my replacement vehicle. I work with two other guys who have 2014 in same scenario in Northern Metro Detroit. This is my 15th GM new truck since 1994 .

Hey Kevin, just wondering what dealership you bought your truck from? I also live in Metro Detroit, and got mine from Wally Edgar.

OK, icon_rolleyes.gif

So today is 01/19/2015 the info they requested was there on 01/05/2015
as requested !

Today I called just to find out after spending more then 10min on hold
then that I'd be called back in 5min that was in reality more then an hour
that I'd have 'THEIR' proposal in an E-Mail in an hour icon_scratch.png

I do have other things to do, so after four hours I checked my E-Mail
and NOTHING from GM icon_mad.gif

Call them just to find out that my case has to go to another level
not exactly what I was told this morning icon_mad.gif

GM HAS DRAWN FIRST BLOOD !

Until now I've allowed them to go through their procedure's and given them everything
they have asked for on 01/05/2015 ! So with today's events GM has made it very clear
to me that my 30k + I have in MY 2014 K-1500 I purchased in good faith that they have
acknowledged is beyond any repair is clearly NOT A PRIORITY to them. It's a fairly
easy case as I have A LIEN FREE & CLEAR TITLE and yet they have chosen to purposely
insult my intelligence by their excuses and lack of accountability icon_jokercolor.png

^^ A lemon law buyback demand letter from an attorney and a complaint filed with BBB will get GMs attention. Otherwise, they know they can dick you around as long as they want.

Im speaking from experience.

Hey Guys,

I had the truck in auto 4wd today in a little bit of snow and noticed my 45-55mph vibration was no longer noticeable. It has improved sense I installed the new LT tires but still have the 45-55 mph vibration. it is most noticeable when im slowing down. Anyone think it might be a front axle issue? Just a thought

My 14 silvy just hit 1500 miles and my goofy acting trans has cleared up mostly but it does vibrate. My vibration shows no pattern it may do it when I let off the gas or at cruise you never know when it will do it. It does it in v8 and v4 mode the truck feels like its hitting rumble strips as some have stated. Though on mine it's not really not what I would call a horrible vibration more a minor annoyance like worn out rumble strips. It does remind me of a 51 Chevy 5 window I had that shucked the pinion. It also started out as the occasional rumble strip feel but what really happened was the pinion nut backed out just slightly. This allowed it to walk when there wasn't a load on it creating a vibe. Has anyone had theirs checked for this. My intial thought was auto lock diff chatter but since I'm getting no noise along with it I might have them check the nut.

why not just use GM own press release that 80% of new truck owners are completely satisfied? that means 2 out of 10 or 1 out of every 5 are not satisfied.

as soon as you mention this fact to the "deniers" on this forum, they stop posting because they cant deny thart GM itself admits only 4 out of every 5 trucks works properly.

these numbers get even more slanted as people who do go buy a new GM truck are watching out for the vibrators when they go buy a truck so the ones remaining on the dealer lots are the ones rejected and passed over and these dealers are shuffling them around hoping someone isn't paying attention so they can defraud them into buying a defective truck.

at this point in time if there are any 2014 trucks still left on the lot, I bet its more like 4 out of 5 if not all 5 are vibrators

We were discussing vibration problems only. The other 10% is other issues like bad seats, radio problems, starting problems, bad paint, etc.

I've owned my 2014 Silverado Double Cab 4x4 Z71 5.3 build date 7/14 for a month now and currently has about 1500 miles on it. I too seem to have the 73mph vibration. But I think mine is not that bad and I don't notice it that much, possibly masked by the large LT285/70R17 tires I've had installed since driving it off the dealer lot, but it is definitely there at around 73mph. A little more noticeable at that speed when you are going uphill. I can feel the vibration in the seat, the petal, and the center of the steering wheel. I haven't really noticed it at lower speeds. My 2005 I traded in with the exact same tires did not do this. I tend to not drive over about 65 so I dont encounter it much. Odd vibration though, I can vary my speed a little and it changes slightly or lessons in intensity. With not a lot of luck by most in here having their dealership or GM finding a resolution I'm not even going to bother asking my dealership to look into it. If it gets worse maybe. I did ask them and about it and the service guys just shook his head like he knew what I was talking about but hesitated to say anything. I'm sure he was probably hoping to avoid me asking them to fix it. Drove past the Ford dealer next door to it and noticed a line of new Chevy and GMC's sitting on their lot. I've not had any other issues with the truck other than the onstar remotelink app not displaying the remote start feature. Otherwise I really like the new truck. I hope you guys with the worse vibration and shaking issues get it resolved. I'm keeping any eye on this thread.

I was just thinking a common denominator on all these trucks is the new vibration isolating cab mounts. I wonder if they are not performing as designed and causing more , not less, vibration to be transmitted to the cab? anybody play with this or heard of any techs investigating it?

WELL........

I thought I got lucky, however now with 1,000 miles my truck has developed the "shake". It is silky smooth up to about 72 mph and then bam it starts shaking. It seems to be worse some times more than others but it is the worst around 74-77 mph. It seems to get worse the faster I go all the way up through 80 mph.

I have been around tires and trucks for a long time having grown up in an auto repair shop. To me the issue feels like a tire issue. The reason I say that is because i can also feel a shimmy in the steering wheel as wheel as an overall shake in the truck. I trued and balanced my Goodyear SRAs but still noticed a slight hop on the balance machine.

Going to the dealer tomorrow morning to see what they can do for me. They mentioned that they have had this issue on a few of the trucks so it makes me somewhat optimistic about this.

I can promise you one thing, there is NO way this shake can be considered "normal operation"

    • Hello hello looking forward to expanding my knowledge of the 2026 2500 HD that I just bought.   Truck has 3500 miles on it four-wheel-drive crew cab and I’m about to put a 6 1/2 inch BDS lift on it 18 x 10 -25 offset with 37’s   Already have the wheels and tires just waiting on the lift install in about three weeks   Question what surprises am I not gonna be happy with?  I’m not new to lifted trucks so I know that acceleration towing gas mileage all that is affected..   Question is those of you that have this truck this powertrain with a 10 speed Allison and have done the mods that I’m doing,,, how bad is it? Is that Allison constantly gonna be hunting for the right gear to go into? And what about towing, acceleration, fuel consumption as mentioned?    Lastly how come I can’t find any ring pinion gear set up for these axles and when could I expect to see them?   I apologize if there’s any typos I’m doing speech to text on my iPhone.
    • I've got a 2013 2500 6.0L Flexfuel. Drove the truck earlier today with no issues. Went to run an errand tonight and noticed key fob wouldn't work. Figured battery was dead, so replaced fob batter. Still wasn't working. Grabbed my other set of keys with the other fob and that one wasn't working either. So I manually unlock truck and insert key. Interior lights come on, dashboard lights up, turn key and truck starts. Turn truck off, like a moron, and try starting again. This time no crank, no click, no nothing. Lights still come on and dash lights up, but now I'm getting a service 4wheel drive, service tire monitor, etc. Check voltage on battery and Im showing 12.2v. Throw my battery charger on it and give it 15 mins and try starting again. But still no crank no start. Decide maybe its a bad battery, run to autozone grab a new one and put it in. Same issue. Disconnect battery and let it sit for 15 mins. Try again and still nothing. I had managed to roll the windows down earlier as its a humid night, but now I can't get them to roll up. Power locks are also not working now. Then randomly I try the key again, and it fires right up. Immediately I roll up the windows as we have nothing but rain forecast this week. I shut it back off wait 30 seconds and start up again. Worked a 2nd time. So turn it off, start putting things back together. Try one more time, and back to no crank no start. And now the car alarm starts going off. Had to disconnect battery and leave it that way for the night as I don't think my neighbors would appreciate my alarm going off again tonight. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

    • Hi there.  Long time lurker, first post.    i have read the previous posts regarding the water ingress problem with this emblem.  I bought my 1500 SLT the  summer of 2025 new and after reading the MANY problems with these emblems failing I decided to install one anyways.  As per a YouTube video, I sealed ( or tried to) this sign with silicone sealant around the outer perimeter joint and the holes that were already somewhat sealed on the rear plate of the emblem.  And installed the connector assembly using dielectric grease on the connectors. The installation looked great and worked well for about 4 months……then FAILURE.  Grrrrrr…… I live in the great white north and wash my truck weekly in an automatic car wash  to keep the salt off.  Let me tell you that removing the old, failed emblem is a whole different animal than removing the OEM individual letters without removing the grill assembly. Mainly because the illuminated logo is built differently than the original letters which  you can remove the red surface lettering with a knife or some kind of blade which gives access to the tabs which hold the logo onto the grill. So I had to essentially destroyed the old emblem to remove it. Doing so killed my chance of doing somekind of autopsy on the failed , old logo.  But there was plenty of water inside when I ripped it apart.  Prior to installing the new assembly I tried it with the old harness and it works fine.   Does anyone have any insight as to where the water is getting into this emblem? I intend to seal the new logo with slow curing epoxy this time around using a syringe.  I think this newer emblem may be an updated unit which I hope GM got the vendor to fix. It has an October 2025 date on it.    If this one  fails,  I am just going to revert back to the non-illuminated letters….AFTER PULLING THE GRILL.    Any thoughts on sealing with epoxy would be appreciated. Thx!   Doug
