Wish I could have gotten one like that, I'd actually just like to take a ride in one that doesn't vibrate just to know that they exist. Not that I don't believe you, after all I read your post on the internet so it must be true.

My first couldn't be fixed either. I'm sorry you've had such a bad experience.

Me and 2 other guys have k2xx trucks here at work. 2 15's and a 14 all crew cabs 2) 4wd 1) 2wd. Mine vibrates the other 2 are smooth I have driven and ridden in all 3 on the same strech of highway. So I guess I'll make a statistical conclusion with poor sample data, zero control over numerous variables and no base line reference like everyone else. FACT: 33.333% off all GM k2XX platform trucks vibrate.

I know 3 is a small sample size but what, if any, differences are there in configuration of the three ? All Z71 ? Or all CC ? All 4x4 ?

I have mentioned this before, but as far as I know, nobody has followed up on it, so maybe it is time to mention it again.

There is a radio show out of Denver Colorado, called the Tom Martino Troubleshooter show. Tom is a consumer advocate that loves to hear about things like this. In fact, on Fridays his show is more focused on car problems. One of his experts that he frequently has on these shows is the owner of a Chevy dealer in Denver. He also has a couple other automotive experts.

The radio station is KHOW 630 AM. You can listen to his podcasts of past shows by going to the www.khow.com.

If someone anywhere in the greater Denver area (or maybe in any of the surrounding states) with this problem can contact him (email "[email protected]") or 303-627-8466 and explain their story, as well as all the issues and forum posts, you might be able to get greater visibility.

I would, but I am in California, and don't have the problem.

It won't go anywhere.. I have listened to Tom's show off and on for many many years. He won't get anywhere with this issue just like he is not able to get anywhere with quite a few other issues out there. Tom has lost the nack of being a good consumer advocate, he's had a lot of personal problems in his life as well. I'm not trying to insult the man, but I lost all respect for him when he assaulted his 2nd wife (now ex) His show used to be nationally syndicated and was in multiple markets, however a lot of things went wrong with his organization. Some tough lessons for him to learn. With you thinking that his friend Rolly Purifoy with Purifoy Chevrolet in Ft. Lupton, CO would have any pull with GM, well, sorry to disappoint you, but it wouldn't go anywhere. Rolly is a good man, and he has a nice small town dealership, and a good staff, but they are as powerless to do anything about the issue as any other dealership out there, all they can do is the recommended stuff that GM Tech tells them to do and if they put up too big of a fuss, GM will simply shut em down.

The Shake/Vibe issue has made a few small/less important tech magazines but none of the major networks/big media guns (talking national not local, like Martino) seem all that interested in this. Unless it is a recall issue, it won't get much attention. That's just the way it works.

I was reading an article the other day regarding GM is planning on downsizing the Silverado assembly factory in Mexico. The article said they would be moving some manufacturing back to the US. I find this interesting as you would think the cost of labor is less in Mexico?

Perhaps GM is having some quality control issues with manufacturing in Mexico. Guess what? My Shakerado was assembled in Mexico. Hmmm! Oh, did you read about Silverado's sales were down and Fords were up! Perhaps GM is waking up? Seems like it, they are certainly hammering ford in their advertising of late.

As was my Smootherado :-)

I am looking at buying a 2016 Sierra and this has me worried. I can get a really nice SLT for much less than a comparable Ford right now because of July 4th sale. Does everyone have this damn issue? Should I just stick with Ford's? Maybe and Ecodiesel from Ram? I had problems with my 2010 F150, now having problems with my F250.............Toyota?

Anyways, not to rant, but seriously, how wide spread is the vibration issue? Is there even a correct answer? I know I read the report of SUV's making people car sick. Related?

There is no definite percentage because GM doesn't want to compile statistics as they don't see it as an issue

jtruck618- The Tundra is a big older truck with terrible MPG. Plus I think they are grossly large. It really comes down to the shakerado or a F150 IMO. My Aug 2014 Mexico built truck shakes on the why, a little. compare to what I've seen on you tube mine is great.

I'm getting 16.1 MPG around town and my friend is getting 16.5 MPG in his new F150 ecoboost. And there is almost no size difference between any of them, the only difference is the GM trucks are about 2 inches shorter.

12 months ago I traded in my 2014 V6 Sierra for a Tundra after the dealer couldn't sort out the vibrations

The Tundra is as sofisticated as the Sierra

BUT doesn't vibrate

I'm getting 15 MPG in town with the AC on all the time .

Yea I miss the GMC but very happy with the Tundra .

Ive been following this blog hopping to hear of a fix to the problem .

But GM sales are only a little down from Ford so don't think that

GM is going to do any major changes to this series of trucks .

Im sure they know the problem . its just to expensive to admit and repair .

Either the tire/wheel assemblies have excessive radial force variation, the rear driveshaft (propshaft) is out of balance or the right side engine mount needs to be shimmed 3 mm. Those are the only vibration issues that I have seen with a K2XX truck.

After waiting several years to finally go and get my new 2015 Silverado, I noticed a shimmy at 65-75 MPH...I logged on to this forum against my better judgement and listened to a list of symptoms and solutions to F#*&^ing ridiculous claims...I have to agree with ChevyTech77...this f*&^%ing forum had me totally convinced my truck was junk until I went to the dealer and demanded they balance my tires for the second time. That was 8000 miles ago and I travel 85 miles a day to work and it's as smooth as glass...2015 Silverado 4Dr 4x4 LT with 18inch tires.

My advice: go to a mechanic or dealer that listens and stop using these sites...I had stomach pains a few years back and went on WebMD and was convinced I had ovarian cancer...and I'm a guy !!!...GO TO A MECHANIC (or DOCTOR and stop self treating or diagnosing)...GOOD LUCK all and CHEVY Trucks are the best

Another update: I got my truck back this past Thursday. When the driver dropped it off he told me he had it up to 85mph and it was smooth.

I THINK ITS FIXED!!! I waited until today to post as I wanted to drive it several times. The dealer replaced my ring and pinion {rear end} and then put on new tires and wheels. I drove it several times on the interstate, max speed of 83mph and it was smooth. My 14 year old said "wow this is what is should feel like. Very excited right now and hope it doesn't return. Only issue now is they put black wall tires on and I like white letter. They are going to correct it this week.

I don't want to publish the name on my dealer on here but if anyone else's dealer is unable to fix their truck I will be glad to give you the name of my dealer and the service managers name so your dealer can, if they wish too, contact them. Want to help others hopefully get their trucks fixed. If I can be of any assistance please let me know.

    • Length/amount of data capture will be important to consider, sifting through 5 minutes of a data log can be enormous when it is stored in milliseconds. Being able to find the 'event' let alone decipher it.   Presumably the driver would notice something and hit a button to capture the 'window' of data. That window has to be large enough for the operator to recognize the event and react accordingly.    The data has to be able to be retrieved easily.   The data has to be able to be understood. Which is the biggest challenge, dealer techs won't even know what most of it is and would likely not even look at it if an owner brought it to them. Meaning the owner, the least educated/qualified, trying to understand it.    How will the data be presented? Could specific PIDs be selected and a timelapse graph be watched? How will a specific value be noted as abnormal? Additionally, a good data logger would be able to 'learn' normal values for a specific vehicle and flag abnormalities automatically. It could in theory watch parameters degrade over time and suggest maintenance as needed. (If the MAF reading begins tapering off for a given set of other readings - MAP, throttle position, Ambient, etc.. a flag to check air filter.) With the amount of data available, a device (really the vehicle rather than an additional accessory) should be able to do more than issue a DTC. It should be able to run the full diagnostic suite automatically and present a solution rather than a code. (It's not the 90's anymore). The technology is available for the vehicle to not just say "P0087", it should know low fuel pressure, check other PIDs to narrow down the problem itself, and determine if it is a lift pump, high pressure pump, regulator, leak in the fuel line, clogged filter, etc. Even if it can't narrow it down, it should be able to guide the user to the likely problems.   This would be a major problem for dealer service departments, which are the manufacturers customers it is in their collective best interest to NOT have this available to the consumer.   Further, if the owner is going to be the primary consumer of the data, it's got to be at a consumer price point vs. dealer only specialty tool price.   This group is more 'involved' in their vehicle than general public/consumer and will have knowledge, experience, needs and desires that are quite different from the market at large.
    • I put the prof up. If you read what I posted. You can see that housing, cars and income are in line with the era we were talking about. It’s harder in some places easier in others. Let’s agree to disagree and put this back on track, OK? We both are pretty stubborn and hard headed. But I bring receipts. If you wish I will not respond to you in the future.
    • Lets see if I can sum up two pages of nothing useful.    You want to refute your own governments data of the "Purchasing Power" Index FOR THE ENTIRE USA and its territories replacing it with the experience of a single family and its business and label that reality?  Then pound on that for a week hoping it will find traction?    Stan, I've told you several times. I don't do irrational. There are more people in the USA than your family.    I'm pretty sure this tread is so blown up. I'll give you a few days or months if need be to post yourself silent then I'll see if I can find enough parts of the train to reassemble it.
    • Facebook groups hate VSE, poor customer service; their responses to criticisms are pretty poor for a reputable company. I'm not a customer, haven't bought anything from them, but how they handle themselves on social media is a definite "No" for me.
    • $10,000 for a transmission?   Pretty sure I could buy all the parts, tools, and education to rebuild it myself for a quarter of that amount.   or swap it out with a new one...
