The chevy dealer my brother works at, he run service had a GM engineer out last week looking at the problem and he was perplexed. Basically said they were fkd and did not know what to do. It is far more than is just being posted on this thread. They have 3-5 coming back every week and I suspect there is more than one issue causing the vibration.

The engineer was perplexed? I call BS. No way that after all these years they still don't know what's causing the problems.

You can call BS until you are blue in the face, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if GM really didn't know by now what the issue was. However- even if they did know what the issue was, I also wouldn't be surprised if they simply just let the issue go or sweep it under the run and address it when the 4 year refresh comes out in 2018. GM and other auto manufacturers like to do that. Saves them millions. And who cares about a few thousand dissatisfied customers who go to Ford or Crapota. They dont. Hell, you got Ford and Crapota owners who have dumped their pieces of crap over stupid things too and come over to GM. But we just want to believe that 1 manufacturer is capible of building a trouble free vehicle that they stand behind 100% and won't give you any shit over. Those days are gooooone, my friends. long gone.

I posted an article on this thread awhile back (you can do a search if interested) about the upcoming changes for the 2018 model. As I recall, (the frame theorists will love this, lol) a new stronger and stiffer frame is on the way. There was an interesting comment that I didn't understand; stated that the new frame would be back fitted compatable, something like that. Also, new body will be mostly aluminum. And, GM wil introduce a V-6 Turbo. But, I think these were all rumors, not necessarily facts. So, we shall see....

Found it interesting on you tube there are some F150 owners with fully boxed frames having vibration issues too. How many no clue but appears there out there too. One guy reported Ford thru a bunch of tires at it and checked drive shaft to no avail. Ford finally said operating normal and sent him on his way.

My 2014 Silverado Z71, 4.3L V6 has a vibration at 30MPH, 40MPH and 50MPH.. It comes and goes.. I have put the speed control on as soon as I feel it and the vibration will continue for a bit and then disappear. If I accelerate or decelerate 1-2MPH the vibration goes away.

The one thing I did notice is that the RPM's when I start to feel the vibration for all 3 speeds is consistently around 1200 rpm.

The truck was fine until I took it in for a service update 2 weeks ago.. Does this make sense to anyone??

Almost feel like it is some type of shift point problem..

Did you have the Tires Rotated during the service? If so, get them balanced and or Road Force Balanced..

99.9% sure it all has to do with the AFM "active fuel management" system.. in every instance, the engine is going from the V6 mode to V4..

This has been covered. The vibration from 70-80 has nothing to do with AFM. Some trucks with the vibe have a programmer with AFM removed and still shake at highway speeds.

Just telling you what I was told. My brother has been giving me info on this for months when I told him I was looking at new trucks and told me to stay away. They do not know what it is. Could be length of driveshaft, wheel configurations , bad tires, a tooth out of spec gear in rear end or a combination of any of the above. It popped up on a new suburban the owner was driving and another similar problem on a corvette noted in this thread. Sounds like a bad supplier that was outfitting some part of the drivetrain. Tires and wheels don't fix it and they have shimmed trannys to change angle of driveshaft... go figure. Bottom line is it's a shitbox and I am a chevy guy all day but would not touch a GM product at this point

Well I thought my vibrations/shakes were fixed after getting my driveshaft rebalanced, but today I drove on the interstate for about two hours and the shake/shimmy is still there. Rebalancing the driveshaft defiantly made the truck ride smoother and made it more obvious that the shake was coming from the rear end. I noticed a few pages back, someone posted a video of the rear axle hub face spinning and it not being round. So today, I tried the same the thing and I have the same results as the previous video. I think I'm going to try to find a tire shop that balances tires while the tires are on the truck and if this solves the 75+ mph shake I'm having, then I will be ordering some axles from Moser Engineering. The hub face my video is obviously not round and is that within specs??? Has anyone tried swapping out the axles with GM axles or aftermarket axles??

i have a 2014 chey that was smooth as glass until it hit 58k klms and then all the vibration sh&t started and gm is as perplexed as i am. how does a truck go that far and then start all this crap

A poorly engineered truck will never be right. Clearly a design issue that transcends multiple components and systems on the truck. Push for buyback. The more that do the bigger issue it will become

So every time you rotate tires it can change your truck's balance. Right!

Only way to balance is wheels and tires on the truck and as the tires wear and rotations are done vibrations can be different. Better or worse.

BS.... My trucks AFM has been off for years and it still vibrated until I had the driveshaft fixed.
