Food for thought.... I was putting my leveling kit on and I just so happened to spin the rotor/axle assembly on my truck.. I noticed that the front right shaft from the diff to the wheel was slightly bent and you could really tell that it wasn't perfectly straight. I don't have a vibration but maybe its worse on some trucks causing a front end /wheel shake...??? Something I haven't heard anyone mention yet..

Supposedly fixed a few. Mine vibrates like crazy. I can feel it the instant I hit the gas and different speeds as high as 85 mph. I haven't had mine done yet as I don't want to throw parts at it.

 

There are a lot of trucks with this issue. Not sure if the ring gear is really the issue. If it is, they better do something about it. Either a service campaign, or recall. My double cab was less than 500 units in production at Fort Wayne and the assembly quality has been horse $hit. It should never have left the factory with the issues my truck has. Many of them are because of poor assembly. My truck makes me embarrassed for anyone who works there."

"Problems at assy plants with new vehicles: The tires spin on the wheels AFTER assy and being driven. The lube is still wet and allows the tire to slip...noticed more with the chrome 20" and 22" wheels. Get them balanced again. Drive shaft u-joints not pressed in correctly so you get vibes at certain speeds."

If you look over on the "how satisfied are you" poll....most of those people insist that less than 1% of the owners are experiencing problems! (I have no idea where those mathematicians get their numbers...maybe out of their behind?) They basically call BS on anyone with a complaint...including the hell I went through with my 2014 Vibratorado. 8 months of hell, GM lies, and more problems that that truck was worth forced me to ditch it when GM gave up trying to fix it. I'm now a VERY happy Ford owner. Sorry, but welcome to the 2014 GM nitemare. Grab a seat, there's plenty of us to chat with. It's a rather large club if anyone bothers to look past this forum.

I'm on my 4th repair and 2nd dealership. They keep telling me nothing is wrong. They won't even put a new set of rims and tires on it to see if that changes it.

 

I was put in a 2014 wt loaner with 50 miles and it rode night and day better than my $46k truck. That really had me hot!!!

 

I've already filed with the BBB Autoline and waiting to hear back.

They all vibrate....there's no certain built, engine, etc that doesn't vibrate. Even the people who claim theirs doesn't vibrate...it just vibrates less or they're not feeling it. I drove a guys "silky smooth" 14 Silverado and it shook like my lemon. To them, it's "a truck". I had a rental 2 wheel drive with the 6cyl and it vibrated worse than mine with the 5.3, and started from about 50 on up. I promise you one thing...GM knows exactly what's wrong but chooses to keep producing them with the problem, and selling you a truck that they know you're not going to like. This thread is over a year and a half old and GM is still making vibrators...knowingly.

They don't all vibrate, my wife drives big cars. The one she drives now is a 2011 Geneses, two years in a row won best in class for luxury sport sedan. Ive owned all the big cars over the years, my 14 GMC is the one we take for long trips even thou her car gets better fuel mileage its that smooth and quiet. You should just be ignored, I think Ill do that from now on.

I have a '14 Sierra 1500 2wd crew cab build date 3/14. I have no vibration. I'm mechanically inclined, raced motocross and ridden motorcycles since I was 11 yrs. old (now 50) including Harley Davidsons. Talk about vibrate? Try racing a 2 stroke motocross bike @ 10,000 rpms or a riding a '78 shovelhead rigid mount. I have a tuned ear and am savy for noises, squeaks, rattles and have a feel for vibrations. I've been keeping up with this thread since last spring. I've seen videos of vibrating trucks, read many complaints of fixes and no fixes. I even make myself try to feel for vibrations, try different speeds, driving conditions, roads and can't duplicate any. I even put a bottle of water in the console driving up to 90mph and it's as steady as can be. No shake or vibration in the console, steering wheel or floorboard. My '14 Sierra rides and drives better than my '10 Sierra and '13 Silverado did. So no, not all trucks are vibrators like the complaints on this tread. I have friends who have 14's and have ridden in them and I feel nothing. Maybe some do think there truck is "silky smooth" when in fact it's not but I know mine doesn't have any vibration at any speed. Sure any engine, moving or rotating object will have some amount of harmonics and or vibrations but I can say it's non-existent when I drive my truck. Mine came with Goodyear 20's but now have GM 22" with Bridgestone's. There were zero vibrations with the 20's as well. I know some are having vibrating problems and I really feel for these guys. I would be sick myself. When I bought my truck there was an identical one next to it. Same color and equipment. Maybe the other one was a vibrator I don't know. I'm grateful the one I chose wasn't.

I've had my 2014 standard cab 4x4 long bed trailer packaged 3.42 ratio WT 1500 back from the shop for a week after driveshaft was replaced. The service dept. at Bob Hook declared the problem fixed. Now after a 20 minute drive ANYWHERE I tingle like I had spent the night in an old "Magic fingers" bed. Anybody want to start a mobile hook shop?

so i really don't want to read 267 pages. are there any 2015s with this problem or are they all 2014s? mine never had an issue. have almost 12k miles on it. i am about to order a 15 and really don't want to be sorry i did.

For what it's worth, my first service visit resulted in "wheel balance fixed it." It didn't. Strike one.

 

The second visit lasted 16 days. The rear axle assy was replaced. Driving at "around town" speeds to break in the new rear, the truck felt good up to 50 - 55 MPH. It used to shake bad at that speed. At around 275 miles, it gradually started shaking again. At about 380 miles (on the new rear), I took it on the highway. Not good at all. 70 - 75 shakes bad. She seems to be smooth when stone cold. It gets worse as things warm up. If I didn't know better, I would swear that it's a tire problem (stock Goodyear Eagle LS2, 20") but the smart guys swear that all my tires are balanced properly and measure around 16 lbs of road force variation. Dammit. Strike two.

 

Notified dealer that I would like a third and final repair attempt (per GA lemon law). Was told on 29 Dec that they don't know what else to do and that they want an engineer to look at it. As of today, they're still waiting for the GM engineer for this area to be available.

 

The fact that the new rear started out smooth and got worse as it wore in doesn't make me feel too good about this. Or.... Maybe the new rear is good and a tire or the drive shaft/u-joint developed a problem. Multiple defects and/or installing a defective new part really challenges the troubleshooting thought process.

 

Enough rambling for now. I really like (actually love) this truck aside from the shaking. It's equipped exactly as I like it and the price was right. If only it rode like a new truck... I hope they can fix it.

I went through 5 repair attempts with the last two visits done by GM engineers. I figured...now we're getting somewhere when the Engineer was called in. He swapped tires like a minimum wage tire monkey would, and that obviously had no effect at all. After all the time and money they spent trying to figure out my vibration issue, spanning 8 months and 11,000 miles with no improvement....my truck was suddenly deemed "performing as designed" and the case was closed. If they had been honest and advertised that they designed a vibrating peice of sub quality garbage on 4 wheels that would have been one thing...but thats not what they advertised. MY new truck got more money in parts and repairs than all other vehicles I've had over my life combined! There is NO FIX for this vibration....but GM will keep making them the same way, with the same defective design...and will keep selling them to you and taking your money. GM has stopped caring about the customer, and about their reputation. GM's primary goal is taking your money and putting it in their pocket. I truely believe we're witnessing the slow death of GM. They're bleeding money with all these recalls, and cannot legally accept another bailout on the taxpayers dime. They've dug themselves a deep grave by putting profits ahead of quality and customer satisfaction...and thats the absolute shortest lived business model you can implement. After owning one of those vibratorados for 8 months, talking with mechanics and service managers at two dealerships, and several same truck owners in my area it's very clear that those trucks will not, can not last a long life. I personally think someone would have to be crazy to keep one past the 36,000 mile warranty period. I had everything breaking on mine before 11,000 miles and this forum is FULL of people experiencing those same breaking parts. The fan boys will attack me for sayig it...but I say it based on personal experience with that same model truck so... I would make them have a 3rd try, and then open a BBB claim and get a lawyer to put pressure on them so they buy the truck back and go with something else. I'm not pushing any certain brand...I'm just here to remind people that you dont have to suffer at the hands of GM. You dont deserve it, and you have options to end the nitemare and get into a vehicle that drives nice and that you can be happy with. OK, I've go my flak jacket on now...go for it GM fan boys! HAHA.

thats 100% right GM does not care if they did they would fix the problem now no matter the cost and keep there customers

I was thinking of bringing mine in to "fix the shake", but enough people here seem to have tried, so if theirs weren't fixed, what in the hell would I get out of even attempting to go to my dealership? I also have an aftermarket Borla exhaust on mine and I can see that they would probably use that as an excuse as to why the vehicle is shaking....no thanks. I just do NOT have the time for back and forth dealership trips....SUCKS man!

Yea I have borla as well and they are blaming it on "reverberations" from the exhaust. Sad thing is I can put it in neutral and let off the gas and coast and still feel it with no exhaust sounds which leads me to believe rims and/or tires.

 

I've begged 2 different dealerships and about 4 different level supervisors at Gm for a new set of rims and tires for 2 months now and no one will do anything to help me.

It even says in my owners manual tires are covered under warranty. After a certain amount of miles they prorate what you have to pay to replace them.

    • Conditions for Meeting a Cold Start   The ignition voltage is between 10 and 15 V. The barometric pressure (BARO) is more than 75 kPa. The engine coolant temperature (ECT) at start-up is less than 42°C (108°F). The intake air temperature (IAT) is between 2–32°C (36–90°F). The engine is OFF for greater than 6 hours or the following conditions must be met: The start-up IAT minus start-up ECT are within 12°C (22°F). The start-up ECT minus start-up IAT are within 50°C (90°F). Fuel level is between 25 and 75 %.   Circuit/System Verification Verify that all I/M System Status indicators report YES, and that no I/M Test DTCs are present.If any I/M Test DTCs are set Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle. If no I/M Test DTCs are set All OK. Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) System Set Procedure   Warning: Refer to Road Test Warning. Note: Do NOT touch the accelerator pedal until told to do so. A change in TP Sensor angle or an increase in engine speed may invalidate this portion of the test.   Note: An I/M Test DTC will not be stored or erased from the ECU except at the end of trip processing, which occurs 5 s after ignition OFF.   Ensure that the vehicle meets the conditions for a cold start listed above. If the EVAP I/M System Status indicator displays NO, perform the EVAP Service bay test if applicable. Turn OFF all of the accessories; HVAC system, other electrical loads, including aftermarket/add-on equipment, etc., and open the hood.   Set the vehicle parking brake and ensure the vehicle is in park for automatic transmission or neutral for manual transmission.   Start and idle the engine for 2 min.   Close the hood, release the parking brake and Accelerate at part throttle to 72–80 km/h (45–50 mph) with this speed maintained until the engine reaches operating temperature, 8–10 min.   Continue operation under these conditions for an additional 6 min.   Accelerate at part throttle to 90 km/h (55 mph) with this speed maintained for 2 min.   Release the accelerator pedal for at least 10 s. This will allow the vehicle to enter the decel fuel cut off.   Safely stop the vehicle, with the engine in drive for automatic or neutral with the clutch pedal depressed and parking brake applied for manual. Allow the vehicle to idle for 2 min.   Shift the vehicle to park for automatic and neutral for manual. Turn OFF the ignition and exit the vehicle. Do NOT disturb the vehicle for 45 min.   Observe the Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) System Status with a scan tool. All of the I/M System Status indicators should display YES.   If the EVAP I/M System Status indicator displays NO, turn OFF the ignition, ensure that the vehicle meets the conditions for a cold start, and repeat steps 6-11 three more times, or until the EVAP I/M System Status indicator transitions to YES. If the indicator continues to display NO, refer to the Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) System DTC Table to identify the DTCs that did not run.   If any of the I/M System Status indicators display NO, refer to the Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) System DTC Table for the indicator which did not display YES. The I/M System DTC Table identifies the DTCs associated with each I/M System Status Indicator.   Observe the I/M Test DTC information with a scan tool. Verify there are no I/M Test DTCs present. If an I/M Test DTC is set, diagnose the DTC using the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle and refer to Inspection/Maintenance System Check.   Observe the engine DTC information with a scan tool. Verify no DTCs are present. If a DTC is set, diagnose using the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle. After repairs, perform the Inspection/Maintenance Complete System Set Procedure to verify no further DTCs are set.       Looks like one procedure to me.  Repeated as necessary.
    • My 2020 AT4 6.2 has had the valve spring issue addressed at ~200 miles, front cover/pump replaced at 18k, water pump at 34k and idler pully at 65k.  I would agree with ditching by 100k unless you elect to go with upgraded hardware...say built 10l80 and an lt4 or l8p swap.
