It won't make sense, but after trying several different remedies I had the tranny flushed. I told the independent mechanic to do the BG's chemical treatment with the fresh fluid. Hasn't had the vibration / shake in over a year. Now I need to knock on wood! If a flush doesn't work you may need a torque converter...

Sounds a bit redundant but thought I just as well add my 2 cents. Have had my 2017 Chev. 1500 Silverado LTZ 4x4 with 5.3 since last year when I bought it new as a carry over with about 50 miles on it. It is a pretty truck and I couldn't figure out why it was still on the lot. I am beginning to understand why after reading many of the remarks on this thread.

When I first drove the truck, I told the salesman I felt a little vibration and thought the tires needed balanced. He told me he would have them balanced for me before purchase and did. The vibration I am getting is especially noticeable at first start after it has cooled off. It seems to improve at the lower rpm's after a few minutes of driving. I still notice some vibration at highway speeds that still feels like a broken belt in a tire or something but am now wondering if that really is what it is. I only have 5000 miles on the truck and finally asked the dealer about the issue at the first oil and tire rotation. He told me there was no service bulletins on the issue! (after reading this thread--I am not sure what he had been smokin before telling me that)! Anyway, I took it to another dealer who immediately told me there are known issues with the TC and he has scheduled an appt. for this next Weds. I will take it in on Tuesday night so it can sit and be nice and cool for the test drive in the A.M. He assured me that the mechanics are aware of the issue and they wouldn't need to put any diagnostic equipment on the truck but rather would be able to tell by driving the vehicle. Stay Tuned! Thanks for listening and any other thoughts are appreciated.

Had my torque converter and driveshaft replaced. No luck I actually feel like it made it worse.  Pissed me off so bad I traded in my High Country and bought a new crew cab  LTZ. SHakes all gone...

Yeah my dealer sent the driveshaft for balancing. They said it was out a bit, but not enough to cause an issue. Made the vibration slightly better but it’s still there. I feel like they’ve optimized everything else (tires, driveshaft, gears) but still haven’t fixed what’s causing it.

Bought a 2016 Denali 6.2L 4x4 last week with 53k miles on it.  Shame on me, I didn't do an interstate ride as part of my test.  Took a road trip to go camping over the weekend and when I got to 73 mph it was pretty bad.  It got worse as I increased speed to 80 ish.  I immediately started thinking bad tires/balance, but a quick search revealed that it's actually a thing. ?

That led me here.

So...I'm guessing I have about 6k miles of powertrain warranty, and should hit up the local GMC dealer about it before I get to 60k.  I'm assuming a RFB or regular balancing of the tires won't actually do any good at this point and should actually look at the service bulletin for the fluid flush or check into getting another driveshaft to start.  If I can't fix this I'll have to dump the truck. We do too many road trips as a family to deal with this.  Which is a shame.  It's such a nice looking pickup.

I think my actual plan for this after a tire balance will be to get the driveshaft checked out first for balance and runout at a local driveline shop.  See what that turns up, and then look at the trans flush, and then go after some of the other things that have led to success.

The dealer I bought it from is going to get the tires balanced for me.  I complained to them when I got home from the trip.

After we have a large enough sample size of no confirmed issues on the T1 platform with plenty of miles on the road, it would be amazing if someone out there could thoroughly document the changes to the frame/driveline/etc between the 2 and try to conclude what may have been the issue on the K2's. Other than that, we may indeed never get a definitive answer on this topic.

My guess is it has something to do with this. Kyle and a few others have fixed their vibrations with new drive shafts and axels, and conveniently GM is manufacturing its own Drive Shafts and Axles in the new generation of trucks that don't shake.

And let me guess the new drive shafts won't fit the k1 series vehicles

I think someone posted a 2017 driveshaft on here and it did look different than the 2016 down models .

That being said i dont think i have seen anyone with a flow through centre console have this issue which i find very interesting ..

I would think it wouldn't fit.

What do you mean by flow through?  The front with the big center console and no jump seat?  Or are you saying that trucks with the flow through that are 2017 and newer don't have the issue?

Yes the big console with no jump seat . I rode in a friends 2016 with the flow through console and it felt a little rough on the highway but not bad and zero centre console shake .

My console doesn't shake, but the seats sure do!  A bottle of water in the cup holders show a lot of vibration too.

Meh, only difference in the consoles is rigidity. Nothing more than that. The less rigid the feature the more likely to develop some type of movement.

If it were that easy i would have a "flow through" console.

Sorry to be that guy...but I jumped ship yesterday and got a 2019 Silverado.  Mine got so bad that my 9 year old thought it was blowout!  Still loving Chevy, just not liking how they're treating customers with no resolution.  BTW, rebates are ridiculous right now on the 2019's, that was my incentive.

    • I just bought this. A minimum for me but, I don`t work anymore and don`t want the heavy update costs of the higher end tools. You would have to make money with them.   https://www.topdon.us/collections/diagnostic-tools/products/artidiag-pro   Even this tool has a $250.00 update cost after 2 years.
    • I have an Autel, works great for what it is. Can't do some specific things because you need say the GM tool, VCDS for Audi/Volkswagon and others of course. But those times are few and far between for me.   The other tool I'd like to try one day is the new Topdon scan tools. Seen several video's on them and many youtube people review them.    I've never subscribed for updates or payed to do that stuff on my Autel, so I'm sure I'm missing out on some of the updates but I'm fine with that for now.
    • I am in the market for a bidirectional scan tool so was hoping someone can help point me in the right direction. There are so many options out there it is hard to narrow down which make/model to choose.   I have always done my own vehicle work so looking to maximize capability with the scanner. Ideal price is $1k or less but would be willing to exceed if it opens up significant benefits.  Currently my 24 2500 is the newest vehicle but also have a few mid to late 2010s Subarus as well.    It seems that the Autel MP900 has a decent amount of features at a reasonable price?
    • There was talk over the last couple of years that the contract to build these trucks between GM and International would not be renewed.  International moved production of all their other trucks besides the companion CV model out of the Springfield plant some time ago when they opened their San Antonio plant.  That left Springfield only building the Silverado Medium Duty, International CV Series, and some Express/Savanna long wheelbase cutaways.  International also put the plant up for sale some time ago.  This all answered my earlier question as to why GM and International did nothing with these trucks since they were introduced, as they had basically become a market 'placeholder' with a finite life.    The Silverado Medium Duty/International CV trucks were interesting combination of a GM powertrain, electrical system, and K2XX Silverado cab with an International chassis that was supposedly designed for a step-van type vehicle they never produced.  They were manufactured in International's Springfield plant along with the IH MV series initially.  When first introduced, there was much talk that the Silverado Medium Duty/CV would eventually get a gasoline engine option along with other upgrades and GM and IH would work on a class 6/7 joint venture truck.  This was before VW bought Navistar out, after that happened no more was said.  Draw your own conclusions...   About the time talk started that the GM/IH joint venture was not going to be renewed, rumors started that GM would develop a new line of medium duty trucks themselves.  The story is the new trucks will be part of the next generation HD's due in 2028, and will still feature a 'straight rail' chassis design that the current medium duty has.  GM views this as a desirable feature that differentiates their truck from the competition.  A gasoline engine option is also expected.  As the current Silverado Medium Duty remains in production until September 2026 and there is still a lot of inventory available do not expect any official word for some time.   I believe GM remains committed to their successful partnership with Isuzu, and all the LCF models will still be available from Chevy Commercial dealers.  Isuzu is on the cusp of opening a new large plant in South Carolina and there is also speculation that this may result in new product for both Isuzu and Chevy Commercial dealers.
