You joined just to tell everyone that? Gee wonder what you are?

Tyler

Please tell me what I am? If your going to say a " long time Chevy fan who has been disappointed since 2013" then you are correct. If you're going with troll then you would be wrong.

Also, I am pretty sure I have had this account for awhile but have not posted.

Read through the entire GM fleet order guide. Biggest omissions I’ve noticed so far:

1. No adaptive cruise, only “following distance indicator” as part of the “Driver Alert Package II” , not included with “Driver Alert Package I”.

2. HUD, 360 Surround Vision cameras and rearview HD camera mirror only available as an option on Denali as part of the CWW Technology Package. N/A on SLT. Pictures online suggest these will be available on the AT4. No mention of the AT4 in the guide.

3. No Z71 option. Now called X31 Off Road Package. Possibly only available on the AT4?

As others have mentioned, 6.2 + 10spd only available on 4WD versions.

Missing Adaptive cruise is disappointing but not a deal killer for me as I rarely even use regular cruise.  If the AT4 has the CWW tech Package, I’m in.

Yeah I would like to have the adaptive cruise but it’s not a deal breaker. The HD cameras will be nice because the current ones are crap. I really wanted the RST with the 6.2 but I have a HC now with the 6.2 and 2wd. Didn’t really want 4wd but I will still be getting the truck. The 10 spd and lower overall weight will be nice and the truck really didn’t need more power but would of been nice. :)

Don't forget:

1. No Pano Roof Option.  Some have no need, I like them, and the competition offers as an OPTION.

2. No Ventilated Rear Seats - Ram has them coming

3. Lower TQ numbers on the 6.2L - 450 vs. 460 on previous gen.  WTF?

4. Poor placement of outside mirrors = FUGLY.  Oh wait that was an improvement for visibility...glad I needed this so I can now see objects in my mirrors and out my side windows for the first time EVER.  Really...C,mon GM who do you have in your focus groups?

Ohh.,. and the GM adaptive cruise in their trucks and full size SUVs is the biggest POS in the industry so that is one thing I do not want in an option package.  It can be an option for people that want it like I mentioned in bullet 1 but don't force that crap on people.  I got rid of two Yukon Denalis because it was such crap.

Sigh.

Also no towing mirrors!

Just soooo many misses with this truck I cannot understand who their audience is?   Oh and how bout them fender wells on the GMC.  Guess the designers could not make up their minds..."go back to rounded, no everyone like squared, hey I am new here let's incorporate both so we do not offend anybody that way everyone will be happy."  Geez MC.

Chevy dude on YouTube did a video on the new trucks just a day or 2 ago. It seems these early production trucks are going to be current body styles. The info he has said the new body style probably won't hit dealership lots until early 2019. Check out his video for more accurate dates than I can give. I just remember being disappointed with his info. That is for crew cabs. They plant in Mexico isnt supposed to start production until the end of the year.

Sorry... but that's just inaccurate. New body style crew cab trucks will most definitely start being produced in mid July. I'm 100% certain.  He's getting mixed up by the fact that double cab K2XX chassis vehicles will continue production for nearly the rest of the year while T1XX ramps up.

I like the new GM's but I'm glad there are other brands to choose from for customers like yourself who are unhappy with the upgrades.  (I'm sure you would have been even more outraged when GM removed the triangle vent windows and used this location to mount "FUGLY" mirrors.)  It is fine to prefer one brand over another but there are reasons behind any changes or upgrades.

Oh ok wasn't sure.

    • I have the same running boards on my truck and I do agree they are bulky. I also find myself stepping over them when getting in and out of the truck. Besides providing protection to the rocker panels, they aren't very useful.  I will be replacing them soon with the Amp Powersteps.
    • Monthly payment is only part of the equation. With today's prices and interest rates, I'd look at the total monthly cost: payment, insurance, registration, fuel, maintenance, and expected repairs. A vehicle that fits comfortably into your budget is usually the better choice than stretching for a higher trim. I've also kept my vehicles longer over the past few years. New cars have gotten expensive enough that driving one for 10+ years, while staying on top of maintenance, often ends up being the most cost-effective approach.
    • 10 Ford and Chevy engines proven to reach 300,000 miles   You may note a common 3K OCI on this list of gas motors. I skipped over the diesels. Dh'O.
    • Thanks newdude!  By the time manual selection is needed, I'm probably too much of a control-freak to depend on the transmission sensing braking to activate automatic downshifting.  I would be anticipating the situation and already be manually downshifting.   This truck replaced a 2004.5 LLY diesel with the Allison 5-speed.  Putting it in T/H made noticeable differences (when the torque converter locked, upshift points, downshift behavior).  On this 2024 gasser with the 10L1000 I haven't been able to detect much, if any, difference.  Ok, I can never tell now when the torque converter locks up.  But I also don't notice differences in shifting.  For downhills, I've probably already manually downshifted by then anyway.  Since it's also more awkward (than the 2004.5) to engage/disengage I don't even bother.  Or maybe it doesn't really matter with just a 3k lb. camper in the bed?   Thanks also for the list of reasons the charging system might select various voltages.  However, what I am seeing doesn't fall into any of those categories.  It very definitely, and very consistently, rises after coasting/braking.  Maybe not immediately, but not very long after coasting/braking.  Very consistently drops voltage when no longer coasting/braking.  It might also be interacting with the camper battery charging (I might disconnect the camper and see if it changes the charging behavior).  I also need to recheck turning on headlights for when I want to force it to charge the camper.   Another JR, in June I converted the camper to LiFePO4.  Since it's not a good idea to try to charge lithiums directly using truck, I installed a Victron Orion XS DC-DC charger (which BTW is AMAZING!!).  Being cheap, I only had to buy that one item (besides the battery, of course) to do the conversion.  The camper OEM 120v battery charger (only 19 years old and works perfectly) and the truck feed the input to the DC-DC charger (not at the same time).  But I didn't want the camper charger feeding back to the truck so I kept the old separator.  I considered replacing the separator with a 30amp diode but that means more work and might add another 1/2 volt drop.  One thing that surprised me was the voltage drop over the long 10awg wire run, so I can only charge smoothly at 8 amps (because the DC-DC charger is completely configurable).  Another reason I don't want an added voltage drop with the diode.  I might also be a little lazy but all this work is being done under the sink with a small cabinet opening.
    • apparently CA smog is (or at least was)  checking that the vehicle is using the oem and/or a ca smog approved tune, so I expect you'll fail inspection doing it.
