I just got my CTB yesterday and just like everyone else, I'm frustrated with the console.  I've been reading the posts but don't see that anyone has cracked the code yet.  I'm wondering if the console can be disassembled from the top and rebuilt with the hinged lid.  I can slip my hand under the horseshoe-shaped cloth piece and was able to dislodge the fasteners that hold it down in the back.  However, I got nervous that I might break it because I'm not seeing how it comes apart from the plastic/rubber portion in the front.

Here are some pics of what I'm thinking.  Anyone got any ideas????

I'm in the same boat and my service/parts dept. told me they wouldn't do the console swap. He said he may be able to get me one but it would void the warranty if I changed it out wtf?!?!

You need the Infotainment Package to get XM.  At least it's an option on the CBT.... unlike that stupid console that won't open!!!!

How does one get the upgraded information package?  Do they upload something to the computer in the truck?

Has anyone tried popping off the cover.  It feels like it will pop off but to scared to try lol. If it does come off. I’d be perfectly fine with leaving the jump seat down if there’s a opening in the console that is

I'm guessing the Infotainment Package is just a software update on a common display platform (but this is purely a guess).  However, I'm not sure if/how that could be done "after the fact".  Mine happened to have it as an option on the truck my dealer located.  Since it is an option for the CTB, you might ask your dealer if a software update could be done.  Best of luck!

So I have xm from my old truck I want to transfer over to my trailboss custom.  Xm sent me this free xm adapter but really do not want to use that unless I have to.  I have xm downloaded on apple car play on my screen.  Can I stream it through applecarplay if I have anywhere streaming?  This is all new to me and every time I call xm they are useless and say I need to turn to channel 0 to get my radio ID# but I cannot get to channel 0.  Sooooo frustrating.

I"m really let down coming from an LT.  I just expected that to have storage and never looked at the dealership. I would really like to see a replacement console with a sub/amp installed. I need the under seat storage in the rear, and the center console would be perfect for storage and a sub.

So I decided to peek inside the the top of the jumper seat today and I snapped some pictures for you guys. Here is my piece of the puzzle.

It looks like the lower portion of the arm rest has the cavity for the inner bin.

I wonder if we would be able to just remove the top (back rest) of the jump seat with another back rest. One with a middle console already there.

I just picked mine up today and never knew there was no centre console.

even on my Ls Tahoe 2016 there was storage in centre console.

i had the whole thing swamped to Katskin leather with red stitching and it looks like they took the centre console apart to put the leather on the centre. So I am sure there is a way to customize some how. I will look into it.if anyone finds a way please post!

Thanks

The best option would be to wait for the OEM parts to become available to order. Then just remove the center seat and replace it with the seat w/ center storage or even the center console (popular on the K2 trucks now). The lack of center storage really killed the CTB for me.

Another example of GM removing previously standard features to force customers into a much more expensive truck. What's next? Replacing the rear disk brakes with drum brakes?
