Or maybe the spring mounts were welded to the frame slightly off?

So my truck shudders during acceleration when towing. The dealer did a fix in the transmission pump bolt that was loose, that didn't fix it. Now the engineers are telling him that he needs to try a two degree shim between the leaf springs and the axle. He was told that some of the trucks had the leaf springs welded wrong which created the wrong angle on the rear-end. He took measurements from mine and a 2015 and sure enough my truck is off. They can shim all the way up to four degree according to GM. If that doesn't fix it the will try the next random fix. My feeling is they should be buying my truck back if my entire rear-end is welded on wrong.

OK just got my truck back. First took it in, they told me to drive 500 miles. Second time in, they found that 3 of the 4 stock tires were bad.

"Road Force balanced on tires LF LR RR all failed, LF ok, 13 LR 28 RR 24 LF 31 (im assuming the tech messed this up because he didn't mark which value was for the RF tire) replaced all 3 tires drove vehicle felt better still feel vibration in gas pedal as customer advised. Drove vehicle on drive hoise felt vibration swapped rear prop shafts from stock vehicle no change removed rear tires no change removed rear rotors no change called TAC instructed to measure backlash or rear ring and pinion if out of specs replace complete rear axle assembly removed rear axle cover measured backlash ranged from .007-.011 out of specs for runout ordered rear axle assembly through Partech TAC caseXX-XXXXXXXXXX Tim B 2.90 OLH for repairs and diag. Road force and and force match, checking rear axle runout and back lash between each tooth of rear axle. 2.9 OLH excessive labor and diagnosis. 5 days loaner and etc...etc..."

So that's word for word what was written on my copy of the service report.

The vibrations feel the same as when I dropped it off. Expected so, as all they did was install 3 new tires and get my new rims all dirty.

Parts should be in soon and I will provide another update once the rear end parts have been installed.

It very well can be the axle had the mounts welded on slightly off too. This explains why after they completely replaced my rear end and nothing happened... This might be like Nissan had back in 04-05 on the Titans. People have checked the angle though and said it was OK...?? Keep us posted on the shims... If it fixes it, please report back here.

Did Nissan take care of it?

4 WEEKS straight in the shop for a steering wheel vibration between 40-50mph and still no fix. Engineers now want to do do another vibration analysis this time mounting their tool under the truck not on the steering wheel where they did their 1st test 3 weeks ago. New rear end parts did nothing , RF balancing did nothing. My service dept is good at doing nothing. I am in Canada where we have no Lemon law just CAMVAP anyone else in Canada having issues. Owned truck 10 weeks been in shop for 5 weeks BRUTAL

I had exact say issue, had a vibration starting at 40mph to 55mph they did song and dance and sent me on my way! I went through camvap full buy back after they could not fix this shudder, shake, vibration. I referred to it always as a shake for legal reasons....

GM tried to deduct for mileage use, I did not agree to any loss on my part, I had my hearing with arbitrator and GM and allowed them one last attempt to fix which they could not fix. Full refund and left GM behind and bought a ecodiesel ram.

List all issues with your truck like radio signal loss, tranny ect.. when you apply for hearing.

hope this helps you some.

Also, had rear end replaced, 2x driveshafts, tires, also had steering noises from front right side while backing up with wheel turned to full right clunking sound like hammer hitting solid metal thunk sound.

In conclusion this shaking shuddering vibration problem I believed to be transmission/torque converter related.

Damn GM for not caring and treating me like sh*t while they sent me away with "preforming as designed" nothing else we can do.....!

Good luck to everyone. The dealer brought in a "field engineer" to look at mine. He lowered the tire pressure to 30 then took it for a ride with the vibe analyzer. Service Manager called to let me know that there would be no buy back, the vehicle is "operating as designed" and there was nothing else they could do for the truck. He did offer to let me trade in my truck on another Chevy. They all had some type of vibration and it would be at my expense........Don't know what else to do except take a hit on another brand. YAY

That, my friend, is the way GM does business, unless you are lucky enough to have the dealer on your side.

There is no reason for you to take a huge cash loss. Saying that all the trucks do it is NOT a defense in court.

1. Send GM a certified letter offering one last chance to repair your truck. Address to send to is in your warranty book.

2. At the same time, file a complaint with BBB Autoline. Look in my sig for a link.

3. Contact a lemon law attorney.

4. If GM wont repair your truck or buy it back, SUE THEM and MAKE them do it.

That's freakin terrible. BBB, lemon law, atty. Hey Eddie A. with Customer care, can you help this guy now???? If Customer care is so eager to help and ya'll are so sorry to hear of the problem forward all these complaints to Mrs. GM herself. Forward to upper management. Engineers??? Can you not do that??? Geez GM this is horrible! My truck doesn't vibrate but reading all this makes my stomach turn and GM is leaving a really bad taste. I'm really loosing confidence... Un F**I<**G believable!

GM cust care (oxymoron) reps? Useless fake apology wanks.

Yesterday I looked at some new GMC trucks on the local dealer's lot. I saw a new 2014 All Terrain crew cab with a $ 50k+ sticker and it did not have the sunroof or the navigation.
Even with the heftiest of discounts, you still will pay close to $ 45k for this truck once taxes and other fees are figured in. You would expect good quality for this kind of money. We already figured out where the problem is. GM produced a good design but dropped the ball on the manufacturing quality control which determines how each individual truck will behave. So buying one is a hit and miss proposition. You can get a good one or a lemon. Not a good gamble when paying this kind of money for it. This is why it is so inappropriate for those who have good trucks with few problems to attack those with legitimate complaints.

GM Customer Care

Apparently you and the other customer reps don't care. If you or GM would care y'all would put more effort in the matter. Just coming on the forum and stating the same repetitive posts and being a 3rd party between the dealer and customer doesn't make these guys feel any better. Can't you see this? If you work for GM, why don't you send this link to the upper GM management and let them read these 3500 + posts and see how these customers feel about how GM is treating when buying a $40-$50K truck. Loyal GM customers are really hurt by what GM has done to them and how a fix hasn't been found for the shaken, vibrating trucks. Surly someone with GM cares somewhere but no one steps up to the plate. Customers are switching brands, the word is getting out, some have bought GM all their lives and will never buy another GM again. Professional grade? Really. It's really sad, pitiful, awful, and horrible what's going on here. Is this what GM wants? Do they care? Apparently not. Do they not care about all the customers wanting buy backs, filing lemon laws, BBB etc? Do you not have other contacts in the chain of command or upper management? You must have. This goes for all the customer care reps hanging around on the forum not just you. Does Mrs. Barra or Mr. Ammann really care about 237 pages of complaints??? How about Mrs. Davis with quality and customer experience? If you care and want to help please find the right person to fix this mess and web that GM has created. It would be nice for one of you reps to come on and say "I've forwarded these complaints to the proper management and will stay on it". When will the madness stop? GM won't be known as the leader but the shi****st in the auto industry. GM's bread and butter are Silverado/Sierra trucks. Not Caddi's and Vettes. Take care of the customers that took care of them and who believed in them. Just terrible GM!! Terrible....

Mrs. Barra's mission statement:

GM is driving to become the global industry leader in automotive design and technology, product quality and safety, customer care. Really???

Go easy on Kristen. These "reps" are merely minimum wage employees hired to monitor the forums to help GM maintain an image of customer service. Go to the facebook page of any company and its the same thing. I dealt with this on Verizon FiOS's facebook page. Go to enough facebook pages or forums and you'll start seeing the same pattern of responses from these "reps." That's why all of these customer care responses are nearly identical. It's scripted. They're here to take and pass your information along to a dealer local to you. Or you can just contact GM and a dealer yourself and accomplish the same thing. But using these reps usually will open a case in your name starting the documentation process you'll need if you want a buy back, lemon law, or whatever so they can be helpful. Bottom line is they're not here to provide you with any answers. They're like the receptionist at an office and your problem lies with their boss (GM).

You should've looked underneath. For 45 g's I'll bet it comes complete with a rusty frame.

    • Maybe, but it seems he is the only one that has backed up data to prove what he is stating. I think he is doing this more because he enjoys it and wants to get the information out to us. He's got the knowledge and access to the proper equipment and having the funds doesn't hurt.  I would love to do what he is doing and would do it if and when I hit the Powerball.  I'm not a Tribologist by any means but love to learn what I can.   I would bet there would be doubting people out there if a completely independent lab with high quality work and highly respected in the automotive industry, put out information like this.  The world can't be pleased, one just has to take the information that they are given, do more of their own research to find actual lab data to back up what they are trying to figure/find out.  Most don't bother, they just want to believe what they first see.     I don't have the minimax but my 6.2 in my 2019 Silverado with 64k miles shows excellent UOA results with 0w-20 and for my own purposes 5w-20.  Since not much of a change using 5w. I liked the data sheet information on the SS 5w-20 and figured I would give it a try.  Still the same viscosity at 100℃.   In the end we all just do what makes us happy, life is too short to get upset over trivial social media.   On a side note, I do feel GM has dropped the ball and just cares about the bottom dollar and not quality anymore.  "Like a Rock" has been long gone.  Seems "Built Ford Tough" has as well.
    • Better than stock but that's like putting lipstick on a pig
    • Hello, my 3 month old Sierra Elevation wont recognize a trailer with electric brakes? All the lights work correctly, but no power to the brakes?   This is the factory installed brake controller. If you manually push the knob, the display shows the power % but does not light up like my 2022 silverado.   I have an appointment with the dealer, but was checking to see if anyone else has seen this issue.    Thanks,
    • Been using SS 0w-20 from new, but wanted to change to the 5w-20 because I liked the data on the data sheet, to me it seems like a little better product. But as you can see, not much difference. This is also with running a mix of 10 gallons E85 to a tank topped with 93. It isn't a flex fuel vehicle so any higher I get a CEL for running lean on both banks. Yes my mileage takes a hit. Instead of 20 mpg I normally get on trips I get 17mpg. This is also using EaO17 filter.  What is amazing is I have the AMSOIL cone filter on it since I have the GM Performance intake installed and that air filter has 44k miles on it.  I just take it out and shop vac it off once a year.  I use the upholstery tool on my shop vac.  Works well.
    • So, lot's of googling and reading, and a trial fit found, that indeed they hit the newer fatter caliper. I did some re-testing today, and found just 3/16" worth of washers was enough for the wheel to spin freely. I added 2 more on each, and again it spun freely. Tested lock to lock with the 4 washers, about 5/16" not quite the 3/8" Im considering, but pretty close. No issues. I've been looking at the BORA .375" spacers and using extended lugnuts to get back lost thread due to the spacer. All the ET lugs I've seen are all .33" reach inside the wheel lug holes. For those that don't like spacers or think they're unsafe, I think it depends on what type of spacers you're using and making sure you get good quality hubcentric ones, and if you're using bolt on ones, regular mainenance, checking the spacer lugs. Not wanting or needing that much spread. Looking for the minimum that will let me run these rims and tires.  it does look to stick out a little, but I really want put these on. and use the stock all-terrains in the winter.
