Just got off the phone with my dealership and the service guy said the technician told him that they are only performing the bulletin on new unsold trucks and that they can order the parts for me to do it but will take 2 months to arrive. They don't know what they are talking about. I'm waiting on a call back from the manager.

My 2016 does it to albeit not as bad. GM installed stops next to the white plastic rotating pieces but there is still a small gap. I will be installing a zip tie to make up the difference. The zip tie will be a wearable part so it may be replaced from time to time.

Had it fixed once on my 2015 and it's doing the same thing again. Will be heading back to get it looked at again,

i have some seat movement on my 2015 dbl cab but mine seems like the back rest part is moving foreword when braking then falling back once stopped is this the movement everyone else is getting? im also getting a popping sound from the same back part of the seat seems to be where the heat element is in the seat.

 

I think the problem discussed in this thread is that the bottom seat cushion is moving from left to right on turns.

 

I think I have a slight movement light yours, where the seatback will move ever so slightly foward when stopping, and back after the vehicle stops.

 

I think GM paid attention....when I was looking at the white clips on the bottom of the seat, I noticed, on my 9/15 truck anyway, metal pieces that are in the same place where other members are clamping next to the clips.

If you are running with the seat all the way down then it will rock front to back. I found this on mine after the really tall service tech drove it and 4 trips trying to get them to fix it. It will also sink if not raised far enough. The problem is in the 4 link seat suspension, if it is too low the links do not have the mechanical advantage to keep the seat from rocking back and forth.

You rock dude! Before my trip today, I adjusted it a bit higher to where I was comfortable, but it wasn't bottomed out like I had it. Son of a gun, the seat felt way firmer, and the rocking vanished! Thank you so much :thumbs:

i will have to try raising it slightly i did notice the rental i have also does it im not sure if the seats on the floor or not. Thanks

I took mine back today for the second time. I was promptly told that "there is nothing that we can do" however they changed out some retainers. After about 10 minutes in the vehicle, the seat started to slip again. This is getting old. I called back to the dealership and was told again "there is nothing that we can do". I have called GM and they seem to think that there is something that can be done. Waiting on the dealership to call me back since GM has reached out directly.

Just got it done, didn't notice in short drive home, have to dig up paperwork of what exactly they did. Was in/out in a day.

 

Well, now I have to dig up the paperwork...the past couple weeks have been getting a squeaking noise every time we make a stop. Tried moving the adjustments around, nothing helps. Took a quick look, does not look like a bunch of new parts underneath, so going to have to do some digging. Definitely still no side to side movement like before when turning.

take it back and have them retighten (torque)the bolts that hold the seat. I had a loose bolt and it squeaked all the time. service manager tightened the bolts to spec and no more noise.

Haven't noticed any, but how high does it have to be to prevent sinking? Edited by CadillacLuke24

It is not much actually. Maybe 1/4 to 1/2 inch of the bottom travel.

I thought that I had fixed my 2014 seat movement issue at around 900 miles. (dealership replaced the seat track) now at 61000 miles it was doing it again and of course it is out of warranty now. Sooooooooooooooo I stopped in and traded for a 2016 1500 Denali on Friday. I got 158 miles and NO seat shifting YET haha. We shall see how it goes.

My 2015 Silverado 1500 is experiencing seat movement when going around a left hand turn at a corner. It has 4,000 miles on the vehicle.

    • Thanks - I wasn't quite caffeinated this morning. 2:1 makes sense, turning the crankshaft 360 degrees will turn the cam 180 degrees, and had I done that, the cam's dot would be at 6 and the crank's at 12 again.   I went ahead and took the sprocket off anyway, aligned everything dot-to-dot including the balance shaft just for s&g. I'm glad I did because I discovered no Loctite on the timing sprocket bolts. Maybe it's not required, but at only 20 ft-lb torque spec, those bolts aren't in there very tight. Cleaned and reassembled with some thread locker and torqued.   A general observation: Less is more with RTV. If a little doesn't stop a leak, a LOT probably won't, either. RTV is thinly veiled revenge, in a tube...      
    • The timing marks are ok, that is #1, you can turn it over until they line up and it won't change anything, the crankshaft turns twice for every camshaft revolution, I have always set up SB Chevs as your pic shows using a straight edge
    • Someone's been here before.... There is a receipt for a 3-piece timing set, purchased earlier this year.   Is this picture something, or, nothing?   I have the timing cover off and my crank is perfectly TDC and the keyed gear's locating mark is dead on 12 o'clock.   The cam gear locating mark is also at 12 o'clock. Now, I'm not an expert, but all the install guides say the two locating marks should meet and be perfectly aligned when installing a timing set. The mark on the crank should be dead on 12:00 and the cam gear's mark should be dead on 6:00, and both marks should be perfectly vertically aligned.   I believe the timing gear is keyed or has a dowel that ensures it can only be installed on the cam in one position, so I have to believe the cam is out of phase somehow. At the very least, with a triangular bolt pattern, it can only be installed in one of 3 different positions.   Before I pulled the front cover, the truck was running alright, no service engine soon lights except an occasional P0172 / rich condition. Timing -16 timing at idle (should be +16), and total -35% fuel trim, two conditions I haven't been able to figure out.   In related news, my injector tested pretty well, wasn't leaking, but I had it rebuilt anyway, and it's on it's way back to me.         Along with this discovery, the good and bad:   Good: The oil pan seal appears undamaged.   Bad: -The timing cover has been reused, and the positioning dowels have been broken. That could explain some of the leaking. -Some kind of white paste or grease was used to try to seal the oil pan seal and timing cover (since wiped off..). -Then, someone globbed silicone all over the front of the cover and also buried the ckp sensor in it. But, they didn't put any inside the cover or use RTV to try to seal the oil pan seal with the timing cover (good).
    • The guy that owns K&P filters last I checked in with him has over 300,000 miles on his Dodge base Hemi using his own 35 micron absolute stainless mesh filter from its first oil change.    The GM study I've posted a dozen times shows the relationship in engine life based in multiples of base units, not miles or years. That is the base unit is the number of miles the motor ran using the reference filter efficiency.    The above two paragraphs dismantle anecdotal arguments IF one changes oil often enough to prevent particle formation and the motor is in otherwise good shape. That is not full of silica (no air filter) or suffering a metallurgical issue that is not part of the lubrication discussion. Poor heat treat in example.   Data from UOA's I've reviewed from more than a few engines can show remarkably broad variations in oil cleanliness using the exact same filter over the course of an engines life.     Lastly there is the common sense of it. Wear debris WILL circulate the engine BEFORE it ever sees a filter in route to that filter and WILL harm the pump which NEVER sees filtered oil.    Alpha question then becomes, given the facts, how long do you believe is a reasonable service life from a vehicle you are certain you will not pass down? That is the junk yard will be it's resting place when you're done with it? (the moral issue most don't care about).    Omega question is then how diligent are you prepared to be in general mechanical, air & oil maintenance? Preventing particulates and keeping them sufficiently dilute; preventing the precursors from generation, amalgamation and precipitation.    If I get a good look at the engine bay of a vehicle I have a fair idea of the owners commitment to the inside of the power train. That 30 micron WIX is still more efficient than a sieve.                 
    • It also depends on what criteria someone is using for “best” when talking filters.  Are we going off best efficiency?   Best quality/QC?  Etc. because the two may not mutually exclusive.
