Seat Movement Issues

Popping noise here too, feels like I am leaning against a water bottle.

For those of you who have (in the opinion of others) "wasted" there time on a dealer fix for this problem, only to have it come back again. Here is a permanent fix. What is happening is the dealer installed retainer clip is popping out of the white seat hinge which is allowing the seat to move again. By installing a hose clamp around the retainer clip it will not allow it to pop out and it will still allow full range of motion on the seat.

A 2" hose clamp and 5 minutes should take care of the problem FOREVER!! (I hope)

*EDIT* After looking closer at post #762 above, it appears the dealer was supposed to install a zip tie around the retainer clip to keep it in place. In my case...they didn't...hence the need for the hose clamp.

They did zip tie mine, and it has been holding solid for months now.

Dealer fixed mineI just couldn't deal with knowing that I had hose clamps and rubber hose on my 50,000 truck to keep seat from moving!!

Hi All,

Well I took mine to the deal a couple months ago and so far so good. I did however save that pic that TheElementalCashew posted. You know just in case this crap starts all over again. If it starts again I will definitely let you all know.

They installed my clip on the center console side of the seat, not the door side. All of the pictures I have seen show the clip on the door side of the seat. Can the clip be put on either side of the seat?

The retainer goes on the outboard side per instructions. Can't say whether it makes a difference though.

The dealer installed the new clip on the center console side of my seat. This is incorrect, the clip wasn't connecting anything. I moved it to the door side of the seat where it connects the pivot block (white block) with the pivot bracket (metal bracket). It only took me about 15 minutes to put it on the proper side of the seat, for both seats. This probably explains why I didn't feel any improvement after the TSB was done. I tried taking a picture of how it was originally installed, but it didn't come out too good.

One week and my seat seems good as new. Now if the seat warmers would heat up a little faster.........

How many people have seats that shift front to back? Every time I stop it rocks forward slightly then back. It is more than just the seat shifting with weight, there is a loose feel to the seat allowing it to shift front to back. Just got mine back and the dealer assured me that it was "normal". The frustrating part is the 2000 Silverado I traded in did not do this.

I got my brand new 2015 GMC Sierra in May' 2015.

I'm currently experiencing the similar seat movement issues since of late. I have given my truck in for a service this morning & have addressed this issue.

Hope they get it fixed by the end of the day.

andyhaug, the seat movement is not normal. call the Chevrolet 800 number to the customer service center. tell them that you want to open a claim on your truck. go in to great detail as into what it is doing and what the dealership is doing to help you. names at the dealership would also be helpful. these complaints go directly to department managers and the ownership of the dealership. these kind of things are frowned upon from Chevrolet as a failing grade for that dealership. give it a shot, you will be amazed at how quick something will start happening. can not guarantee it will be the results that you are looking for, but it will make the issue very visible to all involved.

Last time I talked to ERT they were completely backing the dealer. The dealer told me that it was normal based on others that they tested including a high country. On a trip for work now, I plan to go back and look at these others that make it normal.

Otherwise I am thinking of making an older generation seat slide in there, back when they actually cared. Anyone know how much different it is? Maybe I could just weld the existing one in place, at least it wouldn't rock anymore. If I wanted a rocking chair I would get a porch, not a new truck.

I took mine in on Wednesday and so far the issue is gone. They installed some shims and added clips of some kind. Both front seats were moving and both seem to be repaired.
