Finally got my garage/workshop situated in a way that all I have to do is move my main workbench (on wheels) behind my table saw on the other side to get the truck inside so I can work on it late at night without being interrupted or bugging the neighbors.

It's great having a garage to work in - and park in, especially during inclement weather! Your set up looks good.

It's not in the manual for the twk or vxi however I called JL and found you can in fact manipulate the software to perform that function like on the Mosconi dsp's. I'll post the process if you like when I get it done.

That would be awesome, thanks

Shined it up with the Jay Leno car care products I received for Father's Day. I've used lots of different products over the years with varying results and have to say so far I'm pretty impressed with his stuff (especially the tire and trim dressing)

I received a full set of floor mats for a double cab by accident from GM and they told me to keep them so I used the rear ones with zip ties to cover the "echo chamber" under the dash (this improves midrange clarity when you have kick panel or low door mounted mids).

Latest Audio upgrade is installing the Mercury Audio components I received from @Nasty . Most have probably not heard of this brand and neither had I until Nasty brought them to my attention. The company is out of Thailand and I was a little skeptical not having heard of them however they seem to win a lot on the Asian car audio competition circuit so I figured I'd give them a try.

This time around I used the Metra 6x9 adapters lined with Sound Skins deadener, made a recessed 13mm birch mounting plate to flush mount the mids and sealed front and back with foam weather stripping. Tweeters are installed in the stock dash location surrounded by thick foam.

Build quality as well as packaging are excellent IMO and I have about 25 hours of break in time so they are pretty well loosened up now. System is factory iob 7" headunit and JL Audio twk88 dsp running these active through a JL audio xd700/5v2 5 channel amplifier.

It was hard to find info online (the translated video I watched was difficult to follow with the thick accent of the narrator) and no manual or specs so I was basically flying by the seat of my pants. After much experimenting with crossover points along with basic phase/level adjustments and no eq'ing yet I find these to be an excellent sounding set of speakers "right out of the box".  Midrange is very natural sounding as I like it,  midbass is very articulate and easily keeps up with the fastest bass lines, soft dome tweeters are very detailed without any harshness even firing off the windshield and I'm sure they will be even better once I fine tune.  I like them better than the highly regarded Alpine SPX PRO's I previously had installed  and IMO they can compare favorably with many of the upper end speakers found on the market here as well as several "boutique" brands I have used.

Got bored the other night during this shelter in place and built yet another subwoofer enclosure from a combination of 13mm and 18mm Baltic Birch plywood to scale from an actual Bowtie emblem. 709205017_2020-03-2917_42_08.thumb.jpg.7c5409a6ce45fc440d82ac531b6e27f1.jpg

Haven’t done much to the truck in a  while other than install reverse, cargo, license plate LED bulbs and changed a few things in the audio system.

I previously did the diode mod to have the cargo lights come on in reverse but that didn’t help much with seeing behind at night while backing up however the LED bulbs made a huge difference.

I previously had the JL 13tw5 installed in an enclosure that spanned the entire rear wall but that was way more bass than I needed and I wanted to add a little more storage so I went back to my very first plan which was building a platform across the rear wall.

I used nutserts and rubber isolators to mount it to the rear wall at the top. I made a little mounting tab to use the jack tools mounting stud at the bottom and fashioned a little bracket to use another isolator mounted to the seatbelt mechanism stud.

I kept the Mercury Audio components I got from Brandon aka Nasty here (RIP my brother ?) and was planning to use the Bowtie enclosure above with the ARC Audio ARC Series 8” but by going to the platform I found the passenger seat wouldn’t go back far enough and the jump seat would not open all the way so I just built a basic wedge from Baltic Birch plywood for behind the passenger seat.

    • We have now!  2027 GMC Sierra  Early look, but I'm a GMC guy and so far I think I like the looks of the Chevy better.
    • HD at the moment, are kinda their own deal.  How LTZ sells on those vs on 1500, there is a difference.   They are merging most of the mid trims on 1500.  LT, RST and LTZ are replaced by one trim, Silverado.  LT and RST are a BIG portion of sales.    Bad naming choice aside, the new Silverado trim will offer the spread of options that those three trims offered.  So expect to see things like the tech package for example, and memory seats.  And LT Trail Boss will now just be "Trail Boss" (formerly LT Trail Boss) but will offer content spread like the new Silverado trim will.  The press photos showed the Trail Boss (formerly LT Trail Boss) has access to Super Cruise now, which on the current truck was High Country only.       Here is the Trail Boss interior.  Memory seats and Super Cruise are present.  All things the LT Trail Boss it replaces, and the RST it was based on didn't get on the current gen.  You had to go to LTZ or ZR2 for memory seats, and High Country for Super Cruise.
    • I installed a Hellwig rear sway bar on my 21 Sierra SLT, it made a huge difference on how the truck handles, no body roll, the trucks much more planted now. Not sure of the suspension differences between the 21 and 26,  if its body roll your having a sway bar will solve it.
    • So a follow up and my fix. I found in online searches the live data to look at on a scan tool to verify the fuel tank pressure sensor was working.  It showed an spec number towards the lower end of the rang, but in spec.  Then while it was running opened the gas cap and the pressure should change.  It didn't change even a tiny bit.  The data for the purge valve said it was open...never changed. So then I measured the voltages on the plug for the fuel pressure sensor and they matched what it should be.  So local car quest parts had the sensor in stock...it was a bit of a pain to remove and an even bigger one to get it to actually go back in.  It helped to unbolt the driveshaft and bungie cord away from the gas tank to give a bit more room to work. So fuel tank pressure sensor in I cleared the code, and started it up.  I went to the scan tool's live data and... Eureka! The pressure number was different and fluctuated a bit.  So took it on a short drive and pressure number varied saw the purge valve go from closed to open and back to closed.  Drove it to and from work for roughly a week plugged in the scan tool no codes.  I took it in to get tested and passed.  In my state's infinite wisdom (oops meant greed), since I pushed the test with the maximum extensions I have to take it back in by Feb '27 to 'get it back up to date', then my next test won't be until Feb '29.
